2k17 straight on HOF isn't basketball is most cases.

The lowest low lights of my 2k playing time came from 2k17 on HOF
    ... But hey VC sale!!

Easier to grind those badges..lol But seriously...i mean as online player strictly, hof is only good for one purpose....Grinding that Hustle rebounder Badge because your cpu teammates brick everything. Other than that..its pretty much pointless. The Opposing cpu makes everything, you brick everything regardless of how much you customize your jumpshot and how well you know the timing of said shot. It doesnt matter if you're on fire with your grand badge in mycareer. the likelihood of you being consistent on the higher difficulty levels drops significantly.

For you offline players, the more difficult the game is the more "SIM" it feels, am i right?

Re: Is 2k better on Hall of fame?

Gameplay: Offline NBA2k17 hall of fame default out of the box sliders, or whatever adjustments the developers did with the final patch. I don't particular care for "myself" modes.

Results: I have always played on either all-star or superstar for previous NBA2k iterations because I simply won't dare move up the ladder. This is the first year I decided to jump to HOF from the get go. During week 1 and by the second week, I actually beat HOF on default sliders. It still has its challenging moments, but hanging with HOF isn't difficult. Not exactly sure what that means. Can consistently beat hall of fame. Want a more challenging cpu ai from NBA2k18 and beyond. Doesn't mean I won't lose every now and then, but nothing on HOF really bugs me, except a few things I wish 2k would implement gameplay wise.

One thing I will say about 2K17 was that it was the most 'fair' HOF has ever been IMO.....I got a ton of good games on straight up HOF level....

any game before that was mostly Superstar

I tried but couldnt overcome the overpowered Cpu. It works for me through modified Hof sliders, and the gameplay was almost a beauty to play with.

But u play mostly against human (correct me if i'm wrong) .... so Hof default would be great bcos Ace is most effective and sim (Cpu teammates playing their tendency like timely cuts etc) in this mode.

Agree. Shot selection will be key coz the input window is shorter than other modes.

Go take a look at some of the slider sets the community has built. A bunch of good ones in there.

Far from it. Sim players want a realistic game of basketball, and HOF is far far from it.

It is not basketball, you are playing a game with that appears to be basketball, and has similar rules, but it is absolutely not.

You cannot play structured basketball, on offense or defense, you have to play a bastardized version of 2K that is taiilored to counteracting numerous cheaty tactics by the PC. It is not fun and not similar to the NBA game.

As someone earlier stated superstar mode with some adjustments is far and away the most 'realistic' method of playing the game. Take this from someone who has been playing 2k since it's inception and it's predecessor Inside Drive before that.

Re: Is 2k better on Hall of fame?

I used to think HOF was by far the best setting to play on.. but at some point it got to where I would miss layups that frankly NBA players shouldn't be missing at that rate, and the CPU would hit **** like every player was Steph Curry on a good night. Not sure which exact game it was where I switched back to trying to find a edited version of all star or super star, might have been when it switched to next gen.

I never found a good setting of sliders that I liked on 2k17. I just couldn't make it work for me. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to try it out. Hopefully on 2k18 I find something suitable to my needs.

Re: Is 2k better on Hall of fame?

HOF is too OP for the CPU. IMO it doesn't make the CPU play better - it just makes their shots go in much easier and yours much harder.

That's not really about skill - that's just a handicap. And that's not realistic or fair imo. The sliders should just be 50 for both sides but the CPU should play better defense and offense.

Typically I find success with All-Star.

Is the CPU on HOF really that much overpowered for 2k17? I love playing lock down defense, and seeing multiple 24 second cpu shot clock violations. The ability to have a real impact contesting shots, resulting in cpu brick city. The use of both on-ball and off-ball defense to anticipate off ball screens. Love guarding against the cpu attempt at setting the screen and roll and whatever offensive attacks the cpu throws at me. I love passing the ball around and making the cpu run around trying to defend my interior, midrange and 3 point shot. All of that without ever having to do any isolation plays whatsoever. Ball movements, and player movement, throwing various offensive plays and improvisations at the cpu.

HOF CPU I feel is too easy this year. I hope they ramp it up for NBA2k18. This is coming from someone who never really played on HOF much at all in previous 2k versions. And this is coming from someone who isn't that good at 2k basketball.

That's how I play as well when I play against other people online and I'm used to 20 digit leads. When I play hof, the cpu just gets away with so much stuff no matter how good you defend it. And my open shots like threes will miss no matter how close I am to the timing.

This question divides a lot of people for one very simple reason; we're talking at crossed purposes. Mycareer players (me) don't have the option or ability to tweak sliders like most of the guys commenting this thread.

Career HoF this year has been the most enjoyable version to play against, probably ever. It's been easy this year, with a lot CPU shooting percentages toned down significantly. I remember in 14, I lost a an overtime finals game because I missed one shot, and the CPU made every single shot in OT. That's the trade off when it comes to limitations of a video game. Personally I'm glad czar won the argument to tweak it to closer to superstar.

That said, I don't have a shooting archetype I used past the influx of shooting tweaks, as HoF Deadeye badges did absolutely nothing to negate the CPU late close outs resulting in D-F grades on a lot of open shots, so I remember that being rage inducing at times. I hope that can be tweaked this year.

In short, HoF isn't the really insane HoF anymore.

Yes I agree that hall of fame is the way to go.. I've tried superstar and way too easy.. Hall of fame is as the old Hall fame.. 2k17 did a wonderful job with this year Hof.. I have a slider set which is mixture of crews.. Essential.. And others that plays out perfectly on Hof using embracethepace roster.. I believe everyone will enjoy this set

Hate to be "that guy" but didn't that happen this year or last in a regular season game? And I mean you were in the Finals so was it really difficult enough? Not to say you should've lost but isn't that was makes it special when you win? And even so you "lost an OT Finals game", does that mean you WON the NBA Finals? Meaning you probably got the 1-3rd seed, won most of your playoff games AND won the NBA Finals... and "there was that one game you lost cause..." sounds like there was a lot of games you should've lost but didn't because it wasn't hard/sim enough.

NOT saying it "needs to be harder" but we aren't supposed to cruise our way to a title right? And, what year was it? 1st or 2nd? Overall? What else played into that?

Sorry for being the prick in the thread
