Re: Yearly question of what difficulty you play on.

Playing on Superstar exclusively this year. Default sliders. Not changing sliders unless something drastic happens. No more flip flopping to All Star. Lol, I played on All Star once and I did worse and I am like, WTF? No, I have had a good time on Superstar but like you said the AI can do what it wants like always. Physics, logic, you name it, the AI can bypass it but with the user you get punished.

Played on All Star since 2K15 but I said if I got 2K18 this year I would start playing Superstar and not change back to All Star. I will try to keep my word.

P.S. I play offline. Only play quick Play Now games and MyLeague (usually do it in February-March). I don't do PNO except for 2K16. My Internet sucks here and the lag was bad when I had 115 mbps, so my Internet here lol no thanks.

Re: Yearly question of what difficulty you play on.

I hate playing offline, but this year i decided to play more offline games.

I've been playing on superstar and i think it plays pretty well. I do think that bad teams play better than they should. The Lakers and Nets are 2 teams I've played that i thought i was playing the Warriors and Cavs.

I dont know if it's an ACE or Coaching thing, but those 2 teams should be easy to beat especially with a better team.

I’m liking superstar, because it forces me to play smart, and it punishes laziness or mistakes. Gotta earn stops and high % shots; a reminder these are still NBA players after all. Went 4-0 against some lower-mid tier teams then got destroyed by GSW.

No need to go up. Everything plays perfect for me on Pro. Good teams beat the hell out of lesser teams. And its hard to beat stronger teams with lesser teams....its simple....and that's how I like it.

HOF with sliders for increased difficulty (offline). Gameplay will be just about perfect when ACE is updated. Might do some tendency updates as well.

I've been playing on Superstar since launch, honestly destroying every team except the warriors, those dudes are the ones that destroy me lol, lost by 39 the other day...

              And my rockets team is:
              CP3
              Harden
              Melo
              Bosh
              Capela
              Gordon
              Deron Williams
              etc

All-Star. MyCareer is feeling a bit too easy - I'm playing center and pretty dominant with only a 69 rating. Last year I had to bump it up to Superstar.

But in MyGM playing as the Lakers, All Star feels fantastic. I'm 5 wins 3 losses there. Last year I tried Superstar but I felt like I had to attack the basket all the time - really struggled making jump shots.

Yeah, I make defensive adjustments. Adjust matchups whenever needed. (Pro tip, put LeBron on the best opposing offensive player and he just destroys them [emoji23]) I dunno, I'm just usually a good defender in 2K for whatever reason (I'm really not good at dribble moves and passing haha) which I know is what most people struggle with. My recommendation if you struggle is to always play off ball defense. Let the AI handle the on ball. Control the center and just follow that guy around and go for boards. Seems like it's an easy way for players to get better at defense. As for offense, just follow the plays. They really do work.

No adjustments at all. Everything straight up default on Hall of Fame.

                    Side Remark:

I wish there was a "Get out of here, I got this" manual gameplay mechanic. Honestly, I wish there was an in game mechanic that allows one to press a button and tell my teammate "I got this, get out of here." Often times, I don't want to switch, I pick up a man and my (HOF) teammate simply is clueless that I'm already playing on ball defense. I actually thought their "I got ball" implementation would resolve this, but that I got ball thing is actually quite pointless to me. I should be in control of when I want to switch. And often times when the "I got ball" suggestion is hovering over the person I'm controlling, that blue arrow indicator is still pointing away and towards another person that I'm supposedly needing to pickup.

EDIT: Play on ball and off ball defense. Off-ball your own teammates to fight around screens the opposing CPU maybe doing to free up their shooters. To me, I actually had to play more off-ball defense last year. This year, my teammates does a better job to fight around screen, but sometimes I still had to jump into off-ball defense to help fight around screens with 2k18.

Just my own experience. Hall of Fame default slider, default settings, ACE ON. I personally find the Lakers and Nets could use a greater boost to their CPU AI intelligence on Hall of Fame. My first time playing against (video end of game stats below) the Nets using the Warriors and I felt the Nets were a bit too easy, they were hesitant to a certain extent. I simply kept drawing a few scatter 24 second shot clock violations and ultimately making them shoot last second contested shots.

I think it's just a matter of elevating ones game. Look at it this way. If you're having difficulties against the Nets or Lakers, consider them the baseline floor. It'll only help to elevate your own 2k game and stick skills. Think about all the fun challenges that you'd face ahead against much better teams when you do start dominating the Nets and Lakers.

I've played the last few 2k's on Hall of Fame with sliders adjusted in the CPU's favor, but so far I'm sticking with Superstar in 2k18 with barely any sliders touched and I'm getting some great games.

Give me a few months of practice and I'll probably up myself to Hall of Fame.

I have always played 2k on pro on all star in the past I had zero chance. This year thought I am thinking about going up to all star because pro fells easier then ever before. I have been playing with Armor sliders with a few adjustments and just about ever game CPU shoots below 40%. They like cant make open jump shoots on pro.

I'm playing on Hall of Fame this year. It provides a fun challenge and I don't feel like the CPU is cheap like it has been in the past.

I'm playing on Superstar right now and trying out almost every team against the CPU. I really want to dive into offline play this year after playing almost exclusively MyTeam in 2K17. So far Superstar has been fantastic. Every game is a challenge, and most are close, but not because of any type of noticeable rubber banding. This year's game is truly a challenge, and it's awesome. I feel accomplished when I win, and I don't feel cheated when I lose.

My only complaint is that on Superstar the CPU makes almost EVERY open 3, even with mediocre shooters. I don't give up many open ones, but if I do miss a rotation or overhelp, it's a guaranteed bucket.

Honestly, I feel there's no difference this year. Seems like difficulty doesn't matter for some reason. I still want to play on Superstar. I will never play on HOF (**** that ****). I cannot fathom playing on rookie or pro anymore like last gen. Feel guilty going down to All Star because I have no problem on Superstar. I've won every game so far but I will tell you this..

I changed how I played with 2K11. I was all about fastbreaks and dunking on people. I started to scrimmage more. I started using icon passing more and that play style of trying to have a dunk contest every game turned into 7 seconds or less/Spurs 2014 esque ball movement. A lot of extra passes, drive and kicks, passing out of the post, etc. Don't want to toot my horn but I was playing like the Warriors back in 2011 before it was a thing.

I started scrimmaging with the teams I like playing with in 2K18 like I did in 2K11 and 2K13. I feel this is the reason why I am so good so early this year. It's never happened this fast. I usually don't become "elite" until December. I'm blowing out the CPU by 30+ every game and the game isn't even 2 weeks old. If you would have told me I would blow the CPU out like this in 2K17 during its launch I would have called you crazy.

You should try it yourself. No penalty. You can learn a lot scrimmaging in 2KU. I hope this helps.
