Gonna have to make a thread I think, demonstrating that it isn't ball sounds, and minuscule differences in arena buzzers and shot clocks that desperately need attention.

Time to see if I can find my old custom audio sounds for the new thread.

Made one....look up 'improving audio and atmosphere'.

It's lies and false advertising, that much is definite.

At least with last gen you could upload custom arena sounds for each arena. Sure it sounded tacky and pieced together, but it worked more or less.

2K lying again...First ''Body scanning'' and now this...Live still dominates in sounds and overall arena atmosphere.

Guess we gotta wait till 2k18 and some ''new feature'' will have live sounds.

You're literally missing the entire point of this thread. People are complaining about how 2K MARKETED the audio and then showed NOTHING to prove these new audio breakthroughs. From Day 1 they've made it clear that audio was #1 on their agenda, yet none of their gameplay trailers have shown any of these new audio improvements (with the exception of a net swishing and a ball bouncing). If you're going to market something, SHOW it in trailers, otherwise you're going to get exactly the response that you got in this topic.

No I understand what you're saying. But 2K marketed the audio as "Arena Authenticity" which includes crowd, the way the balls sound on the court, the baskets, the buzzers, and the rim sounds.

They showed all of these things in the trailer that they marketed. They also showed the crowd doing specific chants that the real fans would do in their arenas. Now granted they didn't show ALL the crowd chants and only showed a few of them so I get that part.

My simple point was, they did in fact give what they marketed but other people's idea of what they "should" have marketed is different. Along with that statement, it's really impossible to see if they really did live up to our expectations and their marketing without playing the full game yet.

TLDR: It's really unfair to judge them yet until the game is released and we can then tell if they did what they promised.

I'm not even sure how one could say this. By and large, 2K has showcased each bullet point in that list - it's not even hard to verify that.

Is the audio perfect? Maybe not from what we've seen, but they've definitely worked to improve audio from one iteration to the next. Remember audio is the full gamut of everything in the game - broadcast crews, player interviews, floor sounds, player chatter, etc. 2K is not lying nor is their any false advertising. It seems like more than anything, they may be swinging for a home run and ending up with a double. Not really what they (or some users) wanted but better than nothing at all.

This is a good thread capturing and highlighting a lot of good points, e.g. "Go Spurs Go", but this forum is becoming toxic with hyperbolic cynicism. Some of you guys need to simmer down.

I won't go as far as to accuse them of lying or false advertising....but I will say there is a lot of "funny" things in the game that's not necessarily adding up.

This thread isn't just 40 pages of hyperbole/overexaggerations compared to some of the others. Shoot, there was another thread just like this that was made when these issues first started popping up 3-4 years and they're still there based on some of the gameplay videos I've seen. And even from people here that have the game, they've basically confirmed that's the case as well.

So for me personally, it looks like much hasn't changed at all and that trailer was a waste of time. A trailer to show off how the ball sounds at Barclays and how it sounds at the 2K Garden? A trailer to show off how the horns sound at the Toyota Center and how it sounds at The Q?

sure. they've gotten better. and sure, its not perfect. but the complaints here seem to be very specific. they also seem to be valid when a/b testing previous iterations. So i dont necessarily see how you can emphatically say that they aren't false advertising when guys are here literally comparing audio from previous games and they are coming out to sound the same. i guess we will have to wait for the game to come out to really see everything but so far, its not a stretch to concede that 2K just may be blowing smoke in some of the aspects of their revamped audio, simply based on the comparisons guys are doing to other games.

It's a shame they had to overhype the authentic arena chants because I believe they did a good work with the sound fx wich were seriously awful before.

People would have been a lot more appreciative of thoses if the specific arena chants were accurate or if they had not been hyped as such.

"Authentic Arena Sound FX" - I know for a fact that for Barclays Center, they got that wrong. Or it's "not accurate".

Commentary has always been cool with me but when it comes to the actual environment at the Arenas, to me that's where they drop the ball.
