Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Preach my brother Preach !I really wish 2K could add some old fashioned body language and mannerisms to classic players or at least have an option as an animation package in the player edit screen. I honestly think this feature should have been included since 2K12.
It's really odd to see James Worthy chest bumping players to salute them or watching Jeff Hornacek entering the court with swag and nodding his head as in saying "Oh yeah!", or Terry Cummings hyping the crowd after scoring an and 1 (he's a super low key person, almost stoic).
Back in the day, there were only a few players that displayed the brand of mannerism seen today. Chuck Person is a great example of someone who really got hyped and displayed the array of moves in this department whenever he made big shots, Dominique too (but to a lesser extent). Tim Hardaway was similar in this regard.
Reggie Miller was a showman when celebrating and in player introductions, but more in the Michael Jackson kind of way. Mark Jackson had his own funky celebration style too, especially after making a great assist, that has nothing to do with what is seen in todays game...And how about the old 3-pointer made celebration: just both arms raised and no 3 fingers.
Other players, depending on the context and/or opponent didn't even shake hands at the beginning or end of the game (Bird or Laimbeer for example). Low fives and players bumping their hands to their chests? Non-existent.
How about players having a laugh or chatting with each other (teammates and opponent who are not sworn enemies)? Or even players greeting the opposition coaches or assistants at the end of the game (again, given they are not sworn enemies).
I know it's a minor thing, but really with all the animations 2K are capable of developing, how difficult it is to add old-fashioned handshakes at tip-off and end of the game, embraces, pats on the back or a simple low fist bump at tip-off?"Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Right there with you. A selection of low key, simplistic era specific animations or after basket actions shouldn't be a major issue for 2k, at all. It would really crank up immersion. I notice they've dropped MJ's famous reaction after he dunked on Zo - that was in the game for YEARS.I really wish 2K could add some old fashioned body language and mannerisms to classic players or at least have an option as an animation package in the player edit screen. Tacking on to that - one thing that I have spoken about A LOT on the board is 2k stepping up and giving us ACCURATE or at least semi accurate arena sounds for the classic teams. It's a tough gig to play in any of their home courts as they're simply devoid of their classic sounds. We all know it's do-able as back in 2k11 and 2k12 this was a thing. It actually felt like I was playing in Chicago Stadium not just visually, but audibly, too.-----------------------------------------

Exactly! Sound is such an integral part of the experience. I've always wanted classic arena horns too.Right there with you. One other thing I was thinking the other day was that they could even include some classic arenas via current team licenses. Portland and Phoenix are two teams that in recent years have played pre season games at their respective Veterans Memorial Coliseums. The Phoenix Mercury play at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum too! I they add WNBA arenas in 2k21, some of the models could be used in place of the generic retro arenas. Hopefully they'll keep recent arena files such as The Palace, The Great Wesetrn Forum, Target Center, Bradley Center and Arco Arena.
Also Dave, if you consider it useful I think it would be nice to add this thread to the first post (as a hint at for new classic teams for 2K):
About a couple of years back I also started a document in the hopes that 2K would add these off-hand skills/tendencies to all players and assign proper eye color to classics (as they add to the realism of their faces). If anyone would be interested to add further to the documents, let me know and I will grant you access so you can edit them:

In an effort to eliminate unnecessary celebrations from some of the legends has anyone tried to edit personality badges? I know they have badges like reserved, friendly, extremely confident, expressive, laid back.Comment

Seems like classic teams have taken a backseat this year as far as rosters go. I haven’t seen anyone do tendencies, sig shots, coaches, playbooks none of that stuff. Last couple years seemed like there was quite a few. Atleast on ps4Comment

On Xbox One, we have edited the 60's, 70's, 80's & 10's teams with added bonus teams. Check the Hyperballer21 & DC All-American thread for updates on progress on their project.
We also have current players fully edited based on opening night. Working our way through the 2000's and lastly the 1990's.
If you are on Xbox One give it a try and send us your feedback.....

I’d love to see more accurate celebrations. When they added a few to Shawn Kemp last year I was thrilled. The comment about only guys like Person & Wilkins being really demonstrative was right on. Seeing Stockton beat his chest is just weird.
More players with signature celebrations would be great.
MarkJackson
90’s Knicks chest bumps
Nique
Drazen Petrovic
Most players should have really understated moves. A low key high five or something for guys like James Worthy or Brad Daugherty.
Speaking of signature moves, is the Karl Malone dunk in this year?

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
The game needs more old-school reaction animations and emotions in general.
Team unity hugs for special occasions like title celebrations, series clinchers, making a huge play or avoiding elimination:
"Confrontations" (For players who loved to psyche-out their opponents):
Contextual emotions for special plays or missed chances (for players who can get hyped easily):
Bench/Camera fun (for characters):
Camaraderie (teammates and rivals):

That is my era right there. Seeing X-man getting in guys faces, Malone pumped after a dunk. That’s exactly the type of thing they need to add to the game. That would add so much to the experience.
Crazy as it sounds, I’m having trouble getting used to rarely wearing white at home. lol Just thought that seeing Jordan in the home jersey.

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Well, you can enjoy it again if you opt to collect old games. I went into collecting 80s/90s games in high quality digital format (converted from TV master tapes) a few years ago and it's been a blessing to have the opportunity to enjoy them every other week (including the pregame shows and halftime!).
Since I don't enjoy the way the game is played today, this hobby is "my NBA".
I'm the same as you. The lack of contrast team courts have because they're wearing their road uniform at home makes everything look kind of bland...Today it would be the Bulls wearing their red jerseys at the Stadium and the Nuggets wearing either their roads or white...no thanks.Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.Comment

I haven't watched the NBA for many years, I really loathe what's become of the game.Well, you can enjoy it again if you opt to collect old games. I spend a lot of time watching full games from the 80's and 90's reliving those golden years. I absolutely LOVED the game and it's abundance of stars back then. Legit big men. Post up and mid range games. Rivalries. Players making their teams better instead of running away to form super teams who do little else but over dribble and live on the 3 point line.
I know it's all era/age bias on my part, but hey - I'm not apologizing!-----------------------------------------
