For them to get rid of the ice-skating they will have to re-write the code

Yh its obviously not changing right now. I'm hoping next gen 2k will bring a change to this and have actual foot planting.

The code should've been rewritten to combat this when this current gen dropped back in 2013, everyone had prior knowledge of console changes coming. . . here we are almost 6yrs. later and we're still playing Figure Skating 2K19[emoji23]

The problem is sliders aren't usable in all modes.

I've found that L2 should be used sparingly. From my experience, it prevents the user from being able to trigger contact animations with the CPU ball handler.

All of this makes sense. It seems like it is an issue of foot planting because the players just float to the left or right, and they don't quickly respond to switching planting in new directions.

This has been an issue for a long time. But I feel like it gets overlooked. It CAN be done, because Live has done it quite well actually. But the totality of what 2k has built has convinced me to play both.

I wish a dev would respond to something like this and explain their thought process or possibilities of fixing it. Because the community typically blames the user for bad defense. But what you see translated on the screen is normally only due to poor foot planting..

Im still waiting for a patch to add in hardwood floors and not ice that were playing basketball on. Im probably crazy though for expecting an actual gameplay fix in a patch.

Really? Never knew this. I'm gonna test things out and see. I usually like to stay in intense D and stay in front of my man.

They need to just add defensive assist back to the game. Doesnt make sense to have these defensive deficiencies and take out defensive assist. Defensive assist wouldnt be needed if foot planting wasnt an issue.

Has this been confirmed? The sliding was not nearly as bad and foot planting was serviceable in 2K17 and before. It was when they made all the animation changes in last years game when the skating got really bad.

Unfortunetely, players still skate all around on the court in 2k19.

Wish they would address this once and for all so we can have a basketball game that looks and feels like basketball and not hockey.

It's miserable trying to move around on defense in this game.

it's never been this bad before. I don't remember seeing it like this.

No but just my thoughts. Considering this is a yearly title and we're only like a yr or two out from next gen, I don't see them making any drastic changes until next gen tbh. That's just imo though.
