That I do have to agree with as well. Players are out of positions and that unfortunately doesn't help if one chooses to simply play on-ball defense. Instant replay mode one can see a lot of quirks that shouldn't happen to NBA level talent, for that matter high school.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
They only have to patch whatever is wrong with the D of non user players and this game will be great for this season. Players randomly leaving their assignments is not good basketball at any level and I don't buying the intentionally made to force play off ball D.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Offline with custom sliders/settings- i have tried various sliders/settings with litle to no observable difference- to try to help my cpu teammates defense
in addition to other defense issues mentioned,
the old problem that happened on fast breaks a few games back -
my cpu teammate running back on fastbreak to underneath the basket is occurring again on frequent occasion instead of stopping the ball/finding a man to defend.
I may have to rent this one first to see if this is still an issue and to also experience the issues with my teammates not being able to stay with their man or rotate with screens.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Anybody noticing your starters' health not really improving after Halftime?
Like if my guys go into the half at like 75, they'll start the 2nd half at like 78-79 and then I'm taking them out 4-5 mins into the half.
Noticed this a few times while playing Play Now against the CPU.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
My impression is that the game is completely broken thanks to AI defense. No review score can be seen as credible if they are giving this game an 8 or 9 or better when defense is fundamentally broken.
So much good about this game. But the injury issue is one thing... I literally won't play it in its current state because of "help" defense. I'm just glad my friend bought the game for me, otherwise I'd be pretty pissed.
Never thought I'd see the day where 2k put out a subpar basketball game... but they did. And that sucks.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Okay here are my impressions after a week or so. DISCLAIMER: the last bball game I played extensively was NBA 2k12, just because they included the legends. After getting a ps4 this year, I wanted to wait until the latest and greatest version came out.
- The Good: Animation is topnotch. I think this is the strength of the game, besides rebounding and shooting. The dribbles and the shooting motions seem quite realistic. Easily the best looking bball game (tho I haven't played 2k15 or 2k16 to make a real baseline comparison).
- Rebounding is much more authentic and natural. Great rebounders jump diagonally to the ball, instead of just vertically. That way they are more than just a 4 space rebounder, in basketball terms. Bill Russell for instance was an 8 space rebounder.
- The number of teams available. I don't really care for the Euroleague teams, but I am glad that they kept in the historic teams - which is all I really care about to play custom seasons.
- The Bad: You can't really play defense especially against a great superstar, cuz he'll break you down like nothing. I end up guarding the ****tiest offensive player, but the minute I step out to help, he cuts to the basket like a genius for the open layup.
- You can't really pass over the defense to an open guy, no matter how good of a passer your guy is. I keep turning the ball over, and that lets the other team back in the game.
- For some reason, like some mentioned here, the defense has a magnetic pull on your player, even if you are streaking towards the basket with the defender behind him. In the real NBA, that sort of BS magnetism is a clear path foul, no matter what. This is the computer version of cheese.
- The stamina. Everyone gets tired, but nobody recovers. Hardly at all during timeouts or at halftime. This needs to be corrected.
- The play calling and substitution menus. Horrible, 2k.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I think the screens are a problem in this game that nobody but me notices. They don't really work in a realistic way. They are canned animations that are trigger by to wide of a proximity resulting is getting caught on screens when you have no business getting caught on.
Check out this example below. Brandon Ingram was clearly not moving in the direction of the screen... Yet he gets sucked into it and gives op an open 3. What am i suppose to do as a user to stop something like this? This happens all the time among other issues that are really starting to add up.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
That is broken too. My bench tires so slowly and recovers so quickly, but my starters are the opposite. There are games I play my bench more than my starters and they're still more fresh...it's so stupid.Comment

I've also seen complete defensive lapse by the A.I on some occasions it's like they don't have a clue where the offensive player is on the floor orpoor double team logic I've seen the A.I leave a player wide open under the basket to double someone out on the three point line...this makes me want to break my controller

Also, this game has the worst player models I have ever seen in just about any sports game ever. Players either look like Gumby or offensive linemen.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Current state of the game is just wrong on a too many levels. Disappointed a lot:
- AI defence, especially defending transition threes from AI and switching are horrible
- Same stupid animation where all fouls coming from a post plays, it's totaly game breaker in MYCareer. Yur post players like don't have any clue how to defend without fouling
- Step back and screen threes are OP
- AI scoring on you after full court pass you can't defend that
- In simcast your players all dead tired after 2 quarters. Cmon!!
- Boring and casual plot in MyCareer
- Trade logic in Myleague is just poor, AI only wants better players from you team, it's how it's programmed, not how much they need those players, they never offer fair trade they want to give them something better, it's understandable why it was made so by 2k, so you won't abuse AI, but it is not intellegent way
- UI should be simple and intuitive, this year it's too difficult. It's also takes too much button taping just to call ISO for your player in a post

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I've mostly enjoyed the game play but here are some negatives ive had.
-when the CPU is holding the ball for last possesion of quarter or half they never try to do anything. They stand at half court for 15 seconds and throw up a ridiculous three.
- the massive amount of stumbling and mis dribbles. Its like watching children play sometimes.
- it bothers me that i cant do the same things the CPU does. The CPU can throw the ball around with reckless abandon while i cant even make a pass to someone who completely blows by their defender if they happen to be in the paint.
- I genuinely feel like the majority of my turnovers are being forced upon me because the game decided it rather than because of anything I'm doing. I don't know how many times I've dribbled than pass but my guy stumbles and the player he was passing to is now covered because of the stumble animation and it's a turnover.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Does anyone else feel like the shot feedback meter disappears way too quickly? By the time I shoot & see what the result is, when I go to glance at the feedback it's already gone or in the process of disappearing. Needs to stick around for just a tick longer

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Also, I'm extremely disappointed they decided to get rid of being able to use any direction on the shot stick to shoot. Not a fan at all of only being able to use down and very curious as to why this is being forced on users. At least have the option available to allow us to choose which method to use. That's what 2k is so great with usually, giving players the ability to choose and customize, so I'm confused with this. Utilizing any direction on the stick to shoot was not broken, it allowed more freedom, that option should not have been removed.
