Sounds like Czar and OG spent a significant amount of time on the defensive end for 2K19. Hopefully, the AI was improved in these areas.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I agree. The two fundamental offensive weapons that are not effective at all in NBA 2K18 are the jab step and pump fake. AI defenders do not react to either action, and both are vitally important to creating space and being effective on offense.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I’m not a fan of the on screen displays for immersion reasons and usually I turn those off minus the shot feedback. But I agree with you it should be an option to turn on or off. Especially for guys who are using ACE to know what changes were made through ACE. There are definitely times they changed something and I’d give up a wide open lane, 3, or screw up my pnr coverage not knowing what we were in or that a change was made. Then I’d have to call my own adjustment to make sure I knew... you could do the way you showed in video or possibly another alternative way but regardless of how it should be an option somewhere...Last edited by vannwolfhawk; 07-25-2018, 03:29 PM.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
As far as the jab step goes its only actual use is the "double jab" that helps you explode out of a standstill and beat your dribbler or a jab-spin to try and create an angle (its a very very rarely used NBA move though and its animation is wack). A single jabstep doesnt do anything most of the time and if you dont chain it, dont bother.
The double jab is actually my go to move this year because it lets me bypass the lack of fluidity in 2k's dribbling system, leads to more "proper/realistic" blow bys, and lets me take advantage of athleticism much more frequently.
You can see myers leonard working on the double jab that you should be using in 2k here

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
That is a lot of fluent movement your willing to give up. A lot of play stuff we are doing now just isn't possible on that old engine. This is the issue with making games that kicks you in the stones. There is no silver bullet. We may be able to bring it back around but it will take some time to keep the fluency of motion while also giving the players weight.
To reduce sliding what you're saying is you are willing to give up the ability to have your player be as responsive. All that foot-planting means your throwing your stick and he is not moving, He is playing a weighted cut. Not everyone is a fan of that even though it looks good it doesn't always feel good.
Please note these are my personal opinions on the subject and in no way represents 2k's train of thought on this. If you go back through the forums when those games were out one of the big complaints was about our motion. Yall were steady upset with how long it took actions to develop. Well, we fixed some of that but it came at a cost.
So it is a balancing act between user control and foot planting or weight based movement. The best selling basketball games have always had some sliding because they have the smoothest animations.
Personally, I wouldn't trade the offensive fluency of movement we have now solely for better foot planting.Comment

Originally posted by qjrchris2The jab step may not be as frequently used nowadays but it should still be in the game and animated properly to create space. That isn't the case in 2k18. Defenders don't react to it at all. When using the 90's bulls in the game I would love to be able to do this with Mike. He used this move quite often to get the defender off balance and it was effective.

Would be amazing if we could use jabs like this....Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I’ve been discussing this in the post thread as well, but here are some more examples of the jab step and creating space in the face up post game in what we should be able to do in it. Defenders do not react to it at all in 18. Put a couple perimeter examples at the end. How do I embed videos and spoiler like above?
Joe Johnson - great examples
Zbo face up, jab, fade shot
Amare - jab and defender reaction
A. Davis
Melo 2:13 & 3:00 marks in video
Another quick melo example
Al Horford

Here are examples of the jab on the perimeter...
Kobe - he uses small jabs

on the youtube video page click share then embed.
One day hopefully defenders will react to jab steps and we can properly play out of the triple threat.Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
would love to see the jab's effectiveness boosted vs the cpu as well. the jumpshot game really hurt in 2k18 because of the constant smothering defense.Last edited by jclazaris84; 07-26-2018, 06:38 PM.Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
I play other users 95% of the time and the jab steps work good. Because humans are going to react to jab steps but because they are scared to death to get scared on haha. Only time it doesn’t work is when they are close doing that crowd dribbler animation.
Anybody on Xbox still playing this game?
Been trying to get some games on invite Xbox I’m stuck playing the same 3 people. PSN is more active and easier for me to get games over there.

The triple threat works for me vs the cpu. If they dont bite i just use it and explode out of it for a drive. Especially off of a post up.Last edited by alabamarob; 07-27-2018, 08:51 AM.Psn: Alabamarob
