Re: Mike Wang has another poll on Twitter.....
im with u. I think offline, players with a high contested shot rating aren't getting enough buckets. it makes using players like kobe and mj pretty lame.Am I the only person who doesn’t think contested shots are going in too much?? I see maybe two or three well contested shots go in per game on average which is honestly realistic. I think the a lot of people don’t actually know what an open shot is. I would’ve voted no for this.

This x1000. If they wanna screw up park, fine. But Pro-am is "supposed" to be Sim and is the esports mode.

Should heavily contested shots be nerfed?
— Mike Wang (@Beluba) October 21, 2017

First of all, why is this even a question? The fact that 2K actually goes on Twitter to ask this question is proof that this game is no longer headed in the direction most of us loved back in the day.
2K is no longer an NBA sim. It's clear their goal is to please the casuals and pull in as much VC as possible. It's very sad.
Secondly, WHY IS HE TAKING FEEDBACK FROM TWITTER????? That is the absolute WORST place to get any sensible feedback because most ppl on Twitter just want the game as easy as possible and aren't rational at all.
I guess it stems from my first point that they are no longer a SIM game and that's why they take this kind of feedback.
Anyway, go vote. Maybe Live can step in and fill the SIM void over the next few years.
Stop asking for the community for feedback on how to play basketball. Ask BASKETBALL LOGIC for feedback, and people WILL adapt. In what universe that basketball is played in, should a HEAVILY contested shot be rewarded? Maybe NBA Jam. Or NBA Live. Gee, what happened to the other game when they made the decision to appease casuals over realism? Learn from history...Comment

Re: Mike Wang has another poll on Twitter.....
Acting likeBasically asking the twitter is good marketing.
They already know the result of the poll, as you do. They are not dumb!
They just want to show that they"hear the community" and they are justifying their actions
If Czar would do a twitter poll about 5 out, it would never be removed
1) Twitter should decide the outcome
2) Having a debate via a question over an OBVIOUS answer, makes 2K basketball IQ seem amateurish like an arcade game rather than Sim.
That's bad marketing. Sim sells.Comment

Re: Mike Wang has another poll on Twitter.....
2K will become the next EA if they forget their roots. NBA Live used to be the #1 selling basketball game back in the day. Then fans and companies realized that gamers like mimicking the real thing -- especially gameplay. They like 'heavily contested shots' mirror the real life result and being rewarded for their defense. If people wanted NBA Jam 2K18, they'd buy NBA Jam.Comment

This shouldn't be a question though a pure sharp is rarely shooting heavily contested shots since he's running around double screens at the top.#WashedGamerComment

Re: Mike Wang has another poll on Twitter.....
I think 2K needs to redefine what's the game feels like a contested shot is. Standing 6 feet away with you hand up shouldn't be a "Light contest". It's an open shot. This is the reason the pull up game is so jacked up. The spacing for open and contested isn't realistic at all.Comment

I think they do this because it's how analytics classify contested shots. I don't remember the exact distances but it's like 0-1 feet is heavily contested, 2-3 moderately contested, etc. Idk about 6 feet tho.
My biggest complaint is that the contest even affects you if they are behind you. Am I really going to be affected by a defender that I can't see?

Re: Mike Wang has another poll on Twitter.....
Quite honestly, you need to fix the Contested Long Range Drill (during Practice) that allows us to work on the Deep Range Deadeye Badge.I was watching a Twitch streamer last night and the subject of contested shots came up in the chat. He asked me to put up the poll so we could see what the general consensus of the Park community was. Don't worry, regardless of the poll results, I'm not planning on making any major changes to shooting. If I tweak anything, it will be subtle... and will only be applied to Park (maybe Pro Am.)
If anything needs to be NERFED... this Drill needs to be nerfed.
Out of every badge drill in the game... this one is the absolute worst in terms of mechanics. It is completely unbalanced because of the way the passes are distributed.
In Broadcast view, there are 3 shooting hotspots on the floor:- Top of the Arc
- Middle of the Arc
- Bottom of the Arc
Because your CPU teammate keeps his back to the Bottom of the Arc... he does not pass the ball to you the same way (or at the same speed) as you approach each 'shooting marker' on the floor.
Passes thrown to the top of the arc will ALWAYS arrive in time for you to take a good shot, that is on balance.
Passes thrown to the middle of the arc and the bottom of the arc will ALWAYS arrive LATE AS HECK.... because the CPU passer has to turn his whole body in order to make the pass.... which wastes valuable split seconds.... and arrives late, like 5 steps too late.
As a result, you will OVERRUN 2 of the 3 hotspots more often than not.... and take bad running shots, or very balanced shots that 'do not count' because you are too far past the target when you pull up.
So THIS whole drill is misleading.
Its not about taking 'contested shots' as much as it is about... fighting the controller to avoid overshooting the target on 2 out of 3 hotspots.... then fighting the controller AGAIN to put up a decent shot that doesn't get blocked.
To be honest, the passes should come from the 2 coaches/rebounders who are standing on the baseline (under the basket). So that each hotspot position is allowed the SAME amount of 'reaction time'.
Otherwise you force players to practice taking 'good shots' from one single spot that feels most comfortable. But that spot should not be the very same for everyone.
(And while I am talking about the subject of nerfing drills... please nerf the bench press & leg press drills in the Gatorade Gym. That whole 'balancing the ball' mini-game mechanic while lifting weights is utterly useless. Its bad enough we have to do like 50 million repetitions... but adding that little extra mini-game of balancing a ball on a stick while doing it... is highly annoying. And very aggravating.)
Just my $02 cents.Last edited by Roger_Black; 10-23-2017, 09:47 PM.Comment

We narrowed down why Pro Am Team feels different (fewer greens & lower %s) after the last patch and are working on a fix. I don't get this. I really don't. Pro Am right now is basically park with 4 quarters. Teams barely miss layups or shots. At the same time people would rather shoot a 3 then layup in this game. Why make the game easier. There is hardly any pick your poison on Archetypes. The days of sim gameplay sliders seem to be done. Everything has to appeal to the lowest common denominator.PSN: UVE_HAD_ENOUGHComment
