What I notice with most 2k games, it's fairly easy to score at the rim if a guy is just playing hands up. Idk if that's how you were defending, but hands up seems to do little and a guy can just throw the ball up and it will go in most times, even though your all in his face. At the rim it's much better if your doing vertical contest.

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Mike just tweeted that they got rid of the shot contest rating. Contests will now be determined by your perimeter/interior defense rating in combination with distance of the shot.
Dont know how i feel about getting rid of more defense ratingsComment

Some of y'all make things more complicated than what they areComment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Because it is more complicated than one all encompassing rating. One can be good at positional defense but not as good as contesting shots. I just like how some of yall speak as if yall know better than everyone elseComment

EDIT: Reading the twitter replies and most people are still whining and complaining about SFs and dribble moves. Wow...Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 08-27-2019, 02:05 PM.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
To me, that would have to mean they completely revamped the shooting/contest programming. Logically speaking, the 3PT rating (for example) would be the base rating which will raise/fall according to badges and stamina. From there, penalties would be applied against it (distance, defensive badges, contest, etc).Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Damn...gave it more thought.
They "rebuilt" the entire shooting/contest/defense/offense mechanics. They're moving away from multiple ratings to "dynamic" results via badges, shooter distance, defender proximity impacting the base ratings. For that to work, I would think they built in more "zones".Comment

We look at your base shot ratings (Close, Mid, 3PT) depending on where you're shooting from and knock down your base shot % if you're shooting off dribble. Difficult Shots will then offset that hit and bring your %'s back up depending on what level you have.

Dang. This isn’t good news for my 6’9 defender. Now I think I may drop to 6’8 so that I have a higher perimeter defense attribute simply for better perimeter shot contests if this is the case. I think that’s highly critical for me. Contesting long range jumpers. Back to the lab I will go. Gotta adjust.
Edit: Never mind. I see in a later tweet that Mike Wang confirms that height/wingspan and defensive attributes are pretty much equally important for contesting shots.

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
I almost posted some sarcastic f*%#ery about missing two jump shots in a row but I dont want to get suspended again.
I would rather have had the contest rating. I also would love to see what James Hardens is. Gotta be a 28⬆️.Playing NBA 2K feels like a job that pays minimum wage and then cuts your pay when you get your Bill's right to make it even harder to succeed. I do not like this game but it's the only one in town.

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
I don't know why people are complaining given how much everyone loves offense. For shooters, this is a huge benefit because the contested rating was always lower than the base rating.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
I know this makes some of us nervous but i'm willing to give it a try. We've complained for years about how guys can play their starters all game without any real downside--this may be the resolution.Last edited by Kushmir; 08-27-2019, 04:27 PM.NOTE: Any and ALL of my suggestions are specifically and only related to Play Now Online.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
Beluba put out a new poll asking if Takeover is too difficult to get in the demo and 65% say that it is too difficult. Sigh...
I'm wondering how much Steady Shooter helps, if at all, for lightly contested shots. If it makes minimal difference on lightly contested, I'll probably just skip out on this badge and focus those points on something else (or potentially redistribute those badge points into one of the other 3 categories).NFL: Bills
