Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
If you trade him during the '17 draft the question would become is Brook Lopez at 29 years old with one year left on worth a top 3 pick? I would say he's not.
Next question would be if does Brooklyn have anything to thrown in to sweeten the deal?
Third question would be does Lopez fit with that team, as many teams already have centers and while Lopez may be an upgrade, would he be a big enough net positive over what they have to give up an early draft pick.
Here's a good article about the market for him: http://basketball.realgm.com/article...or-Brook-Lopez
I read this article but writers are not manager and everything is possible.....
What would you think about this trade:

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
Gortat to the Nets doesn't help you in your pursuit of a young point-guard. Even if the Wizards are that eager to get out of Gorat's contract (I don't think they are, he works for them and though his deal is a year longer than Lopez's, he's not that much worse than Brook; you could also argue his durability is better than Lopez's, so that's a point in his favor and an important point), they won't be sending an unprotected 1st your way this season -- they sent a protected pick to the Suns last season for Morris they were forced to convey and in a stacked draft (with John Wall a possible threat for leaving the team when his contract runs out in 2018), the Wizards would likely keep the 2017 1st rounder and draft someone they could groom into a Wall replacement if he left.
There's no level I see this deal working for any team. I would look elsewhere.Comment

do you have any proposal for me with athletic point guard.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
If you're looking to get rid of Lopez for an "athletic" PG, that's a tough sell. Athleticism at the PG position generally means a young player with solid potential on a really cheap contract -- likely their first.
Trading Lopez for a player like that requires either:
A) a team desperate for a center like Lopez, which aren't that many -- Lopez is an old-school, high-usage scoring center much in the same vein as Greg Monroe and fitting a modern pace and space offense around him isn't easy (and may not be good for anyone).
OR
B) you to toss some serious assets someone's way to get said guard; except you don't have those assets thanks to Billy King. Boston owns your soul for the next two years in terms of draft picks. Your leverage is virtually non-existent unless you start throwing in young players -- like Levert or McCollough -- but both those guys are "maybe" good players and have their own issues (not to mention both have been injured recently in their career and neither exactly "lit it up" in college).
If you're looking to move Lopez for a better point guard, I'd take a crack at the Suns. Brandon Knight could be your man, he's better than Lin at this point and young (24-25 I think). He's on a pretty good contract (for the next 4 years) and his play would benefit from starter minutes.
That said, the Suns wouldn't just give him away. Phoenix is in a weird spot and, if they're trading him, they'll need a clear upgrade at Center, which you have in Lopez, AND they'll need you to take some bad contracts off their hands -- say hello to Tyson Chandler at least.
Lopez would also have to be accompanied by something or someone and Bogdanovic (spelling?) would be of tremendous help to the Suns as a starter/backup SF. His shooting would really benefit them. Toss in a 2nd round pick (all you can offer) and I think the Suns would, at the very least, consider it. I don't know if they'd pull the trigger (Lopez is a clear upgrade, is out of his deal in ... two years I think? ... but there are questions if he's a fit in a modern offense, which the Suns would be running).
You don't have much to work with realistically, sadly. Billy King really screwed the Nets hard with that disastrous trade with Boston. But that's the best idea I have at this juncture for you.
Honestly, I'd just nix the point guard search for now, trade Lopez away to someone in need of a good center for a 1st round pick and a poor contract (not necessarily a bad player, just one who's overpaid and who has more years on his deal than Lopez; the contract will grease the wheels for the trade) and call it a day. The Nets will get a 1st rounder in 2017 (Boston has a swap option, not an outright "Take our pick" like they do in 2018 for the Nets), so if you can acquire another one now for Lopez, you might be able to use both to move up in the 2017 draft to get your athletic point guard.
Or use both to draft talent, because the 2017 draft projects as one that'll be deep and the Nets don't have much talent at this point.Last edited by trekfan; 10-06-2016, 12:39 PM.Comment

Phoenix or New Orleans could could be a good spot if the Nets willing to take on Chandler or Asik. The Nets would get their 1st Rounder either Top 10 or Lottery Protected or they could take a guy like Knight or Evans, instead of the 1st.. I think if either of those teams could get rid of the bad contracts (Chandler/Asik), then the would be willing to part with Knight or Evans or a protected 1st, even though Lopez probably wouldn't make them that much better. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
This is pretty much what I've been thinking for Lopez, as well. Their best bet is to send him out to a team that could use him and take a bad contract (at least Brooklyn can afford it) and a protected draft pick back.

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
For me, a better solution when trying to send Lopez to the Phoenix.
Lopez, Lin, Bogdanovic for Chandler + Knight + 1st round
?????? 😁

I'd opt for the pick. Or you could do your trade and call it good, again, it's your MyLeague. Do as you will.Comment

I'm thinking about doing a variation of this trade myself. What do you think about this?
*NOLA would send BRK a future 2nd or two?
I've always wanted to bring Chandler back to NOLA and he actually isn't that much better than Asik in 2k. Two OVR better and only one more badge (8 to 7). Also, Asik also only makes around 2 million more than Chandler over the life's over their remaining contracts. Chandler's numbers are first:

I'm starting a wolves franchise and I'm a huge ku fan. Wanting to get embiid from sixers. They already have 3 bogs and need a passing pg to get the ball to them. I was thinking Rubio and 2017 1st for embiid. Is that realistic or is someone getting flossed.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread
I don't know the contract scenario surrounding these players but at first glance that doesn't sound like a bad trade to me. But I'm no expert. I browse this thread every day because I love the advice that guys like Trekfan give on trades."Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present!"Comment
