Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Couldn't agree more. The game just feels totally broken.
I'll start playing the game, but I'm having no fun. I won't even make it thru a full game because I get so annoyed that I have to turn it off.
So many things need to be fixed. This is the worst I've seen in a 2K game in some time. Makes me sad.
Just uninstalled in hopes to play without the patch. That said - I am playing 2K16 and wowowowowowow. The difference in player control on both sides of the ball is night and day. In 2K16 I can mostly go to where I want. I can move around without having to have x y and z to line up perfectly. I'm not being chased down and tripped. I'm not seeing forced pick up ball animations every second possession. Defenders aren't literally running at me as fast as humanly possible and slamming into me to 'play good defense'. On defense I am swimming through screens. I fight for position and get beat, and sometimes get rewarded. I can actually stay with my guy, reasonably. It's not without flaws, but it is a much better NBA simulation experience. Maybe it's not as good of a product, or video game overall...I don't know because I don't play online or any other modes other than quick games or franchise. I can't give an informed opinion on anything but what I mentioned. But, again - it's a more authentic NBA simulation experience. I'm actually having fun!
What a great game 2K17 would be if they just added the cool features and animations from 2K17 to 2K16. Instead 2K17 feels like I am playing a mini game of 'what is going to play out if I press this button'.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I hear you on this... he needs to be removed or muted ASAP from exhibition games. This is my only complaint with the presentation this year. I wonder if 2K can add a hold X option to skip his rants. They are repetitive and irrelevant to what's actually going on in the game..
Truth be said, I'm now playing in 2KU scrimmage mode just to avoid listening to him rant.
The thing is, I'm wondering why my game and many others have this guy in our game. On the consoles it seems that the real coaches are in the game. Is this problem due to me not playing on higher graphic settings on the PC?Comment

[QUOTE=Soze Mucky;2048485516]finally people are starting to see the huge gap there is between 2k17 and 2k16. 2k16 was alot
Only thing I like better on 2k17 is the physics and the new dribble system lots of bugs and malfunctions in 2k17 seems like the game was rushed

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I'm 2k all day and Simnation forever, so it really breaks my heart to say this:
I'm leaning towards being done with this year's game. I love basketball and there are a lot of things I love about 2k17, but there are more things that I hate. I was very open on the show with the Czar regarding how much I hated 2k15. In some ways, 2k17 is uglier.
The warping, sliding, speed boosts, terrible AI on both sides of the ball, loose ball magnetism by the opponent AI(which is really comical in ProAM), loose ball obliviousness by your teammates, a lack of control...It all just makes me feel like this game sucks. And I'm dominating. I just played against Kawhi Leonard and was disgusted by all of his warping and cheating. I still made him go cold by blocking his shot, stealing from him, contesting shots and I shot 70% against him and we won by 20.
It's not about winning and losing. It's about control and honest, balanced gameplay, which 2k17 struggled with out of the box and seems to be getting worse with passes. We asked, (in my case specifically), to have the absurd balloon pass taken out of the game. That's it. That one, really slow, obviously wrong pass. What happens? Now we have several bullet passes that are impossible to react to(literally, because ball travel speed-input latency+animation startup=2k PLS!).
I know this wasn't on purpose. I know they're all working hard. I know their schedule was unfairly(and unwisely) shortened. Thing is, I don't believe that this can all be fixed with the devs quietly reading some of our posts and then bunkering up and patching things. I think they need stronger engagement with the community so that we can specify exactly what the good, knowledgable players feel will result in better game balance across all modes.
This isn't about what I'll do, because who cares and frankly my editors decide how much I can draw comics and how much I can game and I'm good with that. This is about honesty and letting the folks at 2k know that in my opinion, this isn't good enough. The defense isn't doing some things that hardcore players are nitpicking on, they're doing absurd things that anyone who's ever heard of basketball would laugh at. When that's the situation, you've gotta engage your community so we can all work towards getting the beautiful game that could be 2k17 out from behind the terrorist exploit fest holding it hostage.
Unless either something urgent pops up or we start up the new season of SimHangout, I'm done with the boards. I got a lotta work to do and there are a lot of games I've been ignoring while drawing ROMULUS and my Marvel work.
I genuinely hope things get better, but unless the devs start engaging the community more, these boards are just going to be thread after thread of complaints and deservedly so. I can't be around here for that.
Exactly!! Well said Books

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Originally posted by qjrchris2They should go back to selling the game for $20 like they did with 2k5. At least I won't feel cheated out of $100 plus dollars for a broken game. Warping, invisible walls, non existent defense, acrobatic recoveries when the defender gets his ankles broken, warp speed passing, sluggish controls, buggy presentation, HD looking players but the crowd is from last gen (eye sore), crowd sounds are like listening to 2k12 and the list goes on. How can anyone enjoy a game this way and not feel let down, lied to and cheated. I refuse to be a fanboy and ignore obvious problems that occur with this game just because. It's not right and it's not cool to charge consumers an x amount of dollars for something that clearly wasn't ready to be released. If this was another game not named 2k they would have been crucified and been written off as trash and not worthy. Here I see oh give it a chance it's still good or learn how to play the game or you're doing something wrong it's not the game it's you replies to alot of people's complaints. Are we giving this game a pass because there is no other basketball out to play? Is it because some of us have grown up playing 2k games? Now I'm not gonna say how easy it is to make a basketball video game or any video game for that matter but there should be some level of respect to the consumer who yearly fills your pockets. Give us a better playing game. Don't we deserve better than what we have gotten out this years game? I'm tired of hearing 2k cares. It's like a new slogan or something just because a dev gets on here and responds to certain threads. Doesn't really mean anything cause no matter how you slice it the game has become unbearable to play and makes me question if this can even be fixed. For anyone enjoying this years product my hats go off to you. But for a sim guy this has to be one of the biggest if not the biggest 2k let down so far.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
The more i play the more Im so torn on this game. Sometimes its just amazing but when things are bad its just bad. Crazy shooting percentages ive fixed easily adjusting shooting sliders. What i cant fix are the physical interactions leading to brutal ai defense and the psychic ai defending. Ive spent alot of time watching slow motion replays of CPU defenders moving in front of my dribble, usually crossover or spin before my player actually moves. Ive also watched defenders jump to deflect or intercept a pass before my players pass animation even starts. Here's the thing though, the outcome in the big picture is correct. Im getting realistic stats mostly by the end of the game. Its just the way the game is getting the desired sim statistics feels cheap almost or unfair. I dont know what the solution is but i feel animations definetly need some reworking. The game needs to generate how turnovers happen in a more realistic fashion instead of basically forcing certain outcomes in pursuit of realistic statistics. I dunno im no expert at this game and maybe thats part of the problem but sometimes this game can be super frustrating.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
These are the top things bothering me so far in the game
- Sticky individual defense combined with the plays starting up so slowly is really frustrating
- The strip on the drive animation happens WAY WAY too much. So many players with bad steal ratings are doing this to me when I use a good slasher. If I get a player on his heels, he should have to resort to either a hands up contest or hard foul
- Team defense is still pretty bad. Guys have no sense of urgency getting around screens, closing out shooters or stopping cutters.. I played a game where the CPU would jog up the court and hit the big man cutting to the basket about 12 times for an easy score. I probably would've blown them out if not for all of these easy points
- Dribble pick up animations happen too frequently
- Double teams are still happening way too much. The CPU should be limited to using double teams either in a full/halfcourt press situation (near the end of the game), doubling off a screen or doubling on the drive.. THAT's IT. Catching the ball with my star (who was 3/9 at that point, didn't even make consecutive shots) and then having the CPU coming off the second leading scorer on the team in an attempt to double is silly.
- There's an animation where the defender literally shoves the ball handler with two hands and nothing gets called... this needs to be an automatic foul
- CPU still can't simply put their hands up to contest shots.. everything's either a hard foul or block inside (usually the former)
It's still early, but this game really doesn't feel like an improvement over 2K16. I won't say that it's worse just yet. It's a new experience, sure, and it can be fun, but it's not the kind of step forward that 2K15 to 2K16 was.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Game is clearly unfinished. So many things are broken or forgotten it's unbelievable. A lot of these things it's clear they knew about when they were selling too, unless they don't test their games out at all. The moving screens, shooting glitches, and broken ai etc. make the game almost unplayable, especially if you like to play without having to rely on cheesing and controlling all of the most basic tasks.
game is a 3/10, worse than 2k16. They shouldn't bother trying to sell the game early if it means having to take it out of the oven raw.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Oh and getting out of the paint absolutely needs to be tweaked. I shouldn't have to hold turbo and fight my player to get out from the key. I've gotten more 3 in the keys called on me in 2 days than all of the past 5 2K's I've played combined.Comment
