Bro you can save all that. I already said I don't even look at the "meter". I just noted they could probably be more clear in their feedback.

    ---

I get where the simheads are pushing IRL percentages because I've been there with Madden. Just note, not everyone plays this game because they love NBA basketball and desperately want to replicate that.

I play the game to compete with my friends and I play to win. I don't really care what Steph Curry's percentage is. I don't even watch basketball.

In a couple of months people will have this game figured out to the bone, myself included, and I'm sure these perceptions will pass. That's been my experience the last three years anyway.
The fact your calling me bro this conversation ended for me LMAO.

Na but I'll take my help some where else lol. The fact your talking about frame skip..... WTF.... Lol

Yea man, I've said my piece. I'll try help someone else.

Re: Good Release vs Slightly Early/Late

look....i can agree that turning shot feed back off can make the game more enjoyable to play.....if you feel Comfortable turning it off.

i personally rely on it heavily. and turning it off doesn't change the fact that no matter if you are in park, pro am, practice, my career..or playing myleague... that if shot feedback says you have a good release and open, you will miss it more than if you are slightly late or early and lightly contested.

ill be playing and miss several wide open shots with good release and then make like 2 contested shots with poor releases, turning off shot feedback won't change the fact that right now, your player has a better chance of making it with a poor release vs good.

the other issue is taking contested shots vs open have a better chance of going in because if you are a shot creator...your contested shot rating vs open is HIGHER!!!

all of these things play a factor into how you must play the game to be successful. so you can turn of shot feedback and be carefree and still miss open shots at a 70% clip. or you can keep it on to at least try and green everything. or intentionally be slightly late or early

      just my 2 cents

Re: Good Release vs Slightly Early/Late

It's the same conversation I back out of all the time. My pro, my this and my that. I would especially think people would turn it off for that too. And people just practice their jumper until they have down pat. You only have to shoot with one person.

I can see why Mike Wang regards the shot meter. Users are obsessed with it. Because it's me, me, me. Threads like these gave him nightmares lol

Eh, whenever I see a ‘Good’ on the feedback, I just chalk it up as a miss 90% of the time. And I’m right much more often than not.

I dont understand that logic early/late releases should be considered as a bad and have really small chance of going in....

Definately seems a little silly to look at the meter in myplayer type modes when you are always using the same guy.

Honestle I believe its harder to look at and fill a bar than using muscle memory to time your jumper. Not only that but the jumper animation itself is basically a meter with visual cues.

In free throws good release has like 2% higher chance going in than slightly early/late attempts. I feel like it's pretty much the same in all shots.

Agreed and I'm definitely enjoying shooting more now that I've turned the meter and feeback off.

The point still remains though, that unless you get excellent, you have a worse chance of making your shot if you release at the top, which has always been the goal of jump shooting in video games, than if you do slightly before or after.

It just seems like good should be better than slightly early or late, whether you use the meter or not.

Edit: and to be clear, I think that was their intention when they made the game, and something is amiss.

I always thought Mike Wang reason for making the meter in the beginning was for users that we're either new to the game or you played with different teams to get their releases during the game instead of later.

But the flip side is this everyone running after the perfect release. It's like you said. After a few jumpers with a player in game. After the third shot. You probably already know the timing.

The worst part is users sitting here and trying to figure out the forumla for shooting so that they can get more green releases. Even though they have thinned the chances of a green. Users still want those green shots.

The funniest thing for me. I'd that shot meter was never in the game. For years, we didn't use meters. Shot meter is only 3-4 years old now. These threads suck the life out of the game lol

Think I just had a game where my meter was glitched. Wouldn’t green for nothing

Yeah. At the very least, I believe the shot success rates of good vs slightly early/late are much closer than folks want to believe. People see good pop up and want to believe it has a much higher reward than it truly has.

Greening a shot is the only truly rewarding action a user can make IMO. Everything else comes down to ratings and dice rolls. And that's why this is a sim game and not NBA Playgrounds.

It's easy to test in your court.
I shot 50 shots and 22 were "good" of those 22 only 6 were makes.
                            Overall I was 30 of 50.
"Good" releases ARE the least consistent release in the game.
                            Test it yourself!
