Loving this short write-ups you put out on a team so far into a dynasty. I'm getting one started that I'm probably going to play until 2K20 goes on sale around Christmas time (I just don't think I want to play the full $60 just yet). I won't spoil it too much yet as I'm posting it in the Basketball Dynasty thread but I'm trying to keep Kemba as the off-season begins - while staying within the realistic rules I've given myself of Michael Jordan wanting to keep Charlotte under the luxury tax. While it's 30 team control, I am still offering multiple deals to players so that there still is a random element involved. I'm in Summer League right now, but I'm ready to get the games underway.

I'm looking to let some games be hands off CPU vs CPU but still play here and there when I can. I just love basketball noise, so I'll let a game play in the background while I'm doing other stuff.

my team finished the 2029 regular season with 49 wins, good enough for the 3rd seed. its the lowest seed I've finished at in 5 years and first time im outside the top 3 in the power rankings. my chemistry has gone up steadily since the big Tatum trade and we finished the year with some nice momentum. round 1 vs the Bulls. remember last year I traded them Myles Turner for Steph Curry. Curry is 41 years old but still playing, he said this would be his last year. hes been my emergency point guard. still decent on offense but a huge defensive liability.

I won the first 2 games, then they won the next 2. important game 5, we hit a 3 pointer with 1 second to go to tie and send it to overtime. my star player who leads league in PPG went 0-5 in OT and we lost, it was a crushing defeat. now down 3 games to 2 just like that. all the games were really close. game 6 a must win game I gave Curry 15 minutes cause I needed a spark and I wanted him to get to play since his career was gonna be over. he scored 12 points and my team won a nail biter 121-119 mostly thanks to a coldblooded 3 in the final minute by my PF who was a 1st rounder 2 years ago but this was the year he finally got to play. big moment for him.

now game 7 will be tomorrow, I am really nervous cause I know a loss may mean the end of this amazing franchise. I know it will happen eventually, my team doesn't stack up with the top contenders this year, but I just wanna at least win 1 round or have some small victory to remember. I am gonna leave Curry in there and hope for the best.

Custom rosters on aren't even showing up on the roster picker anymore... Anyone have a fix because this is annoying 😡

If it’s saved locally it’s sometimes hidden unless you delete some rosters. The fix for me has been to load it from the online save of the roster.

I've had a tough go if it with my Celtics in my 2k19 MyLeague.

In 18-19 I finished 2nd in the standings and lost a 3-0 lead (and the series) in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to the 76ers. Golden State ended up winning the championship and completing their 3-peat.

In 19-20 I did resign Kyrie (this was before he quit on the team IRL so I was good with him at the time ) I finished with the best record in the East but got smoked by Bucks in the ECF... the Bucks went on to win the NBA Title.

In 20-21 I tried Kyrie for a packaged that landed Lonzo Ball, Jarrett Allen and some picks/swaps. I was doing okay but eventually decided do a three-team deal that sent Ball and some picks for Kemba (who was with Denver) and Horford went to Philly. I finished 4th and swept the Hornets in the 1st Round. The 8th seeded Pistons uspet the Nets so I thought I had it made in the 2nd round, but ended up losing in 7 games to a team that looked far inferior on paper. The Bucks won their second straigt NBA title and Giannis won MVP. That gave him his first league MVP and two straight NBA Finals MVP's. He's a lock for HOF at this point.

It's been a heck of a ride and it's funny considering I wavered on using the Celtics at the beginning of the season because "they were too good". That just goes to show you that you never know what's going to happen on the court. I haven't decided if I'm going to start another season yet. I still have a couple of personal draft classes that I spent hours creating and haven't used. At the moment, I'm thinking that I will continue with 2K19 since 2K20 hasn't really sold me yet... but I'm also pretty weak when it comes to new and shiny things.

Year 2029-2030

After scratching and clawing through 6 games, game 7 was a surprising blowout by my team, winning by 20 points over the Bulls to advance to the East semifinals. it was the best the team has looked all season and I am really happy with my team now.



In the next round I was very happy to face the 7 seed Hornets, who stunned the 2 seed Wizards in 7 games. I knew I could beat them, its a huge mismatch on paper and even after losing game 1, I was super confident. They were the definition of a young and scrappy team and game 2 took overtime to win and make it 1-1. Then I won game 3, they won game 4. it was 2-2 and I was getting kinda nervous. I won a huge game 5, then took game 6 in a blowout to advance to the Eastern conference finals!



I now face the #1 seed Boston Celtics. I have owned them the past 5 or so years, defeating them in the playoffs a few times. Their lone star is Ben Simmons who's game is very limited as we all know. We split 2-2 in the regular season but my team has only recently reached its peak. I really think we have a shot! In other news, the super team Spurs were upset by last years champion the Pelicans in the semifinals. they will collide with the Suns dynasty in the West finals. Regardless of who wins the East, they will be heavy underdogs. But this is starting to feel like a season of destiny.

Year 2029-2030 ECF

After losing to the Celtics by 30 points in game 1, and a heartbreaking buzzer beater in game 2, my hope was dwindling. But my team turned it around and rallied for 4 straight wins! they really hit another gear, winning by an average point differential of 12 points. Ben Simmons played out of his mind but could not get enough help around him. The Magic are headed back to the finals for the first time since 2025! I will be taking on the Suns dynasty, who have won 4 out of 5 championships from 2022-2027 with their only loss being to me in 2024. We met in the finals again in 2025 and they got their revenge, so there is a bit of a rivalry being renewed here. Let me be honest I'm a pretty big underdog, their team is completely stacked and by far the deepest team. Lead by future hall of famer Luka Doncic, their 9th best player is an 85, who would probably be my 4th best player. They have drafted unbelievably well. With NBA 2k20 on the horizon and this likely being my final season, I feel like I am meant to go out on a high note. Could this be a team of destiny? Bring it on, Phoenix!

The Magic stun the Suns in a NBA Finals Game 1 for the ages!

High scoring game, 10+ lead changes, back and forth for 4 quarters. Down to the final few possessions. Magic have the ball, down by 1 with 20 seconds to go. Jayson Tatum's jumper is no good! Luka Doncic gets the rebound! Looks like the Suns are gonna win this one. But before he can react, my center swipes the ball out of his hands! Doncic grabs it, bobbles it, it bounces away from him over to Tatum who wrestles it away from Doncic. Tatum passes it ahead to my star shooting guard who is fouled from behind by Doncic with 12 seconds to go!! He hits both free throws (finished with 41 points, and 20 in the 4th quarter) to give the Magic the 1 point lead. Timeout Suns. The inbounds pass goes to Lonzo Ball who drives and hits the pullup jumper with 4 seconds left, now the Suns are back in front 122-121. Timeout Magic. Inbounds pass goes to my point guard who throws a dart to the paint right to the out-stretched arm of my PF who reals it in, lays it up and.. ITS GOOD!! no timeouts left for Pheonix.. they inbound it.. full court shot is NO GOOD! THE MAGIC WIN GAME 1! 123-122!!!!

The underdog Magic stun the Suns in game 2, go up 2-0!

In a game with 20 LEAD CHANGES, the Magic barely edged out the heavily favored Suns 120-113 to steal another game in Phoenix. They head back to Orlando up 2-0 in a series many thought could be lopsided the other way. The Suns won the turnover battle heavily but hit just 4 of 23 on 3 pointers and could not get a bucket down the stretch. This is unbelievable to be up 2-0 against such a good team I can't believe how well my team is playing lately, they are definitely peaking at the right time. I'm trying not to get too excited yet, but man.. we might actually do it!

Year 2029-2030 NBA Finals

After losing game 1 & 2 at home, the Suns rebounded in a big way, winning the next 3 games in convincing fashion. Game 6 with their backs already against the wall, the Magic faced a 22 point deficit early in the game. Rallying behind the home crowd, the team fought back and made it a game. In the 4th quarter they finally tied it, and eventually went ahead. With not much time left the Suns hit a 3 pointer to tie the game with 15 seconds left to play, silencing the crowd. Timeout by the Magic. The inbounds pass goes to my SG, who holds the ball at the top until theres about 10 seconds left. Its a pick n roll, he passes it to Jayson Tatum coming in from the corner. He catches it, Luka Doncic recovers and tries to contest. Tatum with the spin move, he puts Doncic on ice skates. He does a step back move, and launches a shot up as the buzzer sounds.. ITS GOOD! THE MAGIC FORCE GAME 7!!!! Unbelievable! The season, and to an extent the whole franchise, will come down to 1 final game - Game 7 @ Phoenix. For all the glory.

In 2K19 I put together / created all 30 rosters from the 2002-03 NBA season and put them into MyLeague to recreate the NBA from that time on. The historic draft classes make this so much fun.

I got to the 2007-08 season, and it was a blast. I used the Celtics and enjoyed evolving from the Pierce/Antoine days into the Pierce/KG/Allen/Rondo era year by year while updating every team across the league each year to keep it realistic (yet also with some of my own twists).

In 2K20, I'm going to do the same thing but this time I'm starting with 1995-96 NBA rosters, and updating them all each season to fit reality from each year.

This time, instead of being the Celtics the whole way through and playing GM, I'm going to pick a new team across the league each season I progress in MyLeague. Starting off with the 1996 draft class will be great too!

I'm thinking I'll be Seattle in 95-96, then for 96-97 either Houston or Miami, the Wolves or Pistons in 97-98, the Knicks in 98-99 then if I make it to a 5th season I'll be the 99-00 Kings.

Are you doing CPU vs CPU games to get these screenshots?

EDIT: Oh found your post about the setup, CPU vs CPU every game including reg season? That's insane! I agree it's the most fun way to sim but I only do it for playoff elimination games to save time (or sometimes a whole playoff series if it a good matchup).

I thought it might be helpful to put together a collection of house rules to consider when running your myleague. I think my favorite is using the number of wins your team gets and tying that to the quality of free agents you can sign in the offseason.

What kind of house rules are your favorite to use when playing MyLeague?

Trading is definitely the biggest thing. I don't think you need complicated rules for it though. Just one rule: if you were running the other team, would you do the trade? If not, no trade. So you have to look for trades that make sense and are win-win. Yeah IRL teams make dumb trades sometimes but in myLeague you're playing against 29 Billy Kings not just 1, gotta help em out.

I do have one specific trade rule though, which is no trading for future 1st round picks. The AI is just horrible at undervaluing them, but equally important is that they also serve as an easy way for the player to stockpile assets and stay loaded every single year.

I just straight up have a "no luxury tax" rule to keep financial decisions interesting. You mention going into the tax for a contender but honestly you'll probably be a contender 90% of the time!

No training camp or no untapped potential training camp is another good one, stops you from creating stars out of thin air.

I don't like that idea of a rule capping FA quality based on prior year record. The game already does try to model this on a player by player basis, and most players who aren't superstars won't care and just want to get paid. Also if you tanked, got a hype no1 pick, and have cap space for 2 max guys and decent roleplayers...stars will absolutely sign with you even if you won 20 games last year.

The ideas about letting the CPU do more stuff for you would definitely up the difficulty and aren't unrealistic but I'm already simming all the games, I'm not going to let the AI do more stuff

2029-2030 NBA Finals

Orlando's cinderella season came to an end in game 7 of the 2030 NBA Finals, as they were blown out by Suns - their 5th championship in 8 seasons. All 4 of the Sun's victories in the series were blowouts, its an amazing effort by my team to have even forced the series to 7 games. I've never been more proud of my teams effort. I have nothing but respect for the Suns, their reign of dominance has been incredible to see. Never before have I been outdone by CPU teams so consistently. Luka Doncic was named finals MVP, his 3rd time winning the award, a future hall of famer for sure. Speaking of which, Magic guard Steph Curry, now age 41, came up just short to finishing his career out with another championship. His last 3 pointer ever was from just past the mid court logo, in typical fashion.

And so ends my 2k19 franchise. The most fun I've ever had on a sports game. It had it all - tanking, pushing for the playoffs, taking the next step, winning it all, and trying to maintain my success. Some parts went better then others. I'll never forget all the amazing moments, the triumphs, the heartbreaks. This game taught me so much about basketball. I can't wait to see what 2k20 will have in store for me. I'm looking forward to a new start with a new team. But I'll never forget this one.
