Am I missing something here?? If a player runs into someone while dribbling, shouldn't that cause a steal???? Are did I read the post incorrectly?

That would normally be a blocking foul in real life. It's not football, you have to actually go for the ball.

Then the guard needs pass. If everyone is chasing the ball handler somebody is open somewhere. You say you do need to ball hog to get this, but it sounds like your guard isn't paying attention to the floor and isn't passing when a bad situation is incoming. That's not the game's fault.

For sure the guard or whoever it is that gets doubled needs to pass.
The problem is, online, the 4 guys that are "ball chasing" beat the passes to their target and that player gets bumped before or right as he catches the ball, resulting in a turnover or at best a bobbled pass and picking up the dribble.
Once the animation is complete the other 3 guys are there.

I've always thought the double team should sometimes result in contact or reaching fouls to keep it from getting spammed. That way there's some risk to the reward of potential steals and forcing the ball out of the hands of guys.

Anyone who's played 2K for awhile knows the very dark history of double-teaming. We don't want to reward spam.

The main problem, online, is that players are too fast and can turbo around the whole court beating passes to their target.
Stamina doesn't effect them nearly enough to deter them.
Offline you're not effected by 4 guys getting to you before the pass does so it's not an issue there.
If you've never experienced it, you think it's the guy complaining has low IQ, sucks, or is holding the ball too long.

Most "offline" assume anyone that plays online is a 12 year old park cheeser, making themselves looking ignorant.

Screw it, I'll bite: There's a difference here. You can come up with as many silly phrases as you want, but this game plays fine aside from the price gouging microtransactions. I'm not apologetic because when they need to be called out, I'll gladly do so. The problem is that a subset of people take issue with others having a different of opinion. Instead of constructing an argument, these people latch on to buzz phrases(in this instance, defenders) in the hopes that they can get a mob mentality going that will ignore common sense or actual discussion.

This is politics 101. This is how we have our current president. This is what you do in every thread you're in. It makes me wonder, is it worse to enjoy this game, or worse to be so mad others enjoy it that you have to stir trouble in every thread. I'll gladly debate any of these issues so far with you, like an adult. Judging from your history that won't happen, but offer is open.

What did you add to this thread? Nothing. You popped in to stir trouble. If you can't add actual discussion, then why post?

In that video and to me, the ball handler needs to lay off the turbo. Every possession doesn't need to be an attempt to drive past your defender. In one clip, the player actually ran into the defender.

Now, you're changing the narrative to half-court basketball. Personally, I think "ball chasing" in the half-court is suicidal, because you should be able to beat it with good ball movement. With that much chasing, someone should always be open for an open shot or easy layup/dunk.

We're going to need video.

EDIT: I play mainly PNO, walk-on ProAM, and Park with a 63 Overall center.
