Appreciate it man, thank you very much!!
My dream is that they get rid of the old P.Gasol and give us his regular version.
Also normal L.Walton instead of the old coach version, would be nice

I wish they'd add younger + older versions of more recent guys like Tony Parker, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce, Pau Gasol, etc. Either make them optional using the "style" option or just make separate younger face models.

Are they applied to older existing custom rosters too? Or are we still stuck with the older scans?

Also does anyone have a list of all the players changed?

EDIT: Oh I thought those were new scans from an update. I figure they’re showcasing 2K23 scans in general?

2K did an incredible job year this with re-creating MJ -- my hat goes off to them. This is the most fun I have had playing a basketball game in 35+ years of gaming.

That said, I don't feel the game captures MJ's elegance, artistry, and especially his demeanor, as accurately as it should have. As we all know, there was no athlete in the history of sports as fiercely competitive as MJ was...

Even still, he was never the type to outwardly express his arrogance by pounding his chest, flexing his muscles, prancing down the court with a hand cupped to his ear (ala Allen Iverson). He could get angry and have a scowl on his face, and occasionally bark at a ref or an opposing player, but besides celebrating after championships, MJ was highly composed on the court and kept his emotions in check (read: disciplined).

2K has him acting like a flexing, gloating, showboating player, which he wasn't. If you're like me, and this bothers you, I changed the following 2 badges:
            - Reserved=Equipped
            - Expressive=Unequipped

More importantly, though, is how MJ played, with grace, smoothness, and artistry. Most of his dunks in 2K are too gaudy and outlandish, and he finishes his dunks all wonky and flailing and out of control. And quite frankly the "Jordan package" of dunks -- featuring his iconic Rock The Cradle and Tomahawk dunks -- look nothing like how MJ did it. The real MJ had a certain "flair" and style, and at the same time control and balance to dunks.

Hence, these are the Signature dunk packages that I felt closer resembled MJ-styled dunks:
            .
            .
            .

Also...while MJ blazed the trail for baggy shorts in the late 80s/early 90s, he didn't quite take it to the extent of the Michigan Fab 5, or Allen Iverson. So I set his shorts length to 2, or 3 at the longest ...

I can’t tell you how much I disagree with this “reserved MJ” take. MJ was a killer on the court. Showed tons of emotion. My not have been a literal chest beater but he had his share of altercations and demonstrative outbursts. There is literal video evidence of this on the internet for those too young to have seen him play live like myself or too senile to accurately remember.

Where did I say that he didn't show emotion on the court? Where??? I wasn't claiming he didn't have his outbursts, or that he didn't get tossed out of games (he did). What I'm saying is 2K's way of conveying MJ's personality or emotion is not as accurate. The "swagger" in 2K is more "new school", more cocky, showy for the cameras.

Also...senile? Seriously, dude? You admit to being "too young to have seen him play" --- Therefore, you weren't around to regularly watch Bulls games on TV during the 90s then, right? Or have boxes of Bulls games on VHS tapes still? You are going strictly off compilation videos, right? Yeah, okay.

This is more in regards to his after basket celebration style etc.

Jordan did little more than fist pumps, and the famous leaping fist pumps in big situations. He never ran back up court holding up 3 digits and kissing them after a trey, or did little dances or those silly type current NBA celebrations after a made basket.

You'd normally get a glance, or if he was cooking, a back peddle jog, or talk some trash after a made shot.

We know MJ could get animated over calls and botched plays etc, no-one is debating that.

iLLWiLL (and daveberg) bring up good points. Jordan's greatness can't be understood from merely watching YouTube compilations, and neither can his expressions.

For instance, there's a well-known clip of Jordan dunking on Alonzo Mourning in Chicago in 1993, then screaming: YouTube shows Jordan being expressive. However, video compilations don't give you the whole story. The ONLY reason he did that was because Alonzo Mourning was screaming when he got a block and/or dunk, so Jordan was actually mocking him. The context behind Jordan (and his emotions) is key.

Another example is the famous clip of Jordan driving in the lane in the 1992 Conference Semis in New York where he makes the And-1, swings his arm, and yells at some Knicks who were out-of-bounds. The reason he did that is because the Knicks had been extremely physical in games 1 and 2 and were continuing to do so in game 3--Jordan even checks his nose for blood before walking to the free throw line. Again, context is key.

As a matter of fact, I recorded that game on VHS and re-winded that part many times because I liked seeing that emotion out of Jordan--it wasn't in his character. What was in his character was for him to completely take your soul after a dunk, and do what players today don't do, which is simply go back down the court.

Jordan didn't mimic many of the behaviors and expressions of today's players and NBA 2K movements. He didn't point at his biceps, pump the crowd up by raising his arms from his waist to above his head, hold up 3 fingers after hitting a 3, etc. Today's players act like they found the cure for cancer if they dunk on somebody....in the first round of the 1991 playoffs, Jordan did the famous baseline drive dunk on Patrick Ewing and well, just held up a fist.

Watching Jordan on YouTube is one thing, but the real thing was watching him on NBC on the weekend, TBS when they played the Hawks, TNT during the week, and as much as you could on my favorite, WGN.

Here’s a simple way to break it down:

Jordan expressed himself like a man in battle.

Modern players express themselves like children showing off for mommy.

The anachronistic inclusion of the flagrant foul rule in 1984 just bit me at the worst time humanly possible.

Game 7, ECSF, tie game, 17 seconds left, and then...

Two free throws and possession, game over.

I'm not even mad about it, I get how the game couldn't get over-the-top incredibly nuanced with 80's flagrant rules. And when you have Bill Laimbeer on your team, you're rolling the dice anyway.

It's just, I've put hours and hours into this '84 Pistons season and hadn't seen a single flagrant foul... until Game 7 with 17 seconds left.

So I edited just the court floors for the bulls and Knicks only. All was well, no issues ever the shadow glitch with jerseys etc. All of a sudden in a game I notice all the jerseys are screwed up and I lost all the banners on the court. I go and look and the game by itself turned my “floor only” edit into a complete edit of the arena itself! So now the game thinks I edited the entire arena. I have to start my entire MyNBA over again cause it’s unplayable looking like this. Anyone know what could’ve caused this? Any way to default back to the standard arena? It’s insane they don’t let us default to the standard arena

It makes me weary to edit the floor again as clearly the game can somehow randomly glitch and decide your floor is an entire arena edit and screw your whole save up.

Anyone have this happen to them?

If it’s impossible for the game to itself decide that the floor only edit would turn to a full arena edit, then the only way it could be user error I could think is maybe in a rush I was attempting to go to “edit floor” but instead went to “edit arena” and instead of backing out by selecting “don’t keep changes” I accidentally selected “keep changes” which automatically transferred my floor edit into an entire arena edit.

What a disaster. Can’t believe this is why I have to lose my MyNBA progresss. It’s insane they don’t give you an option to just revert back to the original arena. Unless there is hopefully a way.
