I very rarely post here but for a 2k11 topic I can't resist.

In my opinion, what made 2k11 so special, aside from the major leap forward from 2k10 in terms of gameplay, was the attention to classic rosters and the unreal support it got from the online roster creation community.

The opening with MJ coming out of the tunnel, the inclusion of the flawlessly executed MJ mode...just amazing. Then once the roster sets from guys like PortlandBlazer came out? It was just incredible.

I would rank 2k12 as the best of the series personally. The hack for roster editors to pull legends from the DLC expanded on what made 2k11 have such a long shelf life for me. The improved post game was amazing and it refined some of the cheese from 11.

I thought 2k16 was solid but very sluggish and the neglect the classic teams get kills me. I don't hold out much hope for the classic rosters this year but more explosive feel for players and the focus on defense has me intrigued.

sometimes i asked me if 2k12 is better than 2k11 or not but i alaways come back to say that 2k11 is better just for the classic paint, Phil Jackson, Jordan shoes outsole details and a good representation of the triangle offense even if 2k12 has other good triangle, legend roster, and post game!!

I played 5 full seasons of Association on 2K11 in addition to playing with a bunch of awesome classic rosters. I never played an NBA 2K game like that since. Jordan mode was incredible. The game just played so amazingly for me from day one.

Never got 13, or 14.

Picked up 2K15 for PS4 and enjoyed it for about 3 months, then shelved it.

Picked up 16, loved it out of the box, but again....it lost me quickly.

I am very very excited for 2K17 and feel this is going to be the 2K game I will play for years (like I did with 2K11). The enhancements to MyLeague are astounding on paper, and the new presentation packages look like they will blow me away. I want to be able to play multiple seasons and not have to purchase another 2K for years...just like 2K11.

Plus playoff mode? Oh yeah. Classic roster showdown playoff tournaments? Damn freaking straight!!!!

I am stoked. I feel this will be 2K11 of this gen.

2k11 was better than 2k15 and maybe 2k16.

Haha, it's no obsession, it's just that's generally hailed as a classic . I personally think 13 was the goat. 16 was the goat at first , but the community killed it, thus turning a 9.5/10 game to a 7.5 game. 17 imo can be a 10/10, despite the body issues

2K11 only had two real exploits. Hopstepping which was really only a problem against big MyPlayers that could do standing dunks very easily. With regular teams it was easy to stop. And spin dunking which was almost unstoppable. Luckily, it didn't seem like people was heavy on YouTube looking how to exploit back then because spin dunking wasn't happening as often as it would if it happened today.

For me, 2K11 is easily GOAT. And I am pretty sure 2K17 won't touch it. With 2K11 it's not just about the better gameplay it's also simply about the fun you've had and the modes were A1. 2K had to shut the servers down for people to quit playing that game lol. Don't think that ever had to happen for any other 2K game. Simply GOAT.

Prelude hasn't gotten me too optimistic.

2K11 was their peak don't think it'll be topped everything was near perfect but also the league itself was more exciting imo better rosters

If you could remove any patches from a game (i.e. Patch 5 pretty much "broke" NBA 2K15), do some of you still consider NBA 2K11 the best? I was so mad when they patched the gameplay of NBA 2K16, because it felt so right in the beginning. NBA 2K15 wasn't bad either until they attempted to fix the broken jumpers and shooting percentages.

It's one of the reason that I'm SOOOOOOOO happy that Mike Wang's team won't be in a rush to release patches unless it's game breaking like the floaty passes and PS4 controller issue.

Honestly NBA 2K11 didnt even reach its full potential until it was patched. Its one of the main reasons I'm never against them tweaking things....that very situation...

Nostalgia is undefeated though, I highly doubt 2k11 will ever be beat in some peoples minds....regardless of the quality of the game its being stacked against. Not too much different than NFL 2K5..

2k11 is still really good though if you put it in now. It just simply plays how you want it to and is responsive. 17 isn't even that responsive after they hyped it.

Most of all the modes, like crew, lobbies, create players teams and share, etc isn't nostalgia.. It's just better

I really enjoyed NBA 2k13, it was a good thing I wasn't aware of the glitches while playing it that helped me into loving it.

I still have 2K11....the heavy two man animations and non contexual jump shooting shows its age more than anything

I'll take LG 2K14 over it gameplay wise any day of the week if we're just talking about LG

My take on a this is that NBA 2k11 was the greatest NBA game until NBA 2k16.

Played the heck out of NBA 2k11(2k12 was so bad defs keep the 2k11 servers up... I remember this) Crew mode we definitely put up with a few things back then that wouldn't stand a chance now and days mainly the servers.

NBA 2k16 from a sim offline perspective is as close as it gets to the real NBA for me. Just yesterday I loaded up Lakers vs Celtics with the 2016-16 rosters me playing the CPU & had a blast. Me playing a 2k game this late in the year is unheard of.
