    It's your defensive settings.

If you have lets say "Moderate - Off-Ball" on a guy like Drummond that likes to or operates in the paint you get this.

For some reason, the game doesn't seem to have a way to adjust to the "Moderate" setting. So your player sees his defender and thinks, "I need to stay a moderate distance from this man". What it does is either sits your player out of bounds initially to maintain the "Moderate setting" or puts him somewhere else on the court to meet that defensive setting (sometimes in front or far out on the wing).

Then your player realizes his man in in the post and tries to adhere to your post settings [Behind, 3/4 Bottom, etc.] and attempts to reverse thrusters and get back into position to defend the post.
and to that all I can say is, what the ****

thank you for the explanation. all of these years i've been setting my defense to sag off non jump shooting bigs in an effort to get them to sink back into the paint when someone like Deandre Jordan is standing around the three point line. smh

Very important note: Make sure you recognize the formation the opponent is in. Playing "Tight" or "Deny" on a team using a scheme like Swing or Slice will get you roasted on back-door cuts ALL DAMN DAY.

Those two playsets specifically put four players on the arc and one big at the top of the key. Playing "Tight" or "Deny" gives the offensive players room to break straight to the basket and because defenders can't turn around like a human being it's very difficult to guard.

"Tight" and "Deny" work well with like a 3-2 zone or anything like that but will get you eaten alive with certain sets.

Re: The CPU is cheating to score on an absurd amount of possessions

can someone plz explain these things to me. Why does my center hang out at the 3pt line on both offense and defense? I have him set for gap on defense and he's still way out at the 3pt line defending a non threat. Actually noticed I have to baby set my Center and PF because they always seem to let their defender get the inside position at the rim for and easy lay up or dunk. It's very cheap. I feel like the CPU cheats to get majority of their points.

The game is not balanced at all. CPU has crazy reaction time getting blocked shots and rebounds. Can throw cross court passes while the user can't. Can dribble and do spin moves without losing the ball near defenders while the user loses ball. Can pull up and drain 85% of their shots in transition but if user does it it's a brick. Game is straight BS and getting all the CPU cheese on superstar difficulty. They should have to earn their shots just like me not cheat to get them. Also real shooting% option sucks it doesn't work. I'm shooting .145% from the 3 with Bradley Beal but can can can stay around almost 50% with Wall and Shabazz Muhammad.

Because you have your defensive setting on "Gap". The defender is trying to stay as far away from his assignment as he can so that he can help on defense. Try using "Moderate" or "Tight" and use Pre-Rotate to "Yes".

That way you stay closer to your man and can rotate off in case you need to bring help defense. It won't completely solve your issue, but it will help alleviate it.

Re: The CPU is cheating to score on an absurd amount of possessions

All of the videos in this thread has happened to me every game. And the CPU seems to beat my center back down the floor at least 4 to five times a game. If you score my center gets caught at half court watching while his man runs straight to the basket, even if I have on Limit Transition.

My AI defenders are constantly getting shifted so the CPU and get a easy bucket.

Hell even with the aim perfect and the shot meter 95% full and no hand in my face I miss shots. It's frustrating as ****.

Whenever CPU wants a bucket they get it with a fastbreak leak out after a make. Usually this sparks a run by CPU, and you will notice loss of control. It on SS and HOF.

              Real talk. Not harder...still cheap.

Re: The CPU is cheating to score on an absurd amount of possessions

Damn dude, for the first time in 17 years i don't even want to play 2k. I try to steer clear of "over-reacting" threads and such because i understand the process but offline and online gameplay really is suffering this year.

I don't know what the issue is with balance and some of these A.I movement mistakes and FB logic and silly animations but man you can really tell the game came out earlier this year. That's no slight to the team, I understand how difficult it is to work on a strict time limit and somewhat limited resources.

Everyone has different "game-killer" type situations and so i dont want to say the game is killed for me but i really dont want to play, half the time i feel like im fighting the game the other half some form of shenanigans is happening.

There's a "simulation" moment 4 out of every 10 possessions. The rest is; needing to call timeout to avoid a 3 second violation because your player is stuck in the paint bumping into the defender, getting charging called for holding the joystick up and no turbo, getting snatched in fastbreak situations after turnovers, and of course the weird defensive A.I of your teamates in all types of situations...

It sucks man because i keep thinking I'm doing something wrong and maybe i should stop complaining but even after setting every defensive setting correct, playing slower, letting animations play out or whatever, still...

Im really trying not to be a negative Nate, and i hope some things can get fixed by patch but it kinda stinks the only game i have ever really played for the last 17 years isn't even fun anymore.

Not sure why 2K has never gotten this right. Again, the devs should go look at NBA Live 10. It was the only game I could consistently draw charges in in a realistic way.

Quick explanation - Position/timing/if the offensive player was using turbo or not all mattered (especially the turbo). I averaged 2 or 3 charges drawn per game even against my very skilled sim opponents. You could sense if the opponent was getting frustrated or trying to rush and inbound the ball, jet up the court, etc.. Soon as they did, boom - charge drawn.

NBA Inside Drive did charges and blocking fouls the best out of any hoop game i've ever played.
