Re: The cynical irony of punishing people for quitting out of games
So just got of a REC game where the 74ovr SF decided he wasn't gonna play defense (his man scored 28 on 12 shot attempts) while he shot a blistering 0-9. SG quit after going 4-14. Neither had an assist. I had a total of 4 shot attempts (3-4).
I stayed because the game was close through 3, but this is exactly what I'm talking about. Some may say I'm selfish for not wanting to sit through that!!?? Bruh...Comment

Re: The cynical irony of punishing people for quitting out of games
Played a few rec games last night with surprising success. First was a squad of 4 that had 3 guards and a big. So even tho i or the big couldn't shoot, i stayed in and we beat the brakes off a team 40-11, they quit right before the half. I waited in the lobby to play the next game with them but they backed out. I got a friend request and a party invite. I joined and we Molly whopped the next team as well. They quit out in the second as well.
Around this time i got a party invite from my regular squad. They wanted to play team Pro-Am, i was reluctant but accepted. First team game i went 2-10 and we got smashed. Typical 4 out, zone team. We adjusted our line up and won the next 3. Everyone parted ways, but i got back on my Big and went back into the rec.
Got another squad of 4 needing another PF. Had a double double, was good. The 2 guards were splashing like crazy so the other big and i just played D and kicked it up for easy transition buckets.
Next game, same squad. The 2 guard goes 1-4 from deep and 2-6 from the floor and as soon as his shot came off the rim he was gone.
We won again but it was definitely a struggle for the rest of us.
I think that encapsulates most of the 2k community. They EXPECT to hit every 3. I don't think that's the discussion we're having. I can honestly say i believe everyone in this thread can agree that if the team is doing well, we don't mind accepting our roles. It's when the game is out of hand early and the teammates are continuing to do the same things that got us down in the first place is the problem.
Winning cures a lot.Comment

Re: The cynical irony of punishing people for quitting out of games
I aint tryna hate or throw shade but this reads as someone with alot of time to play when they do play. On weekdays I probably get 1-3 hours in a session. I dont have time to sit and run 5 games where my team is down 20 points in the 1st because of trash teammates. I dont know how much you value your time but dont hate on others for valuing their time on the game
I believe this design philosophy leads to an environment where people feel they have to be getting boatloads of XP,Rep,Badge Points, etc. every single game to keep up or else....again almost like the kind of performance pressure one would feel at a job.Comment

Re: The cynical irony of punishing people for quitting out of games
i dont expect anything from anyone online as pretty much everyone is selfish and will do what is right for them.
I will be running around trying to get open , set screens , lock up my man, give help defense and boxout.
I will also make the extra pass if someone else has a better shot.
I will do this regardless of what my team is doing wether they involve me or freeze me out.
Quite frankly going into JRC solo i already expect them to freeze me out , be very bad teammates or plain out just quit once we are behind.
Anything different from this is just an added bonus.
This is the way of online gaming and its been this way for decades and it wont change.
Expect the worse, hope for the better.
adjective
(of a person, action, or motive) lacking consideration for others; concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit or pleasure.
Quitting damn sure isnt unselfish i know that. If someone ball hogs and goes 1-10 = he isnt (maybe) concerned about anyone but himself. If someone quits= he isnt concerned with anyone else.
The point tru11 was correctly making is your free to do what you want but to complain and justify your own selfish act because others are being selfish is hypocritical. You arent doong anything to fix it by quitting and then complaining. Complain while its happening or play 1 player. Not once out of allllllll the words youve said has anything come out of your mouth that would indicate you give 2 ****s about other people enjoying this game or not. Thats cool but its selfish. You admitted that when u said u only have 1-3 hours on the weekend to play.
They’re never gonna see it. Don’t waste your time. Your post was the most logical statement in here. Your point was it is selfish to quit. 100% it is. Whether its justified is debatable, but there should be no dispute that quitting is a selfish act.Comment

Re: The cynical irony of punishing people for quitting out of games
Just had a 6' Offensive Threat drop 61 on us in team.
I'm sure he had a 90 ball handle, 90 three, and all the contact dunks. He would sit behind a screen and spam behind the back until he had an angle to drive or shoot. He could green threes with a sliver of space and then had the speed to blow past anyone that contested him. Of course if anyone helped, he would kick out for a green three on the perimeter. I have video but I'm not going to upload it now. We doubled, tripled, tried to get anyone else to score but him but he was too fast.
I might be done this year.Comment

IMO this type of situation is the end result of game balancing decisions; things like badges are now to the point where people can forego good basketball and just lean heavily on whatever game mechanics break things the most in their favor.Essentially, in their quest to make things "appealing to a broader market" and "accessible to everyone", their product is starting to lose its resemblance to the source material and become just another video game.Comment
