Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
I'm actually a hair concerned at this one given the prevalence of max height centers out there on the MyPlayer end and the prevalence of the Yao/Manute/Muresan cheese in MyTeam and even PNO to an extent. Hopefully this doesn't serve to make these players overpowered against regular-sized centers and only allows bigs to take advantage of actual smalls.

Im sure you guys have seen 2K20 gameplay...
Those behemoths you guys are referring to are going to be so lethargic that they wont be able to get up and down the court much less guard a PnR/PnP...
Its all part of the strategy... They can have all the advantage they want inside the paint but the trade-off is they'll be sucking air and cant move laterally to save their life...Find me on YouTube/Twitch/Twitter/ QuickButNeat

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
So now it's more about having the right angles, playing off guys a little more and forcing guys into help.
He said the blowby animation isn't necessarily a blowby but a "driving lane"..."are you forcing them baseline or are you letting them get to the middle, what kind of help do you have and what kind of shot challenge do you have once they get there?"Did this dude just did this?Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Well, let's wait and see if that is true (absurdly big men to be slow enough to become a liability on defense -half court specially-), cos in older 2k iterations that was not the case, as you already now... LOLLast edited by Guard-ian; 08-20-2019, 03:22 PM.Ignorance is Bliss...Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
so word is that ronnie2k confirmed there will be multiple parks, and that is making me have flashbacks of 24/7 mode (which i feel is vastly different than mycareer and having said that i would love to have back) and its myriad of parks and random places to play. they had a snowy rooftop court, an old western looking desert court, suburban backyard court, a steel mill court, and a ton of other ones too. i loved playing at all those different courts and ive been hoping they would have multiple locations to play whether real life or fictional locals.
playing in different places adds an entirely new flavor to the game and makes it feel fresher longer. sometimes i wanna play anteup just to play 3s on a court other than a blacktop. i hope its worth our while this yr

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
As long as they have the blow bys, but don't teach the community to HOW to play defense correctly first there will be a large number of complaints. For decades video game defense has been to collide with the ball handler, so breaking that habit is going to take guidance.
They should pitch it how EA does as a back of box item: "GROUND BREAKING NBA DEFENSE!!!"Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
In 2K the premium blocking position is trail position after you've been beaten. As long as this hasn't changed guys can have slow bigs, get their doors blown off and still be in prime position to make a play instead of the high foul rate and misses we SHOULD see.

If the 1st thing we're doing when we click on 80% of defenders is back up? You're asking for trouble. There's nothing that a solid offensive player likes more than a defender on his heels. This is the reason i've advocated for a 1-button shot contest (R-stick towards the shooter) for sooooo long.Last edited by Kushmir; 08-21-2019, 08:41 AM.NOTE: Any and ALL of my suggestions are specifically and only related to Play Now Online.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Czar addressed this on his new vid... the way the NBA is called now, defenders no longer can hand check and body up on guys, so the old way of running into ball handlers to get the body up animation is gone.
So now it's more about having the right angles, playing off guys a little more and forcing guys into help.
He said the blowby animation isn't necessarily a blowby but a "driving lane"..."are you forcing them baseline or are you letting them get to the middle, what kind of help do you have and what kind of shot challenge do you have once they get there?"In all the videos i've seen the defensive depth is the same. If 2K20 makes you give guys room and the AI hasn't gotten the memo? SMH.

It'll probably be even worse for Park/Rec/Pro Am guys, esp. when playing with randoms;I have yet to see more than a small handful of players able to coordinate enough to implement the kind of defensive schemes currently run in the modern NBA.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Most recent tweets following the demo appear to follow an alarming pattern. He has agreed to buff speed and stamina; he also has agreed to something regarding the jump shot selection for bigs. These changes are a direct result of limited feedback from a horde of Twitter morons.
It appears that 2k has made a deal with the devil, by having the derelicts from youtube and twitter market their game. Apparently, the team isn't aware that the youtube "influencers" sole purpose is to exploit the game and in turn, profit from it. This is executed by making videos such as "OP build", you get the picture. These people have to keep this relationship alive, in order to continue their schtick. They also do not want anything new or remotely resembling a realistic basketball sim.
I believe they need to completely open up the whole mycareer and just allow these clowns to basically whatever they want to do; with a very few minor limitations.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
It alarms me that this big of changes are just the result of a snap of a finger with complaints from the right people regardless of what the whole community wants. Some changes were needful (I'm glad to hear that there will be more options for player builds, for instance. That'll add more variety and interest for the MyPlayer folks. Also, I'd still like to see better interactions between the O and D) but overall I thought the demo played pretty well, especially in the areas that they're now "fixing". Can't just give up the ghost that easily
