Ya maybe its a sense of entitlement creeping in, but I've been a beast as a solo rec player for a few years now, and feel that I should just get the ball.

Also I think I am in need of a mentality shift - as a primary defending build this year I should stop cutting for buckets.

Might just become a half court player, staying at half court on offence and neutralising every fast break lol

Me and my friends were about 80 overall at 1-0 and then played a 25-3 team of 99s

Don't blame squads or randoms, blame 2k for having the worst matchmaking system out of all online games around. We just need some decent form of ranked online and we'd all have a lot more fun. ProAM and Rec both have stupid matchmaking, we need a skill rating to help matchups.

          We can blame both

Not every squad is pro-am ready, but it's just pathetic when you see squads or full clans coming in Rec playing zone D & 5 out etc. Bottlom line, they're too scared for pro-am and they are part of what's wrong with the Rec. Then you get the buddy ballers who are also squads. Which leads us to... the necessity of taking the time to form a squad. I should be able to hop in a game with randoms to save time, and not get matched up with a tryhard squad. Idk if 2K cares about User Experience, but idk if any other game out there is this bad when it comes to matchmaking, wait times, and trash randoms.

Why matchup a lockdown with a lockdown SF for example and matchup 2 sharshooting playmakers vs each other ...if they would assign a lockdown on the shooter and vice versa it would be more fun

                Yup.

Usually when you play a full squad your whole team quits at some point.

Then they squad starts msg you to quit the game.

                I never quit.

I usually you do my badges and get that high team grade.

Most fun is when my teammates where all high overall and they actually play much better being AI controlled.

Actually made a few comeback wins that way lol.

Usually hope that my team quits sooner then later so i can annoy those squads

This was my whole MO on 2k19 lol

Sometimes I'd sabotage the last player remaining by just giving him the ball so he can get ripped 20 times and then I'm left to put up 35 with AIs.

I've got some screenshots of notable wins I had against squads of 5.

This year tho... dudes just ain't quitting fast enough lol

The problem is most randoms are bad at the game, that's all there is too it. Not every squad I've played was in Zone D and 5 out, my random teammates just couldn't guard them. Most Randoms can't defend the PnR, throw up bad shots, can't defend, leave their man open, throw bad passes.

I've got at least 400 matches playing with randoms in 2k19 and the above is always the case. A good group of randoms will not lose by 20+ points.

It doesn't seem that hard to do.

They have OVR rankings now so that can be sorted. And they have always tracked teammate grade under the hood. They could sort by that next.

I don't know why, but ever since team up was introduced in 2k9 they have refused to matchmake according to teammate grade. Most of my games are full of guys that don't even cross half-court to play D, jack up the worst of shots, and when things don't go their way they quit.

You can't tell me those guys have teammate grade anywhere near as high as mine. I don't get why I get matched with them so often.

Then you have the OVR gap. If I'm playing rec with a 75 rated SF why am I only matched up against 95 rated SGs? I can be competitive because I have been playing these modes primarily since 2k9 but I wouldn't wish it on anyone with even half of my experience.

matchmaking definitely is necessary... some guys from my online League and me sometimes Play proam. we have decent players right now, Rated about 80 ovr. it gets frustrating that There are basically no Teams under 90 Rated players out There. Most of the Times we Play the better Basketball, but if you face a Team fill of 95+ Rated guys, you have to Play nearly perfect to win it. really frustrating in the Long run...

Re: Stop letting squads in the rec center

Had one of my best experiences playing rec yesterday!

Playing with my homie (this is his first 2k) we were running rec with randoms and got matched with a PF lockdown glass cleaner who was beasting! played beautiful team ball - we also then got a PG who averaged 8 assists - lost a few games to squads/ choked (my homie isn't very good yet but still way better than most) but the whole experience was super enjoyable.

I think the magic number for running with randoms is 3 - if you have 2 homies who are good and or decent team players, you can have some fun, especially if one of you can play centre, another can play PG and you got a wing.

It really neutralises the impact that trash randoms can have, but can also promote good team ball.

Naturally, we had a few randoms that were too trash to get us wins but we got to put up points, keep it competitive, come back a lil and win a nice few games too.

If 2k do take on the two door solution to rec matchmaking, they should have a completely solo door - where you get more VC/XP/badge points or a squad door where you get matched up with other squads (teams of 2 or 3 or your personal 5) squads of 4 should be banned.

OR - unpopular opinion, introduce an AI player for squads of 4 - they can be cheese, but if you just need a SG to stand in the corner and hit 40% of their open 3s, then why inflict that upon a human player who will most likely want to sell or mess things up when they're not being involved.

Also, I'd love the addition of MyCareer team up, where you can play vs AI with one or 2 human friends and the rest AI players. Sometimes you just want to have fun and avoid all this stuff about VC/badge grinding/win loss record etc. and the core tenet of it is playing with your friend and getting buckets with a player that looks like you or your favourite player or whatever.
Blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground.

I guarantee you most of the dudes you see in rec, running 5 out or zone do run team and are usually decent at it. They just don’t got their full 5, or someone owns a team and can’t disband to join someone else’s team. Very few of those guys are strictly Rec players, they know 3v3 and 5s are where the rep is at.
