I'm 4-1 on Default superstar with the Wolves right now. I'm not seeing the scoring come from the bigs either. Each games has been pretty realistic as far as touches go. Nothing like what you're seeing. PiP has been less than 50% of total points as well. I only play 10 minute quarters though, as scores were too high for 12 min games.

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Swishes...swishes everywhere!
I know I've mentioned this before, and also last year. But the amount of swishes in the game is way too high, and take away from some of the realism. There needs to be more ball/rim interaction.
But THE worst, BY FAR, is the amount of close shots/layups that are banked, and then swished. It's backboard, then nothing but net 90% of the time on those shots.
Even on and-1's it happens all the time.
Hopefully this can be tuned down. Not only does it hurt the immersion a little, but it just takes away the guess work of "is the ball going in or not"..."am I gonna be able to rebound this, or not".Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I've seen the bank shots that don't look realistic, too. A lot of times a banked layup or close shot will hit the backboard and then gently clip the front of the rim and fall through without moving the net much. You see it all the time on layups in real life.
I'm still waiting for them to add the "hitting the back of the rim and falling straight through without barely grazing the net" shot in the game. Happens on free throws, layups and occasionally jumpshots and 3s. That's the most beautiful shot to me and I've been waiting years for them to add this.
Overall it's a somewhat minor issue but I think better animations in this department would help a lot. But again, I've noticed the poor rim/net animations since at least 2K7...Last edited by fluent2332; 10-08-2016, 01:00 AM.Comment

Doesn't happen a ton in real life, but I've been wanting that in 2K for years now.Last edited by WISports; 10-08-2016, 01:04 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Not sure if we're talking about the same shot, but I LOVE the jumpers/3's that barely graze the back of the rim and has that 'thump' sound. I don't really see it on layups tho. Maybe on high arching runners.

It happens a lot more frequently on layups, though. I see it all the time. Check out TJ McConnell's layup at the 10 second mark of this clip (which came from last night's game):
Happens on high arching runners for sure, too.
Also, the Saric jumpshot in the first 10 seconds is a fun net/rim "rattle around" animation as well. Don't think anything like that exists in 2K, either.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I rarely ever post here (at least I haven't in a while), but I decided to share my thoughts on 2K17 as well. First of all, I wanted to start out by saying this is possibly the most disappointed I've ever been purchasing a 60 dollar game. Part of the reason for that is that I absolutely loved 2K16 (and I've loved every 2K basketball game in the last 10 years), but discovered that this was basically an unfinished copy and paste 2K16, where they were trying to overhaul some things but stopped half-way through, leading to a mess of a game (my impression, at least). With so much potential, its disappointing when they take a step back instead of forward. There are some positives with 2K17, but more negatives, in my mind. To be fair I'll list both.
Positives:
- The skin tones look fantastic. Probably the best they've ever looked.
- The faces look very realistic. If you zoom in to most players (with a few exceptions), their faces are spot on. Can't complain there.
- The lay-up animations are very dynamic and look very realistic, even the sprawling contact ones (which 2K has struggled with in the past).
- The shooting animations look super smooth, even though they were the same as 2K16 (just a better blend, I guess).
- Offensive tip shots were the one type of scoring that was never implemented in any of their games. The tip dunking was broken in 2K16 and impossible (unless done by the CPU). While I haven't done any tip dunks in 2K17, I did a couple of tip shots, which made me smile.
- The skinny body type is both a positive and negative. Its positive because there are a couple of players in the league who are super thin, and it used to bother me that they were bulky in past games. However, they implemented these body types terribly (as has been discussed over and over). So, +1 for creating that body type, -1 for misusing it.
- Defensive stances look great. Movement however, is a different story.
Negatives:
- The movement on offense is simply awful. On offense, your players feel very floating running up the court, but when you go to make a move, they get stuck and either stop moving or get caught in some sort of gather animation. Good luck trying to attack the basket with any sort of urgency (the only exception is when you actually perform a proper dribble move and get by your man, there is a huge burst of speed for a moment). Overall though, it doesn't feel realistic. Also, there are no animations for turning directions that feel natural.
- The movement on defensive is just as bad. The problem is the opposite, however. Instead of being floaty, your players feel very sluggish. Its hard to close out on your man or attempt to play help defense, because it takes way too long to accelerate and often you miss where you are trying to go to.
- Blocking is boring. Its fairly realistic, but not as exciting as 2K16, where you could potentially get a crazy aerial acrobatic block out of bounds.
- The dunk animations are copy and pasted from 2K16. I would think they would at least add a few. (Exception: they did add some fantastic standing post dunks, so props for that)
- They could have also added a few more jump shot animations. But its not too big of a negative because they easily have enough to form most types of jumpshots out there.
- MyCareer and MyTeam. Definitely taken from the free to play mobile model (South Park put it perfectly: Make the game barely fun, but allow you to pay money to make it more fun). I won't go on a rant about that though, its their right as a company, but I just wish they would have given us all the tools to just go nuts and have fun with. MyTeam is fun, to be honest, but there's a complete lack of motivation. They should have come up with some fantasy type scenario (even as outlandish as "The NBA has made the decision that all players are now Free Agents... so teams will re-draft; or have a backstory to your expansion team and owners/media commenting on the progression of your team). My biggest critique of MyTeam is that you can have duplicates, like have a player on your team and play a team with the same player. Ruins the belief instantly.
- Its impossible to play defense when the CPU sets a pick. I've literally seen the pick coming 10 seconds before and still wasn't able to get around it or stay with my man. The animations are too long and recovery is too slow, with the offensive player being too quick.
- Your AI teammates are morons. I know people have talked about ways to fix that as far as help defense and double teams (turning it completely off), but this should not be an issue when it wasn't in 2K16.
- They only added like 6 rookies. The rest are create-a-players. I can do that... 2K has the resources to actually make an original face (even if its not face scanned).
- They removed a bunch of free agents (I used to use the obscure ones to change their name to a rookies name, if they happened to look sort of similar physically, then use them as the rookie)
- Passing feels weird. At first it was too slow, now its too fast. At least they tried to fix it though. I'm sure attempt number two might fix it.
- Dribbling is WAY too delayed. I was playing 2K16 and noticed how responsive dribbling was. In 2K17, it takes like a second before your player does the corresponding move. This leads to tons of turnovers, since you react in the moment, but by the time your player does the move you meant for them to do, the computer already recovered or adjusted.
- Why are there so many animations that aren't usable in the roster creator? Your MyPlayer literally has access to signature alley-oops! Plus, there are like 20 player specific dunk packages that aren't available in roster editor. They are there, why can't we use them offline in quick play if we create our own roster? I totally can understand unlocking them in MyPlayer, which is great (gives you something to work towards), but it would make editing rosters even more robust.
- All the players look smaller, almost like they scaled everyone down a tiny bit. The tall players don't look tall, especially compared to the other players on the floor.
On a side note, a quick way for 2K to fix the body issues is to make it to where the player weight alters their body type when you edit it, like it did in the past (maybe 2K13?). That way, if you aren't happy with a certain player, you can just change their weight and have it alter their body type. Sure, the weight would be incorrect, but its not a random number that rarely comes up during the game, while their body type is seen constantly.
I keep wanting to like this game. I keep trying to play it, hoping it will just start to fix itself and become enjoyable. But it hasn't yet. I was so bored/frustrated that I quit and opened 2K16 and played with the same team and instantly was having a blast, like a breath of fresh air. I'm hoping they release a patch eventually that fixes most of the stuff I mentioned (I'll be real, I don't expect them to fix everything, but if they make it playable, make it fun, I'll be happy). I realized there was almost no incentive to play 2K17 over 2K16. My roster was very customized on 2K16 (I even added most of the rookies, with look alikes that looked better than 2K17's created player models), so with the exception of Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Jamal Murray, and Kris Dunn, there aren't a lot of rookies they legitimately added to this game. The animations are mostly the same as 2K16, so not much incentive there. The only thing better is the skin tone and lighting, which I can live with. Since 2K16 plays so much smoother and is just more enjoyable overall, why play 2K17?
Of course, I'll keep it installed in case they release a patch, then I'll give it another try. Again, I'm assuming the game wasn't in a finished state and we are playing an Alpha. Not their fault, since they had a deadline. But I just am hoping they don't take the mentality that the game is fine since it made some money. If they don't fix it, I definitely won't buy 2K18 at launch. I'll obsessively watch these boards to see what everyone thinks first. If they do recover and fix 2K17, then I'll give them a pass, since I really, really love their games.
And I'm not trying to bash 2K or bash this game. I truly want the game to be in a better state, and I know it can be. They've fixed their past games with patches (though I don't remember them being quite as bad), so I know its very possible.Comment

For me, its unplayable. I cannot stop anyone from getting past me, its beyond a joke. Way unrealistic. Animation when defender catches up to me is a bloody joke, along with the game in general. Feels way underdone, and I feel it came out 3-4 weeks early. Now I have to wait until Christmas until its patched. What a joke.Comment

I came in a couple days ago to talk about how I hated the assistant coach, but 1 thing that I love about the game is the different announce crews. It adds realism and is refreshing to not have to listen to the same people every game.Comment

Yeah, it's definitely in the game. I saw it happen twice in my last game. One on a straight on 3, and one on an elbow jumper.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
We say some passes are too slow and floaty. They make all passes rocket balls now after the patch.
We say guys in 2K16 were generally too thick. 2K17, they give us the scrawny body types that looks like a 6th grade boy.
We say the CPU doesn't shoot enough mid-range jumpers/3's in 2K16. In 2K17, that's all they take. Barely any more driving, even when given an open lane!Comment
