Looks like a lot of people have Stockholm Syndrome in here...

There's good business and bad business. If some company makes an NBA game that doesn't seem all about ripping me off, I will have no loyalty to 2k and burn all of my NBA 2k CDs.

EA does have an NBA game, so you could buy that. Or you could just not play an NBA game. I don't buy Madden because I don't like Madden and all their focus on MyTeam. So I don't play an NFL game. I don't spite buy Madden so I can complain about their business model.

Man, what do you guys think is the best case scenario for 2K moving forward? Continue to slightly increase vc costs? Seperate the game into online and sp? If you want to address the REAL root of the problem (players want to be Superstars in MyPark on Day 1), I don't think there's any real way to do it. You could make MyPark exclusively an online mode, and the only way that you can level up is by playing the games. However, there would too much separation between elite and alright players. Second, basketball is too dependent on being a team concept, it would be difficult to create reasonable rank-up rewards. Not only that, if you play someone who's always a ball hog, then it would be hard for you to get your necessary stats to rank-up. Plus, someone who buys the game around Christmas would be too much at an disadvantage jumping into MyPark - Ironically, to this consumer segment, buying VC would be a godsend.

Perhaps you could use the player types exclusively online, then give a certain amount of attribute points where they push their player to just below 90? Everyone would be even on ground on Day 1. From there, 2K Sports could release different parks (aka maps) through the course of the year which you could be purchased individually or with a season pass. VC could be exclusively used for clothing, accessories, and elite dunk/jumpshot/layup packages.

The thing is...2K Sports is probably making a killing on VC purchases, so how do you tweak the current model where 2K Sports is still profitable with the additional revenue stream, but make it easier on the consumer? No matter what people want to believe, 2K Sports is not going scrap the concept of VC.

I'm more of a franchise mode type of guy in sports games, that's where I get most of my VC from in 2K. I have never been on the microtransaction boat for anything. My only gripe is that you are forced to use the same player for your career, for online as well. I love Pro-Am, but do not enjoy MyCareer. I would prefer they were seperate. The grind is a huge turn off for me. I won't pay for my guy to get boosted up to a competent rating, which friends of mine did for various reasons, I like to earn it. Last year's cap was a bummer that I had to grind more in practice, which I dig the premice of, but I'd like an online version of it. I'm probably going to just build my VC through a MyLeague or MyGM again. Just my opinion. In short, I'd like to be able to earn as much VC playing Pro-Am as I would playing through a career...

GTA gives out free content because they sell 65 million copies. NBA 2k sold 8 million copies last year. So it takes NBA 2k eight years to achieve as many copies sold as GTA.

Battlefield and COD basically force you to purchase the Premium service (which brings the total sold to $110 per copy) to get the full experience. 2k doesn't force you to buy anything. You can achieve anything in the game you want just by playing. Sure, you might have to play a lot, but you can do it.

I still don't understand why VC is such a big deal around here. You DO NOT have to buy VC. They give you VC for free every time you play the game! The app gives you free VC just for logging in! They hand out locker codes randomly with VC included! They gave out 5k VC just for buying the game for pete's sake.

Last year, when I finally stopped playing the game, I had 50k VC saved up just by playing the game because I had nothing to spend it on because I didn't play MyCareer.

People just like to complain...Seriously, this guy is comparing a first person shooter and a MMO style game to a basketball game..That pretty much tells you what kind of idiot you're dealing with.

I was going to call out their generation earlier in the thread, but I wasn't trying to get banned, lol. Some of the comments that's been said, remind me of my son who wants everything handed to him with the least amount effort on his part.

That's the problem with 2k... they're trying to copy the Korean MMOs and addict their customers to a grind in order to get money from them.

You think it makes someone an idiot for pointing out a money scheme? A lot of their customers are little kids, so its easy for them to take advantage of you.

You should be complaining for a better game.. if you tell them "just change the box art to 2k17 from 2k16 and I'll pay you $60" then they WILL do just that.

Yea, I quit playing Madden years ago for pretty much these same reason. 2K is the only sports game I play any longer and I am beginning to wonder how much longer I will if the trend to make the game eSports-centric continues. I don't mind that it is there but when it becomes the excuse to diminish my gameplay I have to start reconsidering my buying decision. I waited till the last minute this year and only finally placed my order upon hearing of the MyGM/ML improvements.

Wait, aren't people arguing that they don't want to pay to skip the hard work, but instead want the game to be based upon purely the amount of hard work you put in without monetization??
