why are there a lot of players who prefer 2k16's "gameplay"?

i know spike lee's storyline was terrible, but it has the best gameplay? even 2k18's realistic gameplay changes?

can you guys explain this to me. i just got back into 2k and have money to spend so i already got 18 for 360 and pc. im trying to find a 2k with realistic gameplay. i like how in 18 u cant just pass the ball inside w/o it getting stolen, or just dribble forward. you have to actually play the game, or i think so. like is aid i havent played much.

btw im gonna be playing a lot of association mode. i dont care much for the gameplay of other modes as long as its fun.

Re: why are there a lot of players who prefer 2k16's "gameplay"?

I prefer 16 to 18 gameplay wise, visually though I like 18 better idk the colours just pop more on my tv though.

As far as passing the ball inside being harder, I'm not sure if its done to your liking.

For me when I make a good pass to a cutter with a good passer I don't aplreciate him just dropping the ball and watching it go out of bounds simply because someone is behind him.

On the other hand people that use to 5 out and pass to cutters all game have to find a diff gameplan.

16s dribbling , post, and defensive to me feel better than 18.

Its entirely too easy to blowby people in 2k18 its almost automatic against CPU, post shots against cpu are decent I guess against users all they have to do is sprint into your chest and its heavoly contested.

If you're a my league player that uses historic rosters know that you can not edit the ages of players on historic teams in 2k16, you can in 18.

If you're going off gameplay only I think 16 is better and I am very picky and critical, could be a good or bad thing
    ... But hey VC sale!!

i wanna do a fantasy association mode mainly. i'll deal with the rosters and i dont care for the gameplay in mycareer just that its fun. and yeah i want realistic gameplay. defense is huge. i dont like cheesing into my defender. you say dribbing, post and defense are the best in 16? that makes it perfect then.

From a Park/PRO-AM perspective pre patch 6 2k16 was far better than 17 and 18.

The feel and animations of 2k16 is why I still play it the crazy thing is I didn't really appreciate what 2k16 was until I played 2k17 and now 2k18, Idk what it is but the feel of the movement just felt tighter in 2k16 compared to now, now I don't feel as in control of what I want the player to do way to many in-between automated animation in 2k18 for my taste maybe 2k16 kept things simple like I like it.

16 is the GOAT of current gen by far. Hated both 17 & 18 - took them both back after a day or so.

I personally love 2k16, that was the last game with CPU Michael Jordan playing close to his real self. But the so called love for 2k16 on this site is revisionst history, nba 2k16 was just as hated on and disrespected as every other 2k was since I found this site in 2010.

Because 2k16 has BY FAR the best gameplay of the current gen 2Ks. 2k17 and 2k18 just don't feel right. The movement, lack of vibration, its pititfuly easy to just drive past someone in 2k17 and 2k18. Iil doubt they ever top 2k16.

                  Right.

2K16 was very, very underappreciated at the time of its release...maybe 2k18 will get some more love in 2020, lol

...Huh, did we play the same 2K17? Maybe you're talking about online play, but against the AI, they mirrored your inputs and stone walled you nearly every time. As an offline-only user, that was one of the key reasons why 2K17 was my least played by far.

You're right but once you tweaked the sliders, 2K16 has the best gameplay on this gen (i didnt try 2K14 on PS4/XB1).

For Association mode, 18 is deeper, with rule changes and additions that were added. There is both pro's and con's with gameplay when compared to 16 or 17, to that of 18. I enjoyed both 16,17 and 18, but overall, if I had to choose, Id probably go with 18, if I were choosing between them. Im also a offline only player who only cares about the Association.

vs CPU 2k16 maybe barely superior to most other 2k games. However it had best , most balanced gameplay mechanics for multiplayer. There really wasn't that one "easy to do , hard to stop" gameplay exploit like we have blowby/snatchbacks in 2k18 or speedboosting dribbling behind brick wall in 2k17 . The only 2k game where defense felt really strong when you play straight up on ball D without any gimmicks .

I only play vs the CPU The ******** auto cpu double teams made 2k17 basically unplayable. All you had to do ws score with a star until they double teamed then just pass out of the double team, you get a easy lay up 97% of the time, like ypu can do it all game, don't know what the devs were thinking making 2k17,

also lots of players looked ridiculous with their starving child body types, the game is just god awful, 2k should be embarrassed they released such a terrible game after making such a good game in 2k16.

2k18 is basically a touched up 2k17 IMO, its defenity better than 17, but its still not close to 2k16. Its a joke how easy it is to just blow by someone, the moment is sooo choppy, the FUN is just not there in 2k18 that 2k16 had. Its hard to explain but 2k17/2k18 just don't feel right when playing.

TLDR. 16>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>18>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>17 is by far the worst lol
