I don't make snap judgements about buying/not buying a game when I know literally nothing about it, but I wasn't planning on spending $100 for this game no matter when the early release was. I don't play MyTeam, and hardly ever use VC due to being an almost exclusive MyLeague guy. I think I have a few hundred thousand just sitting in my account in 2k18, actually.



Spiderman comes out on September 7th as well, plus I'm an EA Access member on XBox so I can mess around with that other game for a few days for free if I get the basketball itch, so those two things coupled with the $100 vs $60 choice, my decision was made pretty easily.



If 2k wants to allow you to play a few days "early" for a higher price, they can do that. None of you are being forced to buy that edition, no matter how you perceive it.

Spider man comes out on the 7th as well? Lol guess I can forget about the extra bucks I'm going to use on VC and get that instead.

Isn't 2k notorious for having broken servers on release day?

The people who buy it early may not even have a fully functional game those first 1 or 2 days

non issue. never been that big a deal to play "early." I'm strictly offline myleague guy so I could not care less about VC and Myteam stuff. 59.99 it is for the regular addition and hoping (but not optimistic) that they have worked on the transition game, continued to improve D and screening (I thought they improved on 2k18) and ratings/regression/progression/roster stuff.

Last year I got 2K18 for pc for like $42 at early launch. I actually missed out on better deals. I will likely try to find similar deals on pc this year and enjoy the game early again.

I will be satisfied no matter how the game turns out if I get it for under $40 on day 1 and I am able to mod day 1 like last year.

Also Ultimate Base Roster for 2K14 PC is getting the 2018 roster update today, so I'm good no matter what happens

It should be an easy skip for most offline players, IMO, but I think that a large percentage of their customer base is so addicted to H2H play and/or the accompanying grind to max ratings and badges that a sizable percentage will not be able to resist ponying up the money for this version. They will be cussing 2K out, but will still pay up anyway.

This is truly the way to go even though I don't have the patience to do it but I would never pay 100 for a video game, hell games these days make me feel like I am getting ripped off paying the regular price.

On PC by looking carefully you are usually able to get the New game for something around 30€

edit: On cdkeys.com you can already preorder it for 31.89€. I expect it to go down a bit until Release.

It’s unfortunate that you can’t play early this year without paying crazy money. But as others have said, if people keep paying then they’ll keep doing it.

I went for Live 19 instead this year. Pre-ordered through the latest Live 18 game update and got the discount. Makes it less than half the price of this 2K19 special edition and I can play it on the same day.

It's really not a big deal for $/hr of entertainment. Also, video games have been $60 since what seems like forever even with inflation. **** I think I bought Ken Griffey Jr. Presents MLB for 59.99 in 1994; which in today's money would be $103.

And yet the video game market is larger than ever, almost like other things are at play that keep the price the same.

2K took a chance by changing the early play to the more expensive edition and their has been a pretty negligible amount of push back from fans, so it is hard to fault them.
