I can't give you an official confirmation, but if I understand the system correctly, if the servers go down, you can only rebrand three teams while they're down. Then that's the limit, you must wait until they're up again to rebrand the other 33. I'm only unsure about what happens when all 36 are re-branded, then the servers go down. I would assume the save coverts to an online one immediately after you rebrand the fourth team, and then it's inaccessible during a server outage. But don't quote me on it.Tegan/T/Ambush

Re: NBA 2K17 MyLEAGUE, MyLEAGUE Online & MyGM Blog With Erick Boenisch
Hey Leftos, thanks for answering questions.
I was wondering about the logic behind the "out-of-the-box" preset smart rotations. Is it based off the real-life coaches tendencies for subbing players in/out at specific points. Or does the computer just automatically calculate a way to divide the assigned minutes.
I love the addition of this feature. I'm just asking so I can know if the rotations are fine as is or if I should go the extra mile and research these substitution patterns for an even more authentic experience.Comment

I've been worried that computer game companies would pivot towards online play because of the obvious profits they can make through extra purchases. But after reading this and the gains that 2K made with last years MyGM mode, I am really happy.
So to the makers of this game I say thankyou and although I am a ***** of VC, because of the effort you guys put in I will be purchasing some.
Well done guys.Comment

I know that Ame has also asked but eagerly anticapating a positive answer whether we can now reset playoff games and rounds as they drop online in MLO. That was an only but a big issue last year. So can we now?

I respect and admire job you do every year, really. And there is a lot of things I liked and get really excited about MYLEAGUE this year. Thank you!
But I keep asking myself is exapnsion feature is something that worth of your time and resources rather than working on things which can give fans most desired aspect - competitiveness and engagement. When I play this modes I want feel how CPU teams going after me, if I improve my players in a Summer Camps, I want to hear and see how opposing GM's are talking about and I'm hearing that their players will the do the same and even more. I want war. I want them to hire better trainers and I want to see league talking about it, I want for me and CPU to somehow have chance to discover hidden talent through reading reports from exceptional scouts and those scouts sholud be someones really hard to hire, we have to battle for them.
I want to see NBA TV or something where every week we can watch the best plays from the league, let AI generate some plays based on players rating and tendencies and put it on TOP 10 dunks, blocks, passes. This would take this modes to another level. It's much more thrilling things than expanding league where we don't have that many good players.
There should be some x-factor in how players progress and regress as well it should be more like in real life in tearms of plausibility.
It's my wishes and not compalint. I love you guys, you are special, wish we could be friends ; )Comment

Leftos,
will the user have the opportunity to create his own playoff bracket with custom rosters and play online against other users?
Let's say I want to play in Playoff mode with other 15 friends (and not offline), can I?
Maybe I couldn't ready properly but that's unclear to me!
Thanks in advance.Comment

Any chance that the (unchanged) nicknames of relocated teams will be recognized? E.g. I tried relocating the Suns to Brooklyn last year, but the commentary only ever referred to my team as Brooklyn, never the Suns.Comment

Yes! This is one of the main reasons I want the have the DLeague or even Europe. Young players sit in free agency too long and they just retire. Those guys should be in the NBDL or Europe. At least some of them. Even if we can't play it. Just have them somewhere. Look at the career arc of guys like Whiteside. They aren't the norm but seeing guys retire at 26 years old isn't either. Plus those player models look so much better than the CPU generated players.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 MyLEAGUE, MyLEAGUE Online & MyGM Blog With Erick Boenisch
Why do I bring this up? A problem with AAA sports video games (not so much text sims) is that players and ratings are largely static. If a player is rated 74 overall going into a season, that's what he is. Sure, he'll progress and regress over a career (and I know the team, including you personally with the training overhaul, has done great work here recently), but you know what you have. And as nice as the total-control player training is, I wonder if it's a little too much control at times; it'd sure be nice to improve Ricky Rubio's shooting or a lot of players' defensive chops, but the NBA doesn't always work that way. Current development also doesn't allow for large swings in a rating over the course of a single season, as we've seen with guys like Boogie and Anthony Davis stretching their range.
Ben Simmons is a 79 in the game, never mind that he might start playing and turn out to be much better than that (like Towns last year). There are also plenty of players currently barely fit to be on a roster who will turn out to be key role players at season's end (maybe they finally acquired the defensive IQ to stay on the court, or developed a 3 point shot), and solid veterans who will regress so quickly their careers appear to be over.
This is the biggest thing that makes this excellent franchise mode get staler quicker than I'd like, and the D-League is a good representation of how to innovate and get it 'right'. It doesn't have to be an actual D-League simulation per se, just like we don't need a proper Euroleague simulation to provide the same level of depth with draft-and-stash. A more dynamic ratings system (optional of course, so that guys don't get cranky when their prized prospect or key role player turns out to be much worse than advertised) would finally give value to second round picks and end of the bench signings, as well as creating the ever-elusive 'draft bust'. Drafting a player in the top 5 and immediately knowing he is a 67 (and simply cutting/trading him) is not the same as wasting years on him only to never realize his potential.
Each season at the start, I use Siri to give me three random numbers between 1 - 30. I then scroll through the teams starting alphabetically with the 76ers and stop at the team number corresponding to my random numbers. Then I take the youngest player with potential below A- on each team and add 3 points to his potential.
That lets me spice it up a little for CPU teams, who as a rule don't do a great job developing players. I exclude the team I control from this, so my Knicks never get that bump. Since as a user I tend to draft and develop players better than the CPU, this at least gives the league a little more competition.
I don't really see it overall increasing the league's overall talent level because it's a small bump and a lot of these guys still don't fully achieve their potential due to injuries, inferior coaching, inferior trainers and such. Or some just have weaker peak start and peak end curves.
On the other hand, if a recent lottery pick goes from B+ to A- potential in this process, it kind of simulates the KAT scenario and gives that weaker team a guy to really build around. It can also have the effect of turning a late first or early second rounder from being roster fill to a useful role player in his career, going from C+ to B- potential.Last edited by LorenzoDC; 09-10-2016, 11:29 AM.Comment

@leftos
I'm not sure of you mentioned it but this blog had no information on contraction and how it works or anything like that. What is the minimum number of teams that you can have in your league? What does contraction mean? Does that mean that I can remove any team from my league? Can I have a 24 team league? Can I only contract expansion teams?
What happens to the players of teams that get contracted? Do they disappear? Do they become free agents? What happens?
Care to provide some details?
