Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
The thing that I hate is the 2k apologists. I saw a mf defending 2k charging for haircuts by saying "You have to pay for irl haircuts, they're just making the game more realistic."

Yea but that's the thing. I not spending my VC on something I think is dumb to do so. It's that simple. I use VC to upgrade my player, maybe get some gear, and mygm . All the other stuff I don't waste on. Wanna show 2k, stop spending and that will be the best way to make them listen if it really is as much of a problem for gamers as some say here.

I'm close to abandoning videogames as a whole. I'm older now and they just don't entertain me as much.
Games are supposed to be an escape from politics and disagreements.
This game and Madden are two most toxic communities and companies out there.

BUT it may be you get to that point where you say: forget all the extra stuff and get back to why you started gaming in the first place- having fun....Thats where I am...i'll put the controller down for good when I'm not.
(unrelated to the conversation in general)

This thread is dead. Everyone is angry and arguing. Either someone is going to take action or we are going to sit here fighting. This happens every year with 2k.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
If you genuinely don't have time to play, there's a reason..focus on that.
Like I said, I have the time...but it's how much time do I want to invest when it's not enjoyable to me?
Time is money, I'd rather just spend it and get the VC and be having fun online being competitive.
I don't agree with that being the case, that's what I'm saying.
We should be able to play modes and not have to feel a burden of grinding to get to what we wanna do and have fun. To me, VC has always been more of a way of gaining revenue than just a means of upgrading your players.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
The thing is, it doesn't take that long to get a competent competitive player that you can win with, and you don't have to play against 86's+ if you don't want to.
Everyone acts like you're stuck with 4 archetypes you have to get to 99.
It literally takes a week to get into the 70's from a 55.
It shows you the level of those on the court and off the court around you. If you don't want to play a 86 or a 93 you don't have to. You can walk off the court anytime you want and you can choose which court you want to walk on.
There are new people starting new archetypes every day, which spreads out the level of competition.
If you want to enjoy the game with a fairly competitive player, you need a high 80 at the least, point blank. If you want to try a different archetype, you're SOL and have to grind again. Taking away the MyCareer requirement was a good start, but people still should voice their concerns because we could have a much better system.51 & 55

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
What's funny is that you obviously haven't read the thread. At no point has anyone chastised these guys for feeling the way they do. Being unhappy with VC is totally valid. I have reiterated that multiple times. I challenege you to find a post by anyone saying they shouldnt or cant vent. No one is shouting them down or saying it doesnt matter. MC isnt my mode of choice but i have played it so do know something about the grind. No has has called them "kids". In fact, theyre the ones blaming folks who buy VC like they're the problem when its just business. Thats all anyof this is. No one has done anything that you have alleged. Next time actually read and understand the context before jumping in with a slick comment.
- find a new game or dont buy it
- stop being a kid, its a business. businesses are out for money
- stop whining/complaining
those are just a few of the predictable/generic responses youll get.
ive read the thread, if im misunderstanding the replies - ok.
but this place is always the worst right before a game releases and right after. with that said ✌, ill see you guys around thanksgiving/christmas
i hope everyone enjoys their mode of choice. seriously, we're all gamers and none of us want to see another gamer frustrated or annoyed (unless we're whooping that ***)
take it easy fellas 😎

I'm not being dismissive of anything. And dude i was responding to has admitted that he may have missed some things in the thread. So, yeah... And the other quote of mine was a response to some guy (the same one moaning about VC prices, mind you) saying we should have pay more to upgrade a MC player. Like its some punishment or something. I play MC for the story. That's it. I couldn't care less about online or VC. If I did care about being an 80, and 2K charged some exorbinant price, that's how I'd handle it. Seeing as I do play the mode I can have an opinion, right? Maybe playing ML is why I have so much VC in the first place? Anyway, I'm done. For real this time.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I'm kind of confused with this complaint. If it was easy to earn VC and upgrade your player wouldn't it kind of defeat the purpose of the mode? Isn't building and upgrading your character suppose to be part of the experience. If it was easy to do then everyone would have players rated 90+ a week after release.
To me it's like any RPG or MMO. Leveling up is part of the fun. If it was easy to get close to a max level the game would get boring rather quickly. I think of a game like Destiny. As frustrating as the grinding was in the first game, once max level was reached there was almost nothing left to do until a new expansion released.
Now I understand the complaints about somethings that require VC, like haircuts and accessories, but I do feel a mode like this requires a grind-like system. Maybe there is a better way to do it without VC, like Live's system for example, but leveling and maxing out a player shouldn't be quick and easy.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Last checked, none of what you said is the case. Do we even legit know what caps are or what each thing cost? And what is your opinion on what a dunk package or upgrading your player to an 80 or elite dribble moves should cost (again in virtual currency which is earned in almost everything you do in the game)? Just curious.
What makes our eyebrows raise is when they do stuff like this:
1. Last year it cost 150-175 to get to an 86. This year it's 200 to get to 85. Not only that...you can't see your attributes as you level up. What's up with this?
2. Less and less VC given out in the mobile app each year
3. Adding things to a paywall that previously weren't there (Dribble moves, haircuts, etc.)
So stuff like this is why we ask what's going on, and try to get them to meet us in the middle, or at least stop it from getting worse. And it keeps getting worse, what's to stop them from inflating it even more next year?
As for what I think dunks and elite dribble moves should cost? These are things that should be unlocked as your player levels up its rep. It's kind of like what they did in the park last year, when you reach a certain rep, you get the opportunity to equip these animations.
I'm not trying to make VC disappear, I know that in game currency is going to exist in all games in some form. Just don't like it when so much of it is required to make your guy on the same level as someone else's. I haven't seen or read about any matchmaking system they have, so it's not like we can pick and choose who to play.

Tiered matchmaking really would help solve a lot of this, but as of now, I'm not sure their matchmaking system is very good. You still have games where you could get matched up with 4 other wing players and your team doesn't have a big..meanwhile the other team has 3 centers because the game just randomly put them together.Last edited by ph33; 09-11-2017, 03:13 PM.Comment

At this point I'm convinced that some of these guys just want to complain. All this crying and moaning but still buying the product knowing full well what it entails like they have no self control. Many are the same people who complained about 2K17 ad nauseum. Yet, here they are again. VC ain't going anywhere. Not this year or next, or the year after. Let's be generous and say 1000 people on OS, twitter and Facebook mad vs hundreds of millions in additional revenue. It's clear as day.Comment
