Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.

I pity the fools that buy "these special editions" of a game for twice the money.

Unless I get extra content (likes maps in fps, new cars in racing game, etc) then I aint spending more cash for useless stuff like shirts and socks.

Yeah This is why I just stick to Myleague. I'm not about to buy this game 4-5 times over trying to build a MyPlayer and compete in MyTeam. 2K comes out every year and VC doesn't carry over (Still got 150+ VC on 2K16 that's useless to me now).

It's not even just 2K, it's gaming in general. Look if they need to raise the games base price, then do that, but don't trick me into thinking i'm getting a full game when in reality i'm barely getting half of one. Gaming has become a dark place fellas.

At the same time, 2K doesn't seem to waste the revenue more VC brings in. They're always innovative, so we see things like an open world in a sports game. Any other sports game even close to that? So I don't mind payin a little extra when the amount of stuff in the game is big.
Totally agree with the first part of your post.

But I'm not totally on board with the second. Their servers have been absolutely atrocious every single year. They claim to have fixed the problem, but they say that every year...I'll believe it when I see it.

As for the open world thing...I don't think it's really that open world. We don't have that much world to travel and everybody is going to be doing the same few things that you can do in this "world". It's really just a face lift of the stuff that was already there last year, and in some cases, potentially more irritating to deal with. But we will see.

The game offers VC (the amount of VC you should earn is debatable) in most game modes so earning VC isn't hard. I earned over 300k VC playing proam last year being elite 4-5. That is a grind in itself but the game does allow you to earn it for those who do not wish to spend money.

they were the same costs as 2k17..

Did you work your player up from 55 OVR to his final rating without spending a single dollar on VC? A lot of the VC people have left over is after they've finished grinding players after dropping $$$, and a lot of that VC ends up being useless anyways, because they reach a point where grinding isn't necessary anymore, and they have nothing to spend VC on.

So if you grind everything without dropping real money, a lot of what you earn will be spent in game. If you were a grinder only, then yes your VC wealth will eventually accumulate over time. But some people would prefer to play online immediately, like you can in every other game without your player being totally worthless. But that puts us in a position of "Spend weeks grinding or drop money so I can play what I want". I totally agree that we should work for what we have, every game ought to be like that---but any system that forces the consumer to be in that position on day 1 is flawed to me.

Also, last year, you earned less playing Pro-AM than you did walk on. Makes NO sense to me. Should be the other way around.

I think real life $ has always gotten you the same amount of VC. But I'm fairly certain the price of leveling up players has gotten more expensive. We get the same amount of VC for the real dollars we spend, but the VC is really worth less.

I respectfully disagree on this part. MyGM alone I play every game (5 min quarter) for years. You get enough to buy teams. Teams! Plural. Lots of VCs lying around to spare.

I suggest everyone get a best buy gamers club. You get 20% off and a $10 reward. That's comes out to 79.99 + tax and after the coupon 69.99+ tax and use the other $25 on VC and still get all the other pre order bonuses

I respect your opinion as well. But what if I don't play MyGM and only want to play online Pro-AM/Park?

Then I don't have anything to spare.

Let's say I just want to grind and earn VC by playing offline Career, no Park/Pro-AM yet. What exactly can my 60 OVR guy do against HOF/Superstar AI competition? I am not going to enjoy playing the game just by standing around making minimal impact. But if I lower the difficulty, then the amount of VC I can earn in a game is ridiculously low.

You can earn bank if you play lots of walk ons. But who wants to play a bunch of walk on games with a crappy rated player just so you can build VC wealth? Most players in there already dropped $$$ and will get annoyed when they see an anchor on their team (Not the good kind) That isn't enjoyable for anyone in that scenario.

We can make a good amount of VC in MyGM mode ?
I'm remembering my old times playing nba 2k12 and lower, which in thoses times online didn't exist. I enjoyed a lot, more than now I think. I know a friend of mine who played the 82 games at 12 minutes each quarter lol in MyGM

Yes. Each game in MyGM that you play (not simulate) earns VC. I mentioned in another thread that instead of pre molded MyCareer, I can create my own character and play him in my own MyCareer -- in MyGM. So I can be spared of the Pres storylines and no more coach bro baker.

                          And still earn VC.

As long as videogames offer forms of microtransactions people are going to pay for the in game currency and content. You can't really blame any developers or publishers because it's easy profit for them. Likewise you can't tell people how to spend their money. I wouldn't pay for these types of things but I can't argue with people that do. It's their money and decision.

Plus 2k making more money should only lead to a better game, assuming a portion of the money is invested into the product. I have to imagine it is part of the reason they have been able to add so many legends and retired players to the game over the years.

When I first heard about the 150 dollar edition I was like Ohh ok, I may need to buy that. Then I thought about how I don't really play MyTeam so it would be a waste. Fortunately my gameshare partner on xbox is pre-ordering 2k so Im just gonna spend the 60 I was gonna use on the game on VC for myplayer.

                                $60 base version =5k VC

                                $100 legends edition = 100k total VC

$150 legends GOLD edition = 250k Total VC

Buying VC directly inside 2k game gets you more VC than if you spent the extra $40 for the legends edition or the extra $90 for the Legends Gold editions.

$40= 150k VC vs 100k VC in legends bonus

$90= 350k VC vs 250k vc in legends gold bonus.

I can not spell it out for you guys any more clearly than that...

if you do not care about the my team bonus...only the vc...you get more vc going this route!!
That may be true for some people, but for me i'm a Heat fan and want the Shaq Heat cover, the poster and cards, now I do want the 100 VC, plus I have GCU from Best buy and mine dropped to about $79, plus $15 in certs and $13 left on my GC ended up paying $55 even if I wanted the $150 version, that wouldnt have worked since its Gamestop exclusive.
