Oh man those spin dunks were the worst lmao.

Yeah man. Most people only knew how to do it out of the post which could be combatted by moving away or pressing Y to get out the animation. But the people that knew how to do it without posting up was damn near unstoppable.

Again, I am glad people wasn't all on YouTube like they are now because it would've killed 2K11. But maybe 2K would've patched it then.

2k17 will surely be a better game than 2k11, but the step backs on 10/11 were deadly and I remember roasting people with CP3. Haven't been able to truly play with my favorite player quite the same way since then. 2k13 I believe started my myteam obsession and the battles I had in the first seed still are some of my favorite 2k moments of all time.

2k16 was a great game and my only complaint was the sluggishness of the animations. The AI is way smarter and the animations and pull up/mid-range game feels fixed on 2k17 so it should take the throne simply for fixing the key problems that held 2k14-16 back.

Responsiveness, good ai, and good balance. I still play it to this day. 2K14 last gen might have topped it. That was great as well. A lot of the issues we still have in recent iterations were not issues in 2K11. Imo there's cheese in most games anyway. Don't play against cheesers if you can help it. Plus not enough people knew the exploits outside of the GIANTS they hacked into crew mode. It still needs roster and slider edits to play realistic but again that's every sports game in my opinion. 17 looks great. It could be the game that gets me to shelf 2K11 permanently.

2k11 is still really good though if you put it in now. It just simply plays how you want it to and is responsive. 17 isn't even that responsive after they hyped it.

Most of all the modes, like crew, lobbies, create players teams and share, etc isn't nostalgia.. It's just better

Right. People seem to think they know what it is for everyone lol. I remember the issues w/ the game like how bad the servers were for Crew Mode and the hacks you had to deal with. I remember it all vividly. Just none of these games surpassed it. It's not a coincidence a lot of people say 2K11 is the GOAT lol.

NBA 2K2, 2K7, 2K11...these are the golden standards that marked a big shift.
Obviously with a yearly release cycle each game will not be a big jump, and people will have specific ones they like for whatever reason.

But those three marked big moments for this franchise.

Maybe we're due with 2K17?

Honestly NBA 2K11 didnt even reach its full potential until it was patched. Its one of the main reasons I'm never against them tweaking things....that very situation...

Nostalgia is undefeated though, I highly doubt 2k11 will ever be beat in some peoples minds....regardless of the quality of the game its being stacked against. Not too much different than NFL 2K5..

Yeah. I forgot that the patches made it what it became. I forgot how it played before the patches, but I know I was playing 3-4 online games almost every day. When they announced that they were keeping the servers up longer due to NBA 2K12 being so terrible, I bought a new copy, because I traded in my original copy to get 2K12.

best game is college hoops 2k8 because it was actually fun to play offline. I think until they go deep like that... it would be really nice to have (since it's the same engine) college hoops stuff in the game. Even fake colleges, as long as it worked the same way as college hoops. I'd pay 60 more bucks for that DLC.

Most 2ks have had really flawed game play in terms of online play, at least a few things. I think the first mypark game where you could equip 5 badges was my favorite, tho. And you could still upgrade individually.

Great game...played it to death, ahead of its time...but I'm past it at this point. So many vital improvements since then

My take on a this is that NBA 2k11 was the greatest NBA game until NBA 2k16.

I had the same thoughts initially for a couple of weeks or so but theres just a couple of major problems in 2k16 that i couldnt overlook

1) Transition offense/defense
2) AI logic in terms of defensive rotation - CPU/AI leaving the player with the ball to switch matchups etc...
3) CPU defensive awareness off MADE baskets - like why are my team mates scrambling and lost off MADE baskets?
4) Team mates RUNNING AWAY from open spots - e.g. instead of my pf rolling straight to the basket, he would run at this weird angle so that the defense could rotate and catch up etc...

Thats why overall, just talking about GAMEPLAY and responsiveness, and considering the time the game was made, 2K11 is still the best imo

I'd take 2K11 over any other nba 2k games except maybe 2k16. 2k16 is just overall a better package, and it should be. But just talking strictly gameplay, 2k11 over any other nba 2k games

2k16 was damn close, so 2k17 could definitely be the one. The controls already felt great and responsive in 2KU, theres just a couple of things im looking out for when the game comes out

NBA 2K11 will become one of those "classic" games like Temco Bowl, Counter Strike, Halo 2, Golden Eye, etc. On a personal level, I would never go back and play them, because they're clearly outdated from a gaming standpoint. However, 2K11 will be my favorite, because (at the time) it was the getting the most playing time from me and I loved the H2H online aspect of it. Minus the spin dunk exploit, I didn't really have any real complaints about the game. I think I played 700+ online games on NBA 2K11 which is a LOT when you're married with kids.
