Has this problem been addressed through the patches lately?

      4 games.

That's how long the transition defense has been like this. Literally since 2K16.

I don't like to use the term "trash" to describe aspects of the game but this right here is trash. I don't need the CPU to defend the break perfectly but at least put it to a respectable level where they're not a liability to me.

Errrr....5. I hate to be that guy but 2K15 had broken Transition D as well. Online guys went straight up the court and passed the ball to guys like Westbrook and wreaked havoc.

2k11 and 2k12 has best defensive rotations/awareness imo. Can't speak about 13, but 2k14 is where the defense started to get broken

Ironically....the shooter actually stayed in the corner during the fastbreak, lol! Do you know how many times that I have complained about that?

Here's an example of how well it works online for cheesers--this guy might have run a half-court offense ONCE in this video of the 1st half.

                Re: Transition Defense

I think it helps to like the NBA first before buying into its products.

My first NBA 2K game was 15 in 2015 for $15, and I only got it because it was my first Steam Summer sale, and I was craving for any cheap games for my relatively new gaming computer.

Having absolutely no knowledge about the NBA or even basketball in general, I was confused and lost. The New Orleans Pelicans chose me in MyCAREER as I was terrible and couldn’t tryout for the other teams and I couldn’t really care less.

I would drop the game shortly and wouldn’t pick it up again until next year, when my family was going crazy about their team, the Golden State Warriors who broke the record for most wins with 73-9 that year.

It was a little more fun playing that time around. I picked up 2K16 on sale and I’ve been in love since.

The Sacramento Kings have since been my team, and I’ve been lucky enough to have worked inside Golden 1 Center arena the past couple of years and experience the fall of losing Boogie and the rise of our new players.

                  Re: Transition Defense

This highlights how low the transition awareness is from our defenders.

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/knTFTntAiB8" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Chandler has the assignment of Kuz. He dunks, celebrates [emoji849] and loses him, but Embiid and Simmons are both back and their covers (Ball and McGee) are at the OTHER 3pt line. They have to help and should never have ignored Kuz as he ran upcourt.

Why doesn't anyway break on the ball? Thats what consistently breaks transition defense--the defenders literally concede the catch and rarely deflect or steal the ball. Its as if Kuz doesn't exist until he has the ball. As the first guys back, both should shadow the man threatening upcourt and switch back afterwards. I hope this is fixed in 2K20. I cant go through another year of head-scratching Transition D.

                    Re: Transition Defense

I dont get why they dont try a new system with this. Literally anything would be better then this current fast break system.

It looks like they have defenders disregard whats actually happening, run to a preset spot, and then turn and find someone to guard. This doesn't work.

File and guard who ever is within your lane and if not get the closest man thats coming or in the corner.

I dont need DSJ running into the paint to guard a fast break where Klay is running to the corner and Curry is running the break. What sense does it make that hes there?

Even on offense I dont need Trae Young driving strong and a Zion running to the corner. How is it they always talk about how they tweaked the system and its the same problem?
                    ... But hey VC sale!!

                      Re: Transition Defense

Its becoming painfully obvious that defenders have no awareness of the ball until the offensive players possess it--or atleast not until well after the offensive players know where the ball is and have claimed it. During the flight of the ball no defender reacts to the ball...when its on the ground they ignore it.

If you watch players play D they are also looking into the offensive players eyes intead of watching the chest or ball

If they want to fix it, I don't see why a PGs' "predetermined" spot can't be the top of 3PT line, the wings for the SG/SFs, PF maybe the mid-range area, and the paint for Cs. That seems to make the most sense to me.
