The WNBA has recently pretty much been a marketing campaign directed at women..it clearly doesnt make money yet they always bail them out. At the end of the day they do have a working relationship with the NBA(nba 2k) and maybe this a way to target the LBGT.

I honestly dont care and unlike these guys here playing the PC role ive actually watched the WNBA. these women are very very skilled players. They can do it all aside having the athleticism to play through contact/ above the rim but thats obvious.

It will definitely hit some LGBTQ+ members. Again, I can't speak for the entire trans community and would never try to, however I am personally excited to be able to play as the correct gender. I primarily watch the NBA, and I'm totally guilty of not watching WNBA more than a few times(Although I know those women are extremely talented. I'm just hoping I finally don't have to get hit with a brick of dysphoria everytime I play one of my favorite games.

On top of that, I know quite a few females that play 2k. And I consider my playgroup small, so I'd be willing to bet that number is significantly larger than most people are willing to admit. That's really all I have to say, there's a few things I want to take a shot at(The Ben Shapiro Roleplayer), but I'm not going to devolve this Into an all political post. At least not more than its devolved into already. I think the feature will be fine. I think it's not a waste considering that all the extra neighborhood stuff exists, and that's extra AF.

I don't think the resources needed to add the WNBA would be that big of a deal.

Assuming that it means they weren't able to do other things isn't very bright until we see the features that get released.

There's some things i don't like about 2k. Adding features and ahving innovative content isn't one of them. They just may not be my cup of tea.

Sounds like a nothing burger until we know other things were sacrificed.

I’m not that happy with the addition of the WNBA.
I’m wanted a few body types (muscular, etc) for years now but it’s no problem for them to include female characters (It’s probably even the same guys responsible for that) just because live have them

Just another thought on the idea of the inclusion of the WNBA taking up time and resources. It's not wrong to expect the addition of WNBA teams and players to take up time and resources but with next gen consoles dropping next yesr 2k is probably already looking towards the future. At this point in the console cycle it's a little unrealistic to expect major changes and improvements. 2k might be adding the WNBA now so that next year they can go all in with the new tech.

what i hope is they give them a myleage or season mode

they are some great woman players in that leguge

as long as it fits on the disc and that is dont cause slowdown

what so bad about it this might cause better hair syles overall

Whether you play it or not, options are always best for us fans.

Secondly there is that chance the NBA wants this in current games instead of standalone.

Not trying to devolve this thing into purely a political conversation but....Just because times change doesn't mean they always change for the better. I think history has shown us that over and over. Me personally, I'll never believe that inclusivity is more important than things like freedom, merit, creativity, etc. All have suffered under this corporatist view of "equality" and in western culture we're no doubt closer today to an authoritarian nightmare than we were, just 20 years ago when a good portion of the population wasn't brain washed into thinking everything has to arbitrarily be equal. I don't think anybody can argue we got better quality games back then and that was because the focus was on creating great games and not trying to placate every social group on the planet.

We had great games then, we have great games now. We had bad games then, and we have bad games now. Women have been included either way.

Anywho, there’s many reasons why the NBA and/or 2K would want the WNBA in the game, the least of which is probably “inclusivity” or “equality.” Remember that in the end, both of these entities exist to make money. If the NBA is investing in women’s basketball or 2K is adding it into the game, they’re seeing dollars. They may not manifest today or tomorrow, but women are more than half of the world’s population. As a business, you’d be a fool to not try to get in touch with that market. How many more male basketball fans is 2K going to pull in? Us basketball fans who play games, likely already play 2K or have given it a try and decided it wasn’t for us. Also, I’m sure that 2K saw the positive reception that the other game received for adding in the WNBA.

For me personally, I’m interested to see if they include the ladies in the NBA Live route or the FIFA soccer route.

This is dope, I love the WNBA and I know plenty of men and women who were excited to see them in Live who will no doubt be excited to see em in 2K. Hopefully it's more than just teams in exhibition, I wanna play through the season, allow for expansion like in MyLeague to allow for more teams, more games, all that. I wanna put some older WNBA teams and stars in with the new crop of greats runnin rn.

It's connected to the quality because as I said above, it takes away the focus from what their core audience wants. Poll people that buy NBA 2K and I can guarantee you that having the WNBA in the game probably wouldn't make the top 100 of things that people want. If that was the case, people would have bought Live 19. If it was merited and people were really clamoring for a WNBA game, that would be one thing. But to just put it in there either purely for equality or perceived financial benefit is just wrong in my opinion and the core gamers suffer in the end because the product could have been better if the focus had been on improving the actual game. It's not hard to see that this move will go nowhere and most likely the WNBA will be removed in a year or two. You want women in the game? Pretty easy to just add in female create a characters in the street mode and call it a day. Absolutely no need to add in an entire new league that nobody watches. Huge misstep by 2K in my opinion.

Too much clutter. Just release a separate WNBA 2k20 and buy it if you want women's hoops

You could simply not use them in YOUR game. Nobody is forcing you to play with those athletes.

This title is called NBA2K isn't it? So how about the devs actually focus on the teams that play in the NBA and save the resources used for the teams outside it on gameplay.

It's just ironic to me in terms of the business:

NBA Live's iteration of including the WNBA received little love and support from the gaming/sports community, despite the claims for equality. Yeah, it was terrible (only having 5v5 Play Now basically) but it was a start.

NBA 2K (a superior product) does it and now everyone is super excited about it. But where was that same support last year around this time for NBA Live (in terms of the WNBA inclusion).

Seems to me people are going to support the "superior" product regardless compared to the "inferior" one. Which, to me, in terms of the public eye and business (not my opinion), is somewhat indicative of NBA (2K) > WNBA (Live). People are going to support something that they deem to be worth more for their money. It's interesting to say the least, I support 2K doing it but we all know how slick 2K is with stuff.

The ASSUMPTION of the amount of time that will be "dedicated" to the WNBA portion and "taken away" from the NBA portion is amazing.

You got dudes making up percentages and then you got dudes that have workload schedules of the devs.
