Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
can you post a slider set.
I have yet to complete an entire game, due to all the issues, especially defensive issues in the game. Ive actually gone back to 2k15. IMO thats the version that plays most like todays NBA.
I havent given up on 17 entirely yet though. Im waiting for the next patch before I call it quits with 17 entirely.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Unless something changes drastically I'll leave my 2k impressions as this.
I've been one of the people who have been massively critical of 2k17. At this point after hours and hours of slider tweaks and whatever else 2k have tuned, I've gotten mostly the game I've hoped for. I still get some weirdness here and there and some times feel the games being unfair but overall I'm having a blast now. Should I have had to put that much work into making the game play how it is? No but it is what it is and I'm glad I stuck it out.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mygm is absolutely terrific and super engaging. It's the first time in a long time that I've felt like investing time into multiple years in a franchise.Dubs, Niners, GiantsComment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I did a bunch of trades and managed to draft Kris dunn and Jamal Murray in the first year. Then after year 2 I signed steph curry in free agency. Jamal Murray is starting at shooting guard and quite often dunn is complaining about minutes and his role. I'd say the micro managing of players complaining about minutes is the one thing that bothers me but even then it's not a big deal. I have so many of those morale booster things built up it never gets to be a problem.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Has anyone noticed since the entire patch that hdr effect seems to be actually noticeable on Xbox1 now, or am I just thinking that it is? Anyone know if I'm just placeboing it or what?

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Just bought this game today. Ive played all the versions on next gen. I'm never good at the game, its been too hard for the casual player like myself but this year I dont know what they did but I absolutely love the gameplay. It feels like it's more in flow and motion and rewards you in getting the timing right. I don't feel on Pro level it's too hard like the previous years. I think it plays just right. I really had no excitement about this game and really bought it for my kids but now I can see this going to the top of the playlist.
Graphics wise I guess things look a bit faded in the color section compared to what I remember from last year. It's ok, not complaining. It looks fine.
Only minor gripe is the main menu is awful. Lot of grey space they could have filled.
Otherwise pleasantly surprised.
update : I read some of the impressions in this thread. I see lot are complaining it's not a true sim anymore. I tend to agree but I am happy with that. I think they're trying to go after the casual player. Previous versions the game was really hard for me on default pro.
I like my games sort of mix sim and arcade and I think this year's version got it right. I think it's more like 80 percent sim and 20 percent arcade. Last I think it was like 95 percent sim.Last edited by hyacinth1; 11-07-2016, 12:06 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
the patch was really good this time. i put my diffucllty to all star and put all shooting to 50% and the rest in default, game speed 52 and its actually turns out good. Now both me and cpu miss and make shot whether open or contested.the flow of the game is better. CPU Center cannot make that cheese basket from inbound the only thing missing now is the players appearances so i can play my league and i can finally say that they did an excellent job with this patch. kudos 2kComment

I hope this video will get some attention:
NBA 2K17 Biggest Overall Glitch in 2K: Turning miss shots into makes. We need ANSWERS !
And NO it is not bouncing off the backboard. The ball is not even close to it. I also have never seen a shot that hit the backboard first and there is a second video from the side.Last edited by meccs; 11-09-2016, 05:44 AM.Comment

Are there any PC players here? Has the update been pushed and has there been any improvements to the bad graphical optimization? I'm in the midst of a catastrophic SSD failure induced hiatus from the game (well timed lol), so I'm just wondering."The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Game plays better post patch in my opinion but something still isn't right with taking charges. Whether it's you the user trying to take a charge or an AI controlled player, too often it's set up for a good charge but the offensive player will do this weird slip by animation. Or the defender taking the charge will just get bumped back slightly and not complete the take charge animation by getting knocked over. It just doesn't work right, or not often enough anyhow

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Im disappointed this year. Gameplay can be amazing but also pretty stupid, mainly due to "predetermined" physics and team mates. A lot of things also took a step back, like animations but more importantly the presentation, there is a lot less player cuts, replays, etc. It used to feel so good.
I cant believe im saying this but out of sport games desperation I picked up NHL17 and Im much more immersed in that game (this is EA for gods sake they were always inferior in presentation compared to 2k) ... makes me very sad and not only because I spent money on this.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Defensive 3 seconds isnt quite working right this year. You can get it called if you purposely stand in the paint for a whole play, but that's the only way I've seen it. I think the game is giving too much leeway in terms of the "within arm's length of an offensive player" part of the rule, possiblyLast edited by thechameleon; 11-10-2016, 09:18 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I don't get how 2K can consistently get a pass on some of the things that happen in this game as I believe many of the issues in these titles ruin the integrity of the game. I can deal with bugs and glitches, what I can't deal with is 2K ignoring the basic principles of basketball, physics itself and even just general common sense just to force certain outcomes. Particularly when it's human vs A.I., the user is expected to abide by certain rules and logic that the A.I. doesn't have to, which gets increasingly worse and more apparent with higher difficulties. This is stuff that is observable within the game that people consistently ignore. Things like balls teleporting directly into a player's hands during loose balls (which I could forgive, if it didn't almost always happen during moments where a given player could not realistically get the ball otherwise). Or otherwise slow players being given temporary speed boosts just to help them stay in front of a faster player.
Physics and momentum being given the middle finger, like when a player is stumbling all over the place, but an invisible force field around the baseline prevents the player from going totally out of bounds (unless the game allows it), or when players are able to straight up pass through their defender's body parts sometimes, but not able to other times (again, entirely dictated by the game's mood). Physics is one of the most important part of basketball, and 2K will literally rewrite it in favor of flashy animations. Certain strategies are completely negated in 2K because the game simply has no consistency in what it will allow and what it won't allow.
And defense is still an absolute joke, and that is objective. Great defensive players routinely either leave their assignments to unnecessarily help a player that doesn't need help, or they'll even just stare off into the distance while their guy runs RIGHT past them. Every player plays defense like James Harden, the game doesn't care if you're a Kawhi Leonard or a Shawn Marion or a Scottie Pippen. Defensive breakdowns happen in a basketball game, but not nearly to this extent and not without the offense forcing them to happen. Defensive players in the hands of the user are often slow and lethargic and have the reaction time of a sloth, with barely any effort being shown on the defensive end. Sometimes defenders will contest a shot by jumping backwards. Why???
Don't get me wrong, there's elements of a great basketball game in here, but none of its complexity matters if the basics don't. No amount of dribble moves or playcalling or strategy matters when the game has already decided on what's going to happen during this play.Comment
