Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
Hello everyone. I've lurked on this thread for years but I never really post. Big fan of Player-Lock myself, or even Position-Settings, for those that choose to watch their teammates play while they are on the bench.
I too have been disappointed by the direction MyCareer has gone and much rather prefer the early MyCareer with the Combine, Summer League, try-outs, etc.
With this in mind, I have created a high school roster with authentic Indiana teams for those that like to establish a bit of history for their CAP prior to the NBA.
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...xperience.html
With this roster, you can play a senior year of high school, choose a college, then enter the draft.
If you use the Create-A-Player feature, you can simply update your progression from the previous year before copying your player into the NCAA or the Draft Class.
Just another option for those that love this mode like I do. There aren't as many options for us on the forum.

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
Well I decided to use an already existing player. I had some problems with not being subbed out properly, but now its working.
I'm rolling with Dennis Smith Jr. right now. Pretty fun player to use. We lost the first two games against the Hawks and the Kings. I played pretty well, though. Scoring 22 in both games along with 5 rebounds and 6 to 7 assists. Scoring in the paint feels a bit to easy, I have to hold myself back to keep it realistic. Running the Pick and Pop with Dirk is very fun.
Harrison Barnes is frustrating though. He takes a lot of bad shots from mid range.
I play on Superstar default. Anyone else has the feeling that player lock is easier than "normal" gameplay.Comment

I want to play as a center. How do you guys determine want attributes to start off with? I don't want to have horrible attributes but I also want to grind. And are badges earned after you progress?Yankees Lakers NY GiantsComment

For badges I figure to use an unlock system. So for Rim Protector to get Bronze you have to have a game with 3 or more blocks, Silver 5 blocks, Gold 7 and HOF 10 or so. Numbers are loosely based off real NBA historic games. I'm still working out the system for ankle breaker and tireless scorer as they can't be related to an stat. Brick Wall and Bruiser I figure should be related to strength and hustle stats? But hopefully this helps enough to get you started.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
So I probably ended up with an overly complex system, using the Archetype Data someone had put together for the 2k18 My Career caps. I have an excel spreadsheet that details the maximum ratings you can achieve as a certain playstyle IE a defensive/defensive center has a block rating of 99 as where a 3 point shooting/ 3 point shooting has a max rating of 78. I selected a play type for my created player, mine was a passing/ passing PG, and then subtracted 15 from all of the max ratings so he ended up as a 73 overall and fit perfectly in the middle of the players in the NCAA roster I am using.

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
I was playing on the Bucks as a center. I was up by 20 going into the half. Harden was a beast in the second half but we were able to hold them off. I swear player lock is the best way to play in my opinion.Attached FilesComment

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
I restarted a new season to get the updated rosters. I put myself in the 2019 Draft Class which had RJ Barrett, Zion Williamson and Bol Bol. Myplayer went 6th overall to the Lakers after the Celtics traded their pick for Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson. Paul George signed with the Lakers ironically last season, and traded Brook Lopez for Tristian Thompson. We have been struggling so far in the beginning of the season, now 11-12 after a loss to the Cavs. Still trying to figure it out.

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
I have been using MyLeague player lock for a long time now and have been using the same player since 2K12 (same stats copied from previous years). Always felt strange to me to move to successive games and have to rebuild the same rookie every time. It became even worse when 2K implemented these forced story lines. I said screw it and stuck with my same 6'7" 215 SG offensive powerhouse.
Been messing around with sliders through this season, few of my games posted below. I've had to buff the CPU big time (all shooting numbers, offensive awareness, on ball defense) in order to establish reasonable stats and have remotely competitive games. I think I've found a happy medium though. I leave ACE on and do not touch anything in game, if the coach fails to adjust then so be it. I also let the computer manage some GM type things (staff primarily).

I think I'm using 53/51 for inside,and 50/50 for all others,except 3's they're at 50/49,I'm using user timing.
Think the rebound settings are very tough to get right
Rebounding I'm at 40/40 offensive and 80/90 defensive.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 Official Player Lock Thread
My 1st post ever!
I love player lock on myleague. Best way to play. Need to control the lopsided trades tho which makes myleague even better. I player lock on other sports games but you can't control the stupid trades anymore i.e. the show.
I am currently rebuilding Sacramento. I created a SF (Alonzo Bishop) similar to Antetokounmpo with better outside shooting. Drafted my created player in the 2018 Draft 2nd overall behind Marvin Begley III.
Good young nucleus to build around with my created player becoming the superstar to hopefully overtake the warriors.
This team is one of the most exciting fun teams I have built in a while. I love the underdog and rebuild of bad teams.
Currently 2-1 In 2018. Got a triple double in my debut. Fox and Giles are developing nicely but need more development to beat the good teams in the west.
What draft classes does everyone like to use?
I'm thinking about using F.D.U. when they come out this month.
Any other tips for player lock myleague is much appreciated.Comment
