Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyCareer Thread

I tried NBA 2K18 the first time since October 2017. This is a game I pre-ordered (regrettably). With VC all over the place, I simply deleted the digital copy and went live across the street.

Anyway I tried to see with the latest patch if things have improved since. I wanted to create a new build and see how it is. But then, the cutscenes - I spent more than two hours just to create another player just because I need to see b fresh?

Why after all these patches we can’t skip the cutscenes and creating a new MyPlayer is such a chore?

In the 5 games I played since continuing my Center career, we are 5-0. Granted we didn't face a tough team, we played well. In last 5 games, we are 2nd in Points allowed, 1st in Opponent FG%, 3rd in team 3pt%(40%), 1st in FT%, and top 3 in 2nd Chance, Turnovers, Points off TO, Fouls. I'm really glad about the defense. Our starting lineup, all are athletic and have at least 80 On Ball D. So unless we are playing against stars, we shot down teams. Last game we held team to under 80 points playing on 12 minutes and HOF. We have averaged bottom 5 in Points, but shooting a high 3pt% negates that. We score mainly off of transition/FB, 3pt, or around the paint, so we are efficient scorers. Out of the 11 players that play, 9 of them have at least 75 3pt.

The roster and playbook I helped construct, really help us gel together on court. Having Cook at SF being 6'11 275, he is a mismatch. He doesn't get touches at PF. He doesn't average many points on sim stats. But he has averaged 22.4 points, 6.7 rebs, 1.6 blocks, 1 steal on 53% FG. He is lethal at 3pt line. But I noticed that he gets wide open 3pt looks a lot. He'll shoot 7-12 3pters and 80% of them, he has at least 5-8 feet of space. Fox has been playing better since I adjusted his plays. He now has Gold Ankle Breaker, but he never really uses them in ISO, he just tries to do a blow-by then take a contested shot. But now he takes more 3pt shots. He usually gets around 10-17 points. But in one of the games he went off for over 25. The key for him is to reduce the contested shots. The generated player Meekens hasn't played well. His problem is that he never gets plays called for him. He only get open looks. He only gets 5-9 shots a game. But he is still good in transition and his defense is good. Ibaka gets plays ran for him. The goal of having an athletic 3 & D team is complete. But I have to figured how to mesh in Hield in when he comes back from injury. He has been out since 1st game. I might put him as the 6th man.

Year 4, and I’m coming towards the end of the regular season after being traded back to Cleveland, away from my super team in Houston.

We’re top of the East by two games from Charlotte. The Rockets are 66-5 and beating them in the probable Finals matchup is going to be hard and will need top tier performances from everybody, every night.

I’ve tinkered with the team a bit to balance us out. LeBron at PG, Wells at SG, me at SF, Love at PF and Thompson at C. Andrew Harrison is 6th man and I also have Crowder and our backup C taking big minutes. I set LeBron’s primary role as P&R Point so he’s more inclined to pass out of pick and rolls and it’s paying dividends, with the big men being more involved in the offense. I moved Love in from 3 to mid range to get more use out of him, set Shammy to stick to the 3pt line and then myself as a cutter, to allow space for the bigs and shooters.

Since moving back to Cleveland I’ve had to take more responsibility scoring, so my numbers are back up into the 20s for points, and I’m rebounding more because I don’t have Cousins and Towns doing all the work. So for the season I’m averaging 22.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 10.3 assists. Decent numbers, although I did begin the season with Houston aiming to average 15 assists, I just found dominating to the extent we did boring.

Man I miss old MC. I only wanna play 5 min pro games. It seems like anything else is worthless. I don't wanna play 12 minute quarters of doing the same thing over and over again.

Remember coach objectives? Dude's like... get the lead under 10 in the next 5 minutes, and you're down by 25. Or he's like run the pick and roll... and you score 10 points in a row, but not with the pick and roll, and he rages out. I miss being pulled by the coach, and I miss the HoF multiplier because it made playing 10-12 minute games organically worth it. Even if it was harder to get badges.

Playing on pro sucks, but it's like man I'm gonna get 1kish VC anyway, might as well just speed through some 5 minute quarters and create a bunch of players... then get badges online.

I wish career didn't MAKE me score 30 every game to win regardless of who my teammates are. You can play against the warriors and they'll give you the business. Play on the warriors and curry will brick everything, klay would try dunking on everyone or something and KD would be an 18er.

I wanna be the 18er and feel like that's tough.

I remember 2k10 i got cut to the D league. I remember in 2k12 you could get benched if you got too many turn overs.

When career turned into how you grind for badges, that's when i gave up caring.

I'm at the Allstar weekend and the commentators have talked about me being invited to the Dunk Contest but now that I'm there it says I wasn't selected to be in the event

Watching my friend start a mycareer and 2k seriously?

Is he really forced to watch the disgusting cringe fest of bad acting with no skipping?

He changed his mind and decided he wanted to play later, went to quit and it said something like "quitting now will affwct the start of your career". What does that mean?
                  ... But hey VC sale!!
