If anything they need to add more to it. More individual player highlights and either reference, or at least show, other stats and stories from around the league. I like it. But it feels like everything is happening in a vacuum. I'd like t see more elements from 2K14 halftime show incorporated.

Absolutely. Imagine having the current Shaq, Ernie, Kenny halftime show where they talk about the overall team play and team highlights, then one of them (or bring Damon Bruce back) that talks about the individual players or something. More immersion. Up the halftime experience.

Watch til the end of the halftime show for the nugget of him talking about the player of the week. Scores from around the league, upcoming scheduled games. But I do want a little bit more pulled back camera angle for the individual highlights, can't exactly tell how the play developed.

I know I already addressed both of these comments that were in response to my earlier post, but I wanted to address them one more time with good reason.

I decided to reinstall NBA2k14 (PS4) yesterday and give it a test run strictly because of the "2k17 substitution thread." I wanted to see a previous 2k timeout substitution menus. Decided what the heck, let's put on a game and honestly I was amazed by what I encountered. It actually killed several birds with one stone so to speak.

(1) Cheating, help, anticipatory defense was absolutely fantastic. This is probably why this was probably the most difficult challenge I've ever had in a 2k basketball game. And why 2k17 was the easiest ever on HOF.
(2) Layup rim physics was fantastic. Yes, the ball actually hits the rim on plenty of made and miss layups, lots of layups rim physic variety.
(3) The ability to blow by the defender without being "stuck" was fantastic. Even someone like me that wasn't skilled on the stick could blow by the defender without being stuck was fantastic.
(4) Ball physics, loose ball physics.
(5) The halftime show was fantastic, in game studio updates was fantastic. I still love the current halftime show in 2k17, but a lot of the 2k14 element needs to be brought back.
(6) Lighting was pretty phenomenal.

Most Important Part of this post: Cheating, Help, Anticipatory Defense
Look at the below NBA2k14 footage. Check out some of the animations, contextual animations, player awareness, floor awareness, anticipatory awareness. You don't have to "hug" your assigned man near the perimeter like they're doing in 2k17 (and possibly 2k18). You can still keep an arms reach with your man in 2k14, provide anticipatory help defense when it calls for it. Clamping down the paint.

First sequence: Look at how Curry is defending the 3 point shooter in the first sequence. Look at how Iggy is also defending the 3 point shooter in the first sequence. Both Curry and Iggy are also anticipating the post paint game.

Second sequence: Look at Curry and Klay cheating towards the post. Look at Iggy defending the perimeter shooter, and potentially anticipating the paint.

Bulls vs Pacers

Then there's some more sequence down below Bulls vs Pacers. Just check out the defenders on each sequence giving anticipatory cheat help defense, clamping down the paint. Protecting the paint, but still within arms reach of the perimeter. Still able to recover and guard the perimeter without having to "hug" the assignments. There's an isolation play where the defender still shrink the floor and anticipate clamping down the paint but still protecting the perimeter, there's a couple plays specific to the post (post play). Everything just feels and looks appropriate. It just looks so much more like what I would expect to see on TV.

I like the pre/half/post shows.

Gives me a little break if i want it to go grab another bourbon and I like seeing some of the highlights.

Or, if my drink is full, I can just skip through it.


However, I wouldn't be opposed if there was an option in the settings to turn off the pre/half/post game shows for those people that don't want them.

EA Live 18's halftime show is actually very good. The commentary could definitely use improvement in Live 18, but it has a lot of good stuff. I also like the camera angles use better than 2k14's individual player highlights. But I do like 2k17 and 2k16' pulled back highlight view to see the full plays develop but it wouldn't hurt to have it zoomed in just a small bit, and also have the ESPN camera highlights.

I kind of like Shaq and company focusing on one game as it adds a big tv presentation to it. For the rest I'm fine with 2K14 (score bug, wipes, everything) and Damon Bruce presentation. I loved how he highlighted individual players and noted what was going on around the league. That should be the default presentation package. I'd also love to see "Kenny Stamp of Approval" from 2K7 come back. I thought it was a cool little feature. Did we ever find out what with Sekou Smith, Rick Fox and Language Whitaker who had pics in 2K motion capture suits a few years ago?

I Can't be the only person that feels this way, but when you are playing 2K with the boys is there anything more infuriating than the long half time show/ interviews etc.. It really adds nothing to the experience when you are playing with friends. Do we think there will be a way to turn these cut scenes off this year?

The content was nice but the robotic commentary and abuse of crappy graphic swipes and sounds make it come off as half-assed.

But those graphic swipes and sound effects are actually authentic to ESPN broadcast.

Thing is on the actual ESPN stuff the volume of that stuff is a fraction of the commentators volume, it is background noise not the loudest thing you hear (other than the basket/net sounds which are also absurdly loud).

Don't even get me started on being able to hear shoes squeak but it sounds as though the game was being played in a sound studio. No crowd or any other sounds just shoes squeaking, rim and the net.

Doesn't bother me as much as the broadcast cut scenes during the game everybody skips through.

Don't even get me started on being able to hear shoes squeak but it sounds as though the game was being played in a sound studio. No crowd or any other sounds just shoes squeaking, rim and the net.

That stuff they can tweak, but the base foundatiin is absolutely solid. Just as with speakers, if you think the woofer is putting out too much bass, simply swap them out or use an external component to drop the bass.

If you think those effects makes their whole halftime presentation half assed, then there's really nothing more I can say. Audio, you can modify. But the content layout is much more important.

I'm glad they have it.

I'm not glad that it take 2 minutes to skip thru it if you don't wanna watch. Same goes for skipping thru timeouts. Takes way too long before it lets you skip back to the game.

I have kids, wife, and a dog - sure it’s nice but limited time means no pregame, halftime, quarter, or cutscenes. Let me play the game and move on.
