I don't know what it is, but a lot of old users on here tend to defend the game way too much. Any criticism is shot down immediately. Year after year people get fooled into pre-ordering, just don't do it. Wait and see how the rest of the game is before deciding.
I for one am highly critical in voicing my opinion on things I think can be added, things that need looking into, areas I think they can improve, etc... BUT, when props are due you give it, and props are most definitely due in this scenario and from this blog alone! That being said 2K has earned our trust IMO and is always adding on multiple areas of the game. If you compare other AAA titles that didn't even add in all modes what 2K just added in 1 area of their game. LOL! I can't wait for DaCzar & OG's gameplay & AI blogs now, but I know with 1000% certainty I will probably have the same feeling I had in reading this blog and not be left disappointed. I get what you are saying in wait and see to hear all the news before making a buying decision, but for me and with 2K's track record I'm buying regardless to support the devs, the game, and the dedication they show in a yearly cycle year in and year out! It's incredible how much they add in that time. I have always been a guy who would want 100 things done every year that are new that can be built on in the future as opposed to adding just 3-5 things that were fully fleshed out and never touched on for another 4-5 years. Add to all that, this is an area a lot of gamers care about and where they spend maybe 100% of their time. If this is your thing and where you will be 99% of the time this is absolutely a pre order from reading this blog.

    But, to each their own...

I'll likely wait a week or two to see how these new features work and probably give time for the first patch or two to fix some things if need be. If all's good though I'll definitely be buying not too long after launch. Definitely looking forward to what looks like to be a well-worthy experience.

No, that's the wisest choice and one I'm doing as well. All the props and compliments to the MyLeague team this year (and virtually every year since 2K16 on), but I remember launch last year and BOY was it rough.

MyLeague wasn't really ready to go until about a month after the game came out, and even then there were lingering issues that didn't get solved.

We need gameplay to be revealed, then we need it tested by people who know it (SamPham), and then we need to see how MyLeague actually plays. All the features they added are amazing on paper, but every new thing added to something like this has a chance to throw off something else; there's lot of complex code involved here.

I'm on the "Wait and See" approach. Frankly, this fall is just loaded with games that deserve attention so I'm punting on an early order and we'll see where the game stands in November, when the first set of (inevitable) patches hit.

But that does nothing to take away from the effort put into it. I'm passing on a preorder not as a form of protest, I'm just not convinced after the miserable experience last year and after being an early adopter the last three years ... I need a damned break, lol. 2K18 is still doing fine for me in MyLeague.

I've found some fantastic things in that blog, mentorship seems really fun and interesting, probably the thing I found the best there, also it seems to me that they are not using those in action whole body pics that they've been using for the last couple of years but they are using photos from chest to above, I really hate these portraits they've been using, I also hope these pics don't become generic if you trade players.

But I agree with peacemanNOT that the gameplay is the most important thing and MyLeague just doesn't work for me if I find the gameplay lacking.
Regarding the blogs, I was so hyped after Scotts blog last year where he was talking about how the defense is improved and smart and sophisticated just to be disappointed later and at the end it made the game too easy for me. I knew that If I needed a win I could just play that game instead of simulating it and most of the times I'd win even if I was facing a superior team.

This blog was great, but I think everybody who isn't sure if he/she should buy the game should wait for the demo.

That Live Free Agency period for MLO sounds like a blast man. I can't imagine you and 3 other GM's all vying for Lebron to come play for you... seeing those offers come in and experiencing the virtual heartache over him not signing haha.

Exactly my thoughts but I think you were able to put it into better words. Just because I'm not pre-ordering doesn't mean I don't appreciate the effort 2k put in. All of this stuff sounds amazing and I absolutely appreciate it as an almost exclusively offline MyLeague guy. I just want to be able to head into it without having to restart because of something not working properly. I had to restart my MyLeague a few times last year in the first month because of cloning players and it was definitely aggravating. The feature of drafting foreign players that play overseas a few more years was definitely worth some of the aggravation though. I used it a couple times and it definitely paid off into helping to build my team.

I get it... Whats crazy though is I didn't get the experience a lot of others did with gameplay. When you really dive into the sliders for gameplay or with coaching adjustments for the CPU in my league I guarantee you a lot of complaints can be fixed. Things like help defense, playbooks, etc. I had the best CPU playing games I have ever had in a 2K game that felt like I was playing another USER. I didn't have blow by issues with sliders and if it did happen the team help defense slider (which you could only adjust in my league) provided a completely different experience as opposed to not editing it. I'd run into a shot blocking big and very rarely have a open lane or wide open roll man on the PNR. But in fairness it was heavily edited. The great part with 2K is the customization they give us not just in my league but in all areas of the game through sliders. It is really unprecedented territory as deep as they go to give us those tools. Other games don't have 5% of the sliders 2K give us to customize our experience. I just think most people don't go down that path which is why I see the differences in opinions that vary imo. But again to each their own. I will be diving in on September 7th, but I DO understand the skepticism you refer to in waiting. I might be in minority (actually I know I am) but I rarely play the game for the 1st month or 2 anyways as I'm tweaking things so I guess by the time I really start playing (when playbooks are tested & done for every team as well as finding a good slider set for myself) then some areas are already fixed through a patch...

Oh yes, I'm doing a complete rebuild of the Suns this time around and am using that feature, as I imagine they intended it -- when I started my ML last October, that feature was still wonky (I recently concluded that a month ago), so this version of ML plays like a whole new one to me! So many things that are working as I expected day 1 with 2K18.

I hope against hope we don't have a lot of that this time around -- I know they'll likely be some minor bugs and glitches, as there always are, but I really want people to get a great day 1 experience, just so the narrative of "2K suks game is sameaz last yr! Roster updtae trash!" can be firmly put to bed.

2K is the standard for sports gaming -- yes, even over MLB the Show, whose recent iterations have been more stagnant, IMO. Everyone is at least two years behind them and that standard of excellence should be recognized, not compared to EA who's just FINALLY starting to understand that franchise players are still important after spending the near-last decade kicking them in the nether-regions.

Basically, now all I'm going to have to do is copy an NBA players DNA, update their appearance and vitals, then tweak a few things to make them a little different than the NBA player.

Create a player in Mylegaue and let CPU handle everything and player lock on your created player. If your on PC u can even copy your mycareer roster into mylegaue and keep your personal cyberface. Its honestly the best way to play a real "career mode" without all the story crap.

Yeah man, If gameplay is going to back up all of this and If I find it awesome 2k19 is going to be such a blast. Just when I think of what could community do with all these possibilities, draft classes, sliders and everything. Come on guys from 2k tell me defense is hugely improved
