Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Can you call plays with the game developers? If not, I think that plays a big part in the player interactions. Freelance and running an offense or defensive scheme, the players "need" to get to their certain spots. Players "need" to play their opposition in a "certain" way. Probably resulting in morphing, suctioned to a certain position on the floor, how far they are from the player they're guarding, which is why sometimes you would lose control of your player because he "has" to do that "certain" thing in that specific situation.
On the flip side, with just the game developers, the game simply lets the game of basketball play out.
That's my theory, which could be completely wrong. But there's definitely a different feel with the developers and playing as NBA players.Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 10-06-2016, 12:31 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I hate the assistant coach that is on every user-controlled team and talks in every timeout. He is completely useless and idiotic. My team will be down 15 and I call timeout and he'll say "Love the energy guys. We're really playing our style." Who thought it was a good idea to have this in the game? One thing would be for MyCareer but to be in regular play now games is dumb.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Honestly if you didnt see all the failures and missteps by 2k coming your just a lick i witnessed too many people spend 100-200 dollars on a game that is broken and looks worse than 2k16 (besides shoes they did good on the shoes guys, we have shoes now) but yes they are rolling in the dough right now and i feel 2ks downfall started when VC came in to play there making so much money of just that that they dont need to fix the game to get sales, people purchasing VC from this guys is like buying the game 6 times or more depending on how much you drop. They are truly the finesse kids.NY GIANTSComment

I see a petition coming to get this dude removed from the game. He seems like a rip-off of Steve Kerr."The older I get, the faster I was!"

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
In both my Heat MyLeagues I have not seen it at all since the patch dropped as well as David Aldridge pre game report.
So Either they did that on purpose or it is bugged and will patched back in.
But it is gone from my game post patch. Surprised some of you still see it.
PS4 BTW.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 10-07-2016, 09:25 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
After playing since launch day I have to say I like NBA 2k16 a lot better. Why are the animations towards the rim so damn slow? I had almost full stamina in the fourth quarter of a pro am game last night and my guy did the worst dunk animation ever (Shot creator 95) I also made a sharpshooter because I coulnd't knock down wide open shots with my shot creator. Anyways, the game feels super clunky and we keep getting dropped at the beginning of pro am games. Also, why can't I change direction with the left stick without my player going into a stumbling animation?Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
So, I think this game feels pretty great overall. I'm definitely more into it than I have been since the graphic blast of 2K14.
That said, through six games of my Warriors franchise, I definitely see troubling things. I'm playing on All-Star, except for the first game against the Spurs which was on Pro and a total joke. I understand some of this stuff could be related to playing as the Warriors, but I figured that'd be the simplest way to learn the nuances and changes for this year's game before diving into a rebuild League with the Timberwolves, Lakers or Kings.
The most troubling thing I'm noticing is that it doesn't matter who I'm playing, whoever is playing in the post is the most important player for the CPU. Here are their numbers (excluding that first game on Pro since it was a 130-67 blowout):
Anthony Davis: 21pts, 13reb, 10/15fg
Omer Asik: 12pts, 7reb, 5/5fg
Dragan Bender: 20pts, 11reb, 7/15fg
Tyson Chandler: 19pts, 5reb, 8/9fg
Alex Len: 11pts, 5reb, 4/4fg
Meyers Leonard: 22pts, 5reb, 10/12fg
Mason Plumlee: 18pts, 15reb, 7/10fg
Festus Ezeli: 14pts, 8reb, 5/8fg
(Lillard did put up 44 with 14 assists in this game on 17/31 shooting)
Steven Adams: 17pts, 9reb, 7/10fg
Enes Kanter: 13pts, 4reb, 5/9fg
Ersan Ilyasova: 8pts, 2reb, 4/6fg
Joffrey Lauvergne: 7pts, 3reb, 3/6fg
(Westbrook went for 39 and 10 on 15/36...)
Timofey Mozgov: 24pts, 14reb, 10/11fg
(In this game, Russell, Ingram and Clarkson were next with 22, 20 and 16 respectively, and I had both Durant and Curry out with foot injuries, but I had to hedge on rollers so hard all game because anything in the paint was automatic it was what inspired this post)
I get that part of the Warriors' weakness this year is likely going to be paint defense and rebounding since they lost so much size in their roster shakeup this summer, but the scores of these games (All-Star, default All-Star sliders, 12 minute quarters) have been ridiculous too. Again, I don't mind that Mozgov took advantage of his size in a game where I was out my two best players, but the Lakers looked like Showtime out there, and in general these scores are just so damn high.
W 139-106
W 121-120
W 135-134
W 136-115
L 106-126
Would this year's Lakers EVER do 126 on the Warriors, even without Curry and Durant? I've definitely noticed clamping down on D; for example, Davis scored 19 of his 21 points before halftime. But they still rung up 106 on me, and it felt like that was just because the game was too long.
Also, Durant, Curry and Thompson all have foot/ankle injuries after six games. I get that there's bad luck and none of them are serious injuries, but I think I've read elsewhere this is more than bad luck and actually a weird trend with injuries in this year's MyLeague?
Lastly, I've had this issue every year so it's sort of whatever at this point, but it's odd how I often take 20 less shots than the CPU. Here are my total shots/offensive rebound/turnover numbers compared to them each game. I've had this issue since NBA 2K6 but I'm not sure exactly what I can do about it, even when some perfect sliders come out every number will look right at the end of a game except these.
Warriors: 80fg, 8reb, 12to
Pelicans: 97fg, 12reb, 8to
Warriors: 83fg, 6reb, 17to
Suns: 90fg, 9reb, 13to
Warriors: 84fg, 4reb, 12to
Blazers: 99fg, 14reb, 17to
Thunder: 93fg, 8reb, 7to
Warriors: 90fg, 6reb, 8to
Warriors: 84fg, 4reb, 16to
Lakers: 102fg, 12reb, 10to
Again, I'm 5-1 on the year so I'm "succeeding", but these are things that crop up game after game and once two of the best players in the league were riding the pine for a full game I took an L HARD. The soft defense this Warriors team plays makes me especially worried about using a team like the T-Wolves or Knicks, like do I actually have to score around 120 points to win against the CPU right now? Can't 2K recognize that I am missing wide open shots due to the shot meter, whereas the CPU players are "gameified" so that if they worked for a wide open shot or I sagged too far off a certain person or they got the lead pass in the paint, their shot is guaranteed to go in or create an offensive rebound? It's so plainly obvious when an outcome is determined a success for the CPU before the shot even goes up that it's demoralizing, especially when the same breaks will go your way but then you held the stick/button a touch too long, got a early/late release and your layup is clanking off the front of the rim. Happens maybe 50% of the time for me which, great, that's basketball! I LOVE IT! But when it happens maybe 5% of the time for the CPU it's a real deal breaker.Comment
