Okay, now at home I watched the video. For anyone else tired of watching 13 min videos, here is what Sam Pham says as text:
Push right stick towards the driving player while pressing turbo and push the left stick towards to where you want to cut the driving player off. That's all. No need to waste 13 mins watching a video^^Comment

Sam while I can confirm that this is really effective in PNO, it doesn't seem to work that well in My Team. Which sucks because thats the main mode i play.
I'm sure it's because of the low difficulty and slider settings but can you test this in My Team Online and see what results you get?Lineup:

A lot of folks are saying they have already been doing this and it's amusing. 😀
It wasn't too long ago (2k16) where you were able to use the right stick to slide into defensive positions and cut off or force offensive angles.
In 2k16 this same ride the hip animation led to a lot of outcomes that people would consider canned. You could simply hold x (xbox) and either trigger a dunk or a layup that was very hard to dissuade from going thru. It was very often the long stride layup that came out and you could pretty much anticipate with absolute certainty that it would drop regardless or ratings against rating or size differences.
Earlier I asked about what your opinion is of the defensive animation. In my own opinion, I prefer the 2k16 battle albeit that series also needed more variety and propensity for fails against contact when the ball was ready to leave the driving player's hand.
The 2k16 animation was clean and more fundamental but the kung-fu stance with the hand up as if to deliver a chip really gets me lol

Re: I Found FIX + COUNTER vs Hip Riding Animation: OS PLEASE test this for me !
Has anyone had success using this technique in Pro Am?
Because most of the time when I press up or down to put my hands up with the right joystick and someone drives into me I lose the contact animation and get blown by. I play with my right joystick on absolute direction, if that matters. On that setting, I've noticed that whatever direction I press the joystick (up, down, left, or right), it just seems to increase my chances of getting blown by on drives, not decrease the chances.
I feel like I do a better job of containing drives in Pro Am just by taking a good angle and using the left trigger to cut off the driver and bump them.
And this is with me mostly playing on a 6'8" 240 pound small forward who has a 77 strength rating and the silver bruiser badge.
I'm taller, heavier, stronger, and have better badges for man-to-man contact than most of my matchups at the small forward position, yet shorter, lighter, weaker sharpshooters/playmakers/shot creators/slashers who have no bruiser badge routinely blow by my guy on drives when I use the right joystick to put my hands up.Last edited by jyoung; 10-30-2017, 10:56 PM.Comment

Some good defensive animations to stop dribble penetration. Most of them didnt involve turbo. Just the left and right stick.Psn: Alabamarob

On the other side of the things there should be more fouls fouls fouls and and there should be more interaction animations played out properly when this is being done.
It's a great defense and also stands for kinda like real basketball, arms are involved to stop the drive as they are involved in real life nba basketball so, great logic behind and some very very good advanced defending that really seperates good/bad skill of players. Good job to 2k first and hopefully they keep evolve on this onwards with new iterations...Comment

So has anyone gotten these cutoff animations to work in Pro Am?
From what I've read in this thread, the modes with the real NBA teams (Play Now, MyLeague, MyGM) seem to be the only ones where these cutoff animations are present?Comment

This actually worked for me in MyTeam.
It was literally my first online game though.... basically a bunch of silver players....so that may be the difference...

The stronger the players the less reliable on lower difficulties, but it still holds fine for me even in the park. I have a part two of this coming up sometimes this week, watch that one and it should help you even more. This vid was more of an introduction to this technique. The more advance tutorial I have coming up is kinda like a combination of when to use RS,LS,and turbo. You can actually use them altogether, as duals, or independently. Is like combos of all three things can be created to counter MOST if not ALL offensive movements/animations with timing and correct positioning.Comment
