Kings . where my 2nd season I joined the Kings, our depth was horrible. Literally just bigs and Shumpert. This year is a little better. But I still want to improve depth.
I think our current coach from last season is a generated coach. I don't like the playbook. A slow, limited passing, mostly 3pt shooting, limited screens and pick and roll. So I'm trying to help construct team to fit that mold

5-0 in third season with the Kings. Instead of originally thinking I was 16-17 games away from next cap breaker. I am now 10 games away from next cap breaker. I'm at 41%. With Games and practices combined, I get about 6% each session. So I should get the 60% in the 10 games. I usually play on Hall of Fame Difficulty. But for the 90 Ovr grind, I bumped it down to Rookie. Honestly I don't even really play any better or get better stats besides more rebounds, but the 2000-4000XP more I get will make a difference in another game or two. Once I get to 90, I'll bring it back to HoF.
One of the main reasons, I chose to sign with Kings last year, was De'Aaron Fox. But, in the 30 games I played with him over the 2 years. He has been inconsistent. He takes too many contested shots, floaters, and Layup. Despite having 80 3pt, he only takes those shots if he recieves a wide open pass. And the playcalling doesn't help. But I believe his issue is he plays too many minutes. No backup PG 1st year and we have one this year but isn't in rotation. So he plays an average of 38-45 minutes a game. So me requesting a trade for a Backup PG, along with adjusting everyone's minutes, it should help

I had my first triple double with my center. I had over 20pts, 30 rebs, and 10 assists. I was so close to a quad-Double. I had 9 blocks. I wasn't set on it. I got my 9th block with 22 seconds left in a blowout. I quickly scored a fastbreak basket with 8 seconds. I wasn't sure if they would attempt a shot. But I still got on the ball handler. I jumped the gun a second early so they got the shot off but missed. But that game gave me a lot of XP. I'm 40.2% away. I can get that in 7 games. Maybe 6 and alot of halfcourt games.
Even though, I know which players I want to trade for and how I want to change up lineup. We are playing well(albeit playing on rookie for more XP). Rudy Gay has been in starting lineup last 3-4 games. He has average 15 points. He has been a consistent scorer. But when I make the trades. I don't know how might get traded because of it. Cook has untouchable role, so hopefully he is safe. But besides Fox Ibaka, everyone else in on the table. I wouldn't mind losing Rondo, Troy Daniels, Bogdanovic. That would be perfect scenario for us since I want a PG, SG, SF. I want to keep Cauley-Stein and Labrisse since I plan on putting Ibaka in starting lineup.
I'm 5 games away from next cap breaker or 4 if I have crazy stats. But it won't matter since I will get it all on same day off. Only issue that the primary player, I wanted to trade for is injured for 1-2 months. Not sure if I can trade for injured player. But either i will sim until he's healthy to trade for him or see if I can trade for him now and sim until hes healthy

Winning every game in Houston was boring so I got traded back to Cleveland and Shammy is still there. After winning two championships in Houston, I now get a cutscene after every game of the Cavs celebrating in the locker room with the trophy, even though they haven’t won it lol. We beat them last season in the finals.

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyCareer Thread

I was able to get to 90 overall finally. I adjusted the minutes, changed some of plays. But i didn't play because I wanted to make some trades. I made the trade suggestions with 2 months in advance. But after simming to ASW, only one trade went through. It was for Josh Richardson. But we still needed a backup PG and the primary player I wanted. So I simmed rest of season. I might sim whole playoffs too. But if we get to Finals by Simming, I'll play it.
Not a good free agent class coming up. I had no interest in signing a superstar any way. We're losing some players. Most of free agents are real life NBA rookies and 1st generated rookies. Including my favorite teammate Cook. The problem I will have requesting FAs is that most of them have Team Options. So most likely won't get them anyway. I don't expect to lose Cook. Even DeAaron Fox as well who has a team option. But I did request for Lonzo. Because he progressed so well. 88 3pt, 91 On Ball D, and Hall of Fame Dimer and Pick N Roll Maestro. Fox was the main reason I signed with Kings. But he hasn't really lived up to my expectations. Only thing he does well is his speed and defense. Takes too many contested shots/floaters. So I might even move him to Backup PG. I also requested for the primary player I wanted to trade for. He is a generated player with 90+ 3pt, 80+ On ball D, and 85 Speed. He could be either Starting SG or 6th man. But he also has a team option. Hield has been a disappointment. He played better on bench with less touches and when I played on Rookie to grind for 90 OVR. I also requested for another generated player with team option who was in the same class as Cook and other Generated player. He is a similar player as Cook. PF with 95 Mid Range, 80 3pt, 89 Speed, finishing ability. He just isnt as good of defender as Cook. Ibaka is a free agent. I would still move Cook to SF either way with his defense and athleticism.
I originally wanted to grind for 91 OVR so I can get Defensive Anchor. But if it will take me 2 cap breakers which will be able 35-40+ games, no thank you. I will just play to play.

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyCareer Thread

Simmed playoffs and lost in 2nd round. As expected since most of free agents had team options, so none of the players I suggested got signed. But team did make good depth signings. We signed Jae Crowder, Yogi Ferrel, and generated player Rush. By them doing that and me able to now adjust minutes, that solved issues from past 2 seasons. We now got a capable backup PG, 3 & D player with Crowder, and Rush is a SG/PG with 93 3pt and high speed. So at the start of 4th season, wasnt any clear needs for me to trade for. But I still wanted the generated player Meekens from last year with high shooting ratings, speed, and defense. I requested for him immediately and we traded him and Cauley-Stein for Josh Richardson(player that I wanted last year) and Dwight Howard. Didn't really have any other needs but tried to go for a generated rookie PG who was a late 2nd round pick but who was 84 OVR and high offensive ratings. But we didn't get him the 2 times I tried. But wasn't a big deal. I ended up simming a portion of early season due to waiting for trade request results and then Meekens got hurt for 2-3 weeks and when I simmed that span Ferrell was injured for 1-2 weeks.

I adjusted the rotations. I moved Cook to SF and Ibaka to starting PF as I wanted my 1st year with Kings. I moved Meekens to Starting SG since he was a 2 way player. Moved Hield to 6th man. I adjusted minutes so where I dropped my minutes from 39 to 33. I made minutes balanced amongst starters from 28-30 minutes. Cook at SF should be a mismatch with size and athleticism and keep his fouls down.
With that starting lineup, it gives us 5 guys with 80+ On Ball D. 4 guys with 82+ 3pt and three with 85+ 3pt. Very athletic starting 5. Bench scoring with Hield, Ferrel, and Rush. Wing defender off bench with Crowder. I adjusted the primary play calls for all the players in rotation. So we should run better plays that fit players strengths. My player is pretty much maxed out. I might try to go after Post badges. But I will focus on playing games solely

So, apparently, Isaiah Thomas is almost as annoying to guard (if your player is a PG) as Steph Curry. The guy never misses. I'm playing the Cavs in the Finals in my second season, and these are Thomas' averages through three games:

                  42.3 PPG, 57% FG (45/71), 56.8% 3P (21/37), 100% FT (16/16)

It feels like he never misses. I'm pretty sure he hasn't missed two three-pointers in a row, no matter how heavily I contest the second three-pointer after he missed his previous three-point attempt. It's really annoying.

I actually find shot first points on this game really easy to guard. Never leave them, work screens properly and harass them back. Sometimes the ones like Curry or Kyrie will hit an insane 28 foot shot, but playing against Curry is always easy for me. Whether that’s because I’m a 6’8 small forward playing point or not, I dunno. But I’d think it’s more difficult given the obvious speed disadvantage.

Height is everythingin this game. My 6'4 pg with 75 lateral quickness and 70 strength is a worse defender than my 6'7 SF with 65 lateral and 66strength.

                      Makes no sense.

I like the ability to adjust type of playcalls your player and teammates gets and rotation. But it gets frustrating having to constantly change it after every game or when you load into a different area. I can understand if there is an injury or a player is cold, but not every game. That isn't a big deal compared to playcalls because it'll only take a minute or two to change back. But you have to constantly change playcalls because it doesn't save them. No point of changing plays before you have a game loaded, because the playbook your adjusting is your favorite team's playbook not your current team. So you have to remember before you walk out of tunnel to change plays.
But it is a good feature. So many times I disliked playcalling. Where it didn't fit players strengths. Like for my center. Im not a post scoring but I only get post looks. So I can change that. Or you can have teammates who are 3pt shooters but never get those plays for them. So you can change that. Just wish it would save

With that said, I finally "figured out" how to defend Thomas. It may be a disaster again in game five of the series, but after he averaged the aforementioned numbers in games 1-3 (42 PPG on 57/57/100 shooting), I held him to just 21 points on 8/26 shooting and 5/15 from three.

We're up 3-1 in the series, now, so hopefully my "formula" for guarding IT from game four carries over to game five and we end the series.

Yeah, some of the reason I struggle so badly with PGs like Curry, Isaiah Thomas, and Kyrie is because I'm bad at navigating through screens and I gamble for steals a little too often. But I'm also a 6'3" PG so I don't really have the length to bother them on a regular basis.

I'm experiencing the dashboarding issue where I am getting kicked out of career games. I think it happened only a couple times before. But in last 4 games I tried to play with my center, i keep getting dashboarded. It is very frustrating. I grinded for a while to get to 90 and cannot even play a game.
I will try a game with my SF and see if it happens again.
Edit: it happened again, this time with my SF in the first quarter. So it is 5 straight games I haven't been able to finish. Only one made it to 2nd half once.
Hopefully they patch it soon. I really want to get through a few games with the team I helped construct and with adjusted plays. With Cook, Ibaka, and Me, its a defensive frontcourt that can put up 50-60 points a game. Heck are whole starting Lineup has 80+ on ball D. So besides elitle players/badges, the only points we give up consistently is open looks. The SG/SF Meekens that I wanted since last year and got is a two way player. I made sure to have alot of versatile wings, so when Ibaka is off the court, Cook moved back to his natural PF position and Meekens moves to SF. Fox has progressed to having a 88 3pt. But he didn't have a 3pt playcall. The only time he takes a 3pt shot is off a open look pass. But with me able to adjust playcalls, I made 3pt his 2nd priority call. Having Cook at SF at 6'11 275, he is a mismatch. His post ratings is in the low 80s and strength at 91. So I made his priority playcall Post up Low. With him matched up 6'6-6'8 SF with sub 70 strength, he can make a killing down low.
But I cant enjoy it if I can't get throuhh a game

This is why i can't play career:

Load on my point forward with hof dimer. Set the line up before the game, I'm in year 3 on the clippers. They have 2 young wings, both first round picks with 67-68 overalls but their jumpers are both in the 90. I have my own plays set for these players. I go through the first quarter on the warriors who still have the big 4 and koufos at center. I'm playing on SS.

1st quarter i got out running with Blake and deandre (made this guy before the trade) but I'm super close to hof lob city passer so i got like 6-7 assists of that and finish the quarter 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 11assists. Score: 39-35. Only up 4 points playing good defense with a damn near triple double in the 1st.

Start of the second they sit me for 7 minutes. But in those 7 minutes, in 2ks amazing simulation powers, decided my teammates were going to go 0-11 from the field. Score: 50-39.

I look at the stats like "wtf"? Decide I'm not playing the rest of this game after that.

My team wins after i sim out.

                              Game makes no sense.

I might be done with Career. I haven't played in almost a week because of others games. But when I tried again, I got dash boarded again. Whole first half, I was doubtful I would make it to half. Then once third quarter hit, I was certain it would happen but it didn't. Got simmed back in with 9 minutes left in 4th quarter. I played 2 minutes of that quarter and got dash boarded. So frustrating since it was a great team game. Cook was excellent as a SF with him being 6'11. He scored 22 points in 1st quarter and 8 3pters in 1st half on HoF difficulty. Finally had a bench that can contribute.
Its the six straight game I tried to play and wasn't able to complete. It happened with my SF as well, so it's not like I can just focus on that. Its frustrating because I devoted so much time to grinding to 90, asking for players, simming seasons, finally constructing the team how I want and what type of plays we run. Now, I can't even reap the rewards. Its no point of playing if I have to worry about game up and stopping.
