I don't know how people can have this thought sometimes. Not only does the game play and look better, but the game is completely up to date.

Not a chance. 17 was WOAT.

Many other games out right now and coming soon. Common saying in 2k community is "so much potential, but falls short." This year especially. New movement is good, but in the end, it's not a good and balanced game. Not even close. Patching never helps either. 2k is spam and exploits and it always has been. Actually playing basketball and running an offense is not something 2k has ever rewarded and likely never will. It's just there for aesthetics.

Games other than basketball. Games that don't have dice roll and scripted mechanics. Include more depth than simply holding R2 press forward press square. boring.

I dont get why so many loved NBA2k11, if you were a Association guy, 11 was broken, and junk, with all its stat glitches.

NBA2k18, if they get MyLeague and MyGM fixed, is the best basketball game to date. Gameplay wise, 18 plays the more closely simulates the NBA right now better than any basketball game ever made.
Yeah, its not perfect, and what the OP describes definitely could be improved upon, and there are a couple other things, that could be made better, but overall, we havent ever seen as smooth of gameplay that closely resembles the NBA as 18 does.
My wife, thought the other night I was watching a game, and she said who is playing, and I said Im playing NBA2k18. Usually from 1 yr to the next, whether its NBA2k or MLBTS, she dont say that, as she always says looks the same as last yr, but this yr, she thought I was watching a real game, instead of playing NBA2k18

Didn’t read the whole thread but problem to me is not getting around an individual defender which to be honest is as easy as ever in real life. It’s that the help defense needs to be there to funnel the ball handler towards and also to take charges. Only one 2k (don’t remember which) punished people for driving recklessly but people complained about the number of charges and it was toned down and essentially neutered.

Any premier ball handler can get around the guy in front of them (assuming it’s not against kawhi) but they know the help defender will be ready and waiting to take a charge or stand their ground

When the game 1st came out, I wasnt seeing or getting any charges offline, I dont play online, but I dont know if they tweak something thru a roster update or not, but Im seeing charges now quite often, and its great to see.

Like the guy above you said, IRL its your help D as well as rim protection that keeps guys from scoring at will in the paint, as basically any descent ball handler that is even remotely quick can get by his defender in the NBA nowadays. So from that standpoint I think the game does a much better job of this yr, than ever before, some of the animations dont look all to good from that clipping standpoint, but the end result is much mroe realisitic than in previous games made. I think your help D could probably be improved upon by the devs, but overall, its by far the most realistic basketball game ever made from a gameplay standpoint.
The 1 thing Ive notice is once a player gets deep into the paint, around the restricted area, its like you lose strength, and the player with the ball just rubs off the defender, and you dont really see any hard contact, like IRL you see guys attempt to take a charge, and they dont get the call due to being in the restricted area. That wont happen in this game, and thats something I would like to see them improve upon.Hope that made sense

The cpu did this on me and thats when i realized this game has no structure, online never will, but offline should, and when kobe who is the cpu can do something like this to me, its over, not to mention the fact that the computer grab more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds almost every game.

Online is a very different experience, I do not expect it to be sim at all. This is why 2K must bring back the lobbies so they can cater to every fan.

I don't think the problem is necessarily the blow-by mechanics, but more so the fact that the cpu plays u super tight 90% of the time. if they were even just somewhat sagging off, it would be tougher to just blow by them every rip.
