For me it has to be either 2K11 or 2K12. Loved the grind of trying to make it in the NBA (Draft Combine, Draft, Summer League).

Love The Show. Not even a baseball guy but the career mode is a blast.

Cautiously optimistic that we're heading towards a MyCareer mode separate from the online 'MyPlayer' modes

This Youtuber has the game early & look at the MyCareer menu:

        Play Next Game/Progression/MyPlayer Appearance/The Neighborhood/Pro-AM/Stats/Options - Quit

Next step is having Neighborhood/Pro-AM be main menu options with your MyPlayer being a Customization/Settings menu option & depending on which main menu option you select (MyCareer vs Neighborhood/Pro-Am) appropriate limitations are applied, or lack thereof (offline).

Pure speculation on my part, but it would fit 2K's "half a step at a time...we'll get there" model.

          2k11, 2k12, and 2k13 for me.

I loved in 2k11 going through the combine, getting drafted you could easily fall into the second round and it happened a lot. Something that was missing in later 2k games getting drafted in the second round though that could happen in 2k20 but idk if many people got that. Then the summer league play badly and you started off in the D-league. Play well and get called up. It was fun for me.

2k12 got rid of all of that and replaced it with the rookie showcase which was pretty unrealistic also no matter what you did you always ended up going in the first round. But I loved the pre-draft interviews. Tell a team why they should draft you or pull a Kobe or Lonzo and tell teams outright DO NOT DRAFT ME lol. This was also the last game Pre-VC so actually having a realistic salary for the first and last time in dollars helped with immersion for me. Though having to pay 2 million for Lebron's jumpshot and I think $5 Million or $4 Million for Jordan's animations were a pain in the *** to grind.

2k13 may have introduced VC and had a lot of the
same features of 2k12 but something about it made me enjoy it so much. I can't really put my finger on it probably had to do with the gameplay improvements I loved the introduction of the control stick. Also for the first time instead of having your shoe endorsement be Jordan you had the option to pick Nike. You also had GM sitdowns which were cool but unrealistic unless you're LeBron. But the AI made a lot of stupid trades and signings last gen so being able to have some control over the roster helped.

I liked the 2k11 one the best. Not sure if thats just because I like the gameplay the best. I liked 2k13's too but I was not as big of a fan of the gameplay.

2k10, 2k11, 2k13, 2k16, 2k19. Suprising I am enjoying this year's MyCareer. A few of my biggest gripes with this year's mode is lack of defensive settings and control. It would be nice to have scemes for different teams and being able to make adjustments. If I'm point guard and a small one at that I don't want to be stuck guarding Ben Simmons all game long. Give me the option to put RJ Barrett or Maurice Harkless on him. Secondly not being able to use custom rosters like we use to in past 2k's.

                Perfectly said.

I enjoyed MyCareer when it literally felt like my career. The suspension of belief was generally manageable in 2K10-2K12. I could kind of pretend that, yeah, maybe I am a random coming out of the MAC grinding at pre-draft workouts on the off-chance I get drafted (or not). And maybe I'm in charge of my own destiny. And maybe I don't have to be a giant douche along the way.

The minute I lost control of who I was, most interest went right out the window. Kind of a bummer too, because a lot of the extra aspects added in recent years seem cool. If the forced storyline were to be replaced with something like you describe in The Show, I might be interested in diving right in.

Well I ended up buying a used copy of NBA 2k13 for the Xbox 360 from Amazon because I missed it so much. The servers are down but it was worth it for me.

I enjoyed the 2k11-13 Mycareer best. That's the type of career mode I prefer, where give me the full athlete experience without forcing me into a linear repetitive storyline. Combine, Pre-draft interviews influencing where you landed, post game interviews. I skipped 2k14. I liked 2k15 story outside of poor NBA voice acting. I enjoyed 2k16 high school and NCAA section. The Orange Juice thing was corny. The main issue I had with 2k15-2k17 was mainly gameplay. That was when AI teammates were useless and you pretty much had to average 40+ ppg on HOF just to win games. Especially with 2k17. I forgot what Michael B Jordan character name was. But he would have been better in 2k18-20 where teammates started being more reliable. I didn't care for 2k18-2k20(barely played 2k20) mainly for the story. They went from the story lasting throughout 1st season to it lasting until you got to NBA.

My ideal MyCareer would be mixing 2k11-13 with 2k16/17. Give me the high school, NCAA, predraft workouts/combines, Pre-draft interviews, draft, and summer league. Then once you get to NBA just give me post game interviews and interactions with NBA players and Media. Where goal would be to make Pre-NBA and first 2 seasons of NBA career in-depth. Hopefully they go back to giving more creative freedom in building player play style. I hate being restricted on how I want to build my player, especially when I don't play online at all.

I like the MyCareer experience in the game, but they need to just throw away the canned storyline. It's boring, takes way too long to load, adds absolutely nothing except a button-mash trying to skip all the nonsense cut-scenes whenever you start a new MyCareer.

They should make it open-ended so you can develop your own player instead of playing some character they invented, who is often an arrogant douche-bag anyway.

In fact, they should get rid of all of the non-game-related cut scenes and just make it text like MyGM and make it open and sandbox, not canned and scripted. How much money do they spend on that, hiring NBA and Hollywood Stars and stuff that they could be putting into the actual game? All that time and $$$ just to add an annoying mini-movie that most players skip through.

I'd also love the option of a short 5-10 game season playing overseas in China or Spain or trying out that new G-league program instead of going to college because I don't want to give the NCAA money lol. Choosing our agents should also be important.

Yeah, I would rather get the realistic NBA experience rather than the consistent underdog, arrogant, chip on shoulder story that the last few years you can avoid all together anyway if you create a dummy career at first. You don't need a cheesy story. People just don't want it to feel like just player lock ML. If you add elements of interactions with other players and media along with off the court scenarios, that will give the mode depth

We should create our own "stories" in the game. Say we're on a team like the Nuggets and we've really come into our own and want the keys handed to us but either Jokic or Murray say no. Either we make it work out or our egos get too big and one of us ends up getting shipped out to another team.

You're in your final year of your contract and have been on the same team for the duration of your whole career. Problem is the team hasn't been good, the front office has made bad signings, and you want a ring. That would create drama with the press making stories about you going to another team, and drama in the locker room like what happened with Draymond Green and KD last season.

There should be relationships with other players like in MLB the Show. Let me team up actually recruit and form a superteam or have a rivalry like MJ's Bulls and the Pistons so everytime we go up against each other those games would feel more intense. Sure we had Jackson Ellis in 2k14 but that was cheesy and lame, I want something like Magic and Bird or like that old Jordan commercial with the Chinese guy and the American guy.

With that I'd also love to be the Villain in the NBA for once. Let me go into an opposing arena and get booed every time I touch the the ball.

I'd like to see injuries return. We haven't had them in Myplayer since 2k11. You just suffered a huge injury and try to come back but you won't be the same player you once were.

Having lots fun with 2k14 mycareer on pc with custom roster of 19/20 season. I've really underestimated this game because didn't enjoy 2k13 and initially it felt like just a slight improvement.

But its very solid game at the core and with good custom roster its a blast to play.I really like MyCareer setupwith how you upgrade player and can be quite all around in the end. HOF difficulty is really hard and unfair, but superstar feels okay most of time.

One of most surprising thing is how new star players that werent part of original 2k14 roster can really play like themselves. Like Jokic here having near triple double, also on my team (SUNS) Booker, Ayton, Rubio, Saric really play close like they do irl.
