Re: If defense isn't nerfed Lockdowns will be superfluous.

I’m dead serious when I say I wish I could personally delete this and all threads like it from the internet. Because I know at some point they are going to patch or tweak something because of this whining (no offense) and it will completely ruin the game.

I know this because it has happened in each of the last 3 years and has significantly ruined my enjoyment of a product I thought would remain consistent. Frankly I’m tired of it.

I'm definitely seeing some questionable defense from the off-ball CPU in the Prelude, and it does worry me.

Here I'm controlling Curry, and got beat by Sexton. I switched to Green since Love was behind the play, and cut off Sexton, but Durant for some reason leaves Cedi open in the corner, even though I had already stopped the drive with Green. Cedi knocked down the wide open three, and I am still wondering why Durant left him open.

Seen this a couple times in the full release gameplay vids too. Another year of the CPU overhelping unless you spend the first minute of every game changing all of your defensive settings

2K doesn't need to listen to players like this... its that kind of thinking that got the game in a stinkhole from the jump.

People complain too much, especially about things they just need to learn. Earn it, figure it out, do some strategy and like Kobe said figure it out.
Exactly. If I'm getting consistently locked down by sharps I'm heading straight to Scrimmage mode and learning new dribble moves/combos to break down the D, not begging the devs to nerf it.

I was getting destroyed by the blowby on 18 and up until like June I was still in the lab trying to figure out ways to counter it. What's up with this new generation of 2K players man lmao?

Instant gratification. That's it. In 18, I never learned momentum dribbles. I still don't have a handle on speed boosting. But I bet there's 4 or 5 guys on these forums who I've played walk on or park with that will tell you I can get to the rim whenever I want.

I learned how to deal with most defense. I learned how to deal with most offense. About halfway through the year, when my goto tactics started getting stopped, I switched my approach.

It's the homogeneous "You must play this way or its wrong" philosophy the community adopted around 2k16. That's the problem

It's funny cause I think my on-ball D got better dealing with the blow by all year.

I learned how to shade, use angles to cut off the ballhandler, lay off the right stick, not to smother the ball handler, the prerotate defensive setting etc.

Obviously it didn't matter because the blowby was virtually unstoppable but you're right. Seeing what works and what doesn't and switching up your strategy is how you get better in the game.

It's ok to get your *** whooped lmao. This "If I don't win the game is broken" mentality is lame as hell.

Yh it's pretty obvious by now. Auto defensive settings are trash and will just have your AI costing you like shown here.

damn, he not only left him open, durant went almost literally to the other side of the paint.

noticed this in the prelude too. hope it didnt make its way over to the finished product (as "finished" as a day one 2k release can be)

Yh like there was really no reason for him to do that. Despite the mismatch on the switch, each man was covered. No reason to leave Osman open and protect the paint. Green had the paint covered. This is why auto settings can't be used. Your AI will just screw you over.

This was caused by 2 issues that ive noticed

1). It seems that only perimeter players are coded to help on drives. I have yet to see where a big man reacted as the initial help defender.

                        2. The ai is not yet able to cancel out its decision in mid flight. It is not able to recognize that yes help was needed initially but oh now the user has provided adequate help.

Must say this is the kind of thread that comes with jumping the gun and over reacting and complete not needed

I'm glad this particular community rejected this line of thinking and rightfully so

For years Czar's offensive tweaks have been outpacing the defensive improvements by Scott OG, to the point where I felt choosing any defensive archtype in my build was futile. Last year, I made a pure Slasher as my main and I felt defense with it was as good as it was any other. (stick skills aside).

This is the first year in the last six that I am again considering a defensive archtype as my main. It feels really good to have what I perceive as a true option available.

Thank you very much Scott OG and Czar for your dedication and hard work throughout the years. Every year, this is what convinces me to keep purchasing the game.

I am really happy to be able to revert to my natural play-style (aka Gary Payton) and leave the Russell Westbrook archtype behind this year.

re-watching Durant a few times. Not just the questionable defensive decision the AI made to leave Cedi open, Durant literally just slide into the paint like there are wheels underneath his shoes 🤦🏻*♂️

For those who have gotten the game, is this happening too?
