Sure, there should be a way, but I've seen far too much from this community while running by myself. There are times where I'll give someone a chance, and more often than not, they are who I thought they were. Sometimes that 25% chance of running into that smart player with the horrific record and lousy rating doesn't outweigh the 75% chance of that person playing EXACTLY how their record and rating indicates.

Pretty much. If someone messes up once or twice, it is whatever, we are all prone to it, **** happens. But if I watch you make the same dumb mistake a third time, and you add to it by flopping and not getting back and letting your man score, then this is when “that is why you are 200 games under .500” gets said.
These are the kinds of people that should play amongst themselves.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
Lately I've been backing out of games before they start after gauging teammates records with the amount of games played just because of past experience with giving them a chance. They usually end up being what I thought they would be. You find some decent players but rare.
Dont care for rank but I've been amateur 3 for awhile now, record 207-96 got up to pro1 but dropped right back down since constantly get paired with 62 overalls or terrible records. No fun getting matched up against squads who obviously run together and most my random teammates quit before halftime.
Maybe showing player grade would help on join screen? But that would just promote more backing out. I guess it comes down to a better match making system.Last edited by mustardnmayo; 03-23-2019, 03:52 PM.Go Broncos. Go Wizards.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
I don't think you can judge based solely on record. My record isnt great but I rarely finish with teammate grade under A.
I just don't have patience or desire to cherry pick teammate. I just want to get in and play and hopefully help the team to win.
Obvious when you do this you will have your share of bad experiences. Plus I seem to run into an actual team every 5 games or so (which by the way us really dumb.....what do they get out of playing against a bunch of randoms).
I am sure there are plenty of players like me that just want to log in, play and compete. I want to win but at the end of the day a rec center record means nothing.
Just play and try to have fun. If you are really good you should be able to lift your team up even if you have inferior team mates.
Almost any scrub can win if matched up with 4 good players in a rec league game. It takes more skill to try and win with group that may not be the best but you help pull out the improbable win.
As a real world example, Milwaukee Bucks Sterling Brown team record 54-19. Lakers Lebron James 31-41. So with the thread logic Sterling Brown is far superior to Lebron James because his record is better. C'mon man. Just play the game and stop worrying about backing out and records. A lot of it is just circumstances.Last edited by TheBrew101; 03-23-2019, 01:39 PM.Comment

Record doesn’t mean all, but like Cal said, there are definitely times you can tell pretty quickly if someone is highly responsible for sinking their team at a really frequent rate. Sorry, but this isn’t enjoyable to play next to in any circumstance.
I’m fairly casual myself, I don’t freak out after a loss and I just like to chill and have a good time. However, a blatantly bad teammate can really spoil the experience, whether or not they do it intentionally.
It is just a video game at the end of the day, but as Herm Edwards once said, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. Doesn’t really matter if it is competition or a group collaboration; I would prefer not working with the person who is a net negative, and I would imagine tons feel that way in a variety of settings.

I try to avoid backing out, but if I walk in and see a situation that is clearly going to be awful, I’m out. I do everything I can to help, but literally one person can ruin it for everyone. I am sure you have played a game where someone let his matchup go off, and this person gave no effort and cared only about shooting. I’ve sat through that 30-40 minutes of trash and I am going to avoid it if I can.
Like I said before, I am not that picky, just can’t deal with someone who does worse than contributing nothing—-they prevent your team from scoring and allow the other team free reign.
My record wouldn’t be good either with all randoms, but I don’t think this thread is totally about that, it’s about the people who are atrocious team players that is always the main reason the team loses. at least I think that is what Keith is referring to.
I wish there was a tiered system, let all the quitters and habitually bad teammate grade guys mingle amongst each other, get a taste of their own medicine.Last edited by ph33; 03-23-2019, 04:26 PM.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
Complaint threads are there to correct the crap in the game so...
When I play pickup IRL and there's enough ballers there, I'm picking and choosing who I run with usually.
The system is broke, 2K needs to let us back out like we had the option with Walkon. Literally takes 20 min to find a game whether it's backing out over and over to find non-trash or the time it takes to form a squad.
SpoilerI've played bball IRL for yearsSay "No" to railroaded MC modes.Comment

You're just the typical 2K random, sorry if the truth hurts. The typical 2K random has the same narcissistic me-first mentality like you.Comment

Pretty sure it's more arrogant for bums to keep polluting a mode because it's all about them, instead of learning how to play the game or win. So lemme ask, at what threshold would you backout? If you had 4 teammates who were 60 OVR with 10% win% you're not backing out? You probably are backing out, therefore a hypocrite.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
I have a 90 OVR Driving/Rebounding PF.
I've gotten matched in games with 60-70 OVR teammates vs. all-90+ teams and just played anyways because it already had taken 15 minutes to find a game. Lost all of those.
I've had some games where I was going off (20-20 games, triple-doubles and near triple-doubles) and STILL was getting blown out because no one would play defense.
Since everyone plays their sharpshooters and chucks up jumpers, I've gotten by having good games from cuts, putbacks, etc. while usually locking up my man no matter the build.
I've had games where the PG was awful and wouldn't stop shooting even though everyone else on the team showed good b-ball IQ.
I also play a lot with my friends who...aren't that good. But I play with them anyways cuz they're my friends and I love hanging out with them even if Nate is one of those awful PGs I mentioned above
My JRC record is indeed under 40% tho so I'll stop playing
You're not making a salary to play this game, are you? It's not life and death. Just relax and play.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
I bet records would even out a bit if the rec just stopped allowing full groups.
They should just make the pro am more flexible.
Ranked matches for real teams
Unranked matches for thrown together lineups
And have the rec as a real rec: go in solo and take your chances. Atleast you have a fighting chance knowing you’re not going to run into a 5man lineup consisting of “comp 2k players” who dont have the balls to play proam.
On top of this, a decent matchmaking system.Comment

Came home late and thought I'd do a game.
Got matched up with a team where all the players had a record of 900-50. This is not an exaggeration...
They really do need a court for randoms only, no squad of any kind
Oh and my point guard that game flopped literally every.single.time when someone would miss a shot or turn it over
....he was 6-17 with 7 turnovers. Get lost.Last edited by ph33; 03-24-2019, 09:41 AM.Comment

Re: Stop joining JRC if your record is under 40%
Honestly, I'm fine with full teams going into the Rec. It's rewarding as hell beating those teams when you are able to get on the mic and communicate with the randoms, and are able to get everyone on the same page.
While some do go 'bum-hunting', sometimes you wanna just join up with a few people and run Rec games in a more relaxed environment. You may have a couple people you trust on the team because of high IQ, but maybe one or two other friends who you wouldn't DARE take into competitive Pro-Am because of their IQ. I know a FEW of those kinds of people on my friends list. And sometimes you just don't feel like dealing with constant 5-out offenses, 3 Lockdown lineups and/or a Sharpshooting Playmaker 'dribble dweeb' dribbling and dancing around brick wall screens game after game after game.Comment
