While I respect the modern offenses, the functions of the triangle works in different ways.

Spurs ran some semblance of sets also.

..but yeah I doubt it'll return to this modern league. Maybe never.

While everyone in this thread loves and has an appreciation for the offense run by Phil Jackson in Chicago and LA I'm sure we could put together a good playbook that people can create on their own that is more appropriate for playing with modern teams.

I've always appreciated how beautiful the offense was to watch when it was humming but I know little about the actions and proper read/react principles but I'm willing to help any way I can.

At the end of the day triangle is just a format. You can run any play you see out of horns, 21, or whatever other set. If you watch the tape you’ll even see that before MDA ran the 21 series there was the triangle corner/guard dribble series. I even have clips of the lakers running Zipper Fist [emoji23]. Hell before Spain pnr they ran a similar “twist” play where the man setting the back pick was a big instead of a small. The Spurs beat the Heat basically running pinch post till they were blue in the face. It’s not even a debate that the system is flexible and adaptable.

TBH with the triangle in 2K if I have shooters I shoot. If I have post players I post up. If I have slashers I hit them on the cuts and use them in pnr. I know exactly what I’m doing regardless of who is healthy and who is not or what team I’m using (I was a MyGM guy before the travesty they call MyGM 2.0). It’s not “accidental” basketball like Kobe talks about in the interview.

Also ppl say the midrange is dead but don’t look at the percentages that good teams (even the rockets) shoot it....especially in the playoffs. And I honestly don’t shoot that many that aren’t wide open unless I have a good post fade guy or a pnr maestro like CP3 that can hit contented ones at a high clip.

I feel like between 2k11 and 2k20 I’ve seen most of not all of actions you would see in a regular game back when it was winning nba championships. I can’t thank Czar enough for incorporating what he has so far especially with the freelance. Since no team is running it exclusively we can’t expect he or his team to go back and watch tape of plays from past 2Ks when they have to start on 2k21 later this year. So one project I have is going through them all (I already have the list) and ranking the top 50-60 plays with video. My major issue is I’m out of the country for work for the next few years and I don’t have access my 360 and the previous titles. That’s where I need the most help.

Look at the rosters. Steve Kerr, like Phil and to a lesser degree Pop, have players work on fundamentals at every full practice. They matter. The particulars of how a screen is made or how a cut is made matter. Footwork, timing, rhythm all matter.
That is an understatement. Once Melo got the ball the offensive flow stopped, as he was always looking to shoot and never to pass in a system that requieres constant ball movement. He demanded and needed a system (and teammates) to work around him and to suit his style (very much like his pal Lebron). All in all, it was a recipe for disaster and the Knicks management should have known better.

Try pressing only the 'pass' button when the receiver is approaching near to the passer, like an arm's length. Alternatively, hold 'B' and release it when the receiver is very near to the passer. No need icon pass, no need to press the left stick. It'll give a very nice 'handoff' action.

I also notice in 19 the Cpu defends the handoff motion differently. If the receiver is a shooter, the Cpu defender tends to go over the big man screen and it gives the receiver (after the handoff) a lot of space to drive into the paint. If the receiver is a non-shooter, defender goes under. Read the defense and react accordingly.

Just thought I’d check in and see how how the community is dealing with this crisis. Social distancing is in full effect where i am. All we can do right now is pray for those who have been impacted by the virus in whatever form or fashion and help out where we can.

With that said I’ve had a little time to jump back into 2K lately. I put the game down for the past few months due to a plethora of reasons IRL and the lack of a traditional MyGM mode this year (I’ve actually even thought about starting a WNBA season...seriously). System proficiency has been improved this year so I was actually looking forward to running a squad out there with a 5-star rating something we couldn’t do in years past. Guess I’ll have to settle for MyLeague.

Internet in my complex is [emoji90] so live streams aren’t my thing but I’m open to suggestions on what to add to the thread. I’m thinking that on Saturday I can post a few 2K19 CAPs I made for MyGM draft classes with ratings and tendencies ideal for the Triangle System. My thing was trying to create a player type with a 5-star proficiency rating but with the lowest overall rating. I will probably dust off some old training routines too for progression too.

Anyway, I’m back and want to know what type of content you’d like me to share...

My training regime for MyLeague or MyGM. For post bigs make sure to work ok post defense in training camp.

Notice the areas of tactical and fundamental skills needed to improve individual proficiency ratings.
For Bigs, high touch and post up tendencies are a big factor. I’ve been able to get Smalls 5-stars by just working on skills.

                                GIVE 5OUT 8 or FIST 15 QUCK

One of the end of quarter plays I run in 2K out of the Open Set. Like the Bulls do in the video below, I like the handoff to come from a wing player like Jud Buechler. The GIVE play is probably what I use if there was a dead ball situation giving me time to sub in a wing to the center position. If I don’t have that luxury then I’ll call the FIST play because most of my low usage spot up wings like him, Fox, and Ariza have PNR Man plays as their Priority 4 play option.
