      When it was first introduced to my league, most didnt like it. The best thing you can do to have a fun game is turn off shot meter, turn off def assist, and put shot contezt on manual. It opens up the pull up game and helps temper the turbo closeouts.

        I hate auto contest . It makes me contest shots in pro am that I don't want to. As a big sometimes it's better for me to box out.

          Absolutely. Nothing worse than having your big man come out to contest a midrange shot and then give up an offensive rebound.

            I could kinda live with that, but what's worse is the actual sluggish player movements....

            It's too heavily animated and your player can't quickly respond to gettings back on defense...

              It's crappy when you can't get your own rebound because you are stuck in an animation.

                        I don't want to them to be dropping a lot but it seems most contested shots on this game is definitely off. I would like to see it raised a tiny bit NEXT year. Tired of any changes this year.

                        Yeah, id say most of the contested shots get air balled or brick the majority of the time. I don't want them to be automatic but like you said I'd like them to be raised a bit.

                          That's the only way to make a skill gap though. Raise open % and drop contested%.

                            I agree. I just got done watching some of my old 2K11 Crew videos and I still think the shooting was amazing. I wish I had time to crop out all the plays but if you didn't really have your hands up or jump, there was a decent shot of them hitting in your face especially on a late contest. So on watching these videos you see a lot more jumping compared to now because you just have to walk into them.

                            Even though I believe the 3PT% should be raised slightly because almost all the top crews and players barely shot over 40% during that time.

                            I know that's realistic but I understand somewhat when people say it's a video game. You do have to raise those numbers a little for video game sake.

                            If you have time where you're just chilling or something watch this game and some shots that would be considered super contested in 2K17 and like you said possibly be an air ball. Also if you watch, check out how the big man can do a jab or something and face up and shoot. Don't really happen in '17.

                              I think 2K over did it on contesting but they did what they did in order to balance the game to ship this thing out.

                              The impact of contest a realistic contest of a shot is usually in the 2ft -4ft range. This impact usually reduces shooters on average about 5% from their open success rate. I am talking on average some players sometime shoot better when contested which is weird but it happens. Their was a study I read on NBA.com about it a couple years ago.

                              I looked up all teams and here it is

                              The entire NBA as in total

                              Open 4-6 ft 2pt 42%
                              Wide open 6 ft+ 2pt 44%

                              Open 3pt 4-6 ft 36%
                              Wide open 6 ft+ 3pt 38%

                              Tight contested 2-4 ft 2pt 38%
                              Tight contested 2-4 ft 3pt 32%

                              So basically
                              Open - Contest was 4.77% on 2pt jumpers so reduce by
                              Open - Contest was 5.21% on 3pt jumpers so reduce by

                              A contest should only account for something close to that across the NBA
                              If Green success wasn't automatic they wouldn't need to make contesting so dramatic

                                Mike...for those of us on hof sim settings.. Were we supposed to change the hof sim sliders back to the default state out of the box when 3s were at 47 and mids were at 45. Currently, post tuning, the hof sim sliders are still at your suggested 37 for both 3s and mids. Please clarify if you failed to mention MLO and ML hof sim sliders needing to be readjusted to the default hof sim sliders. Or maybe you tuned the shooting percentages with the current hof sliders in mind. Either way, let me know your thoughts. The tuning may have over corrected for the OP shooting as I'm seeing regular occurrences of teams shooting in the 30s percentage wise in MLO post tuning. I will continue to provide you more feedback after a bigger sample size, but in the mean time would like some clarification of the recommended slider set on hof sim post tuning.
