In my opinion, it just encourages better basketball overall.
In theory i get what you're saying but the actual application that 2k has is completely flawed. And this is something i've talked about on here for awhile. Some of you guys are younger than me so all you've ever known was 2k's idea of nerf and Op, nerf it, then make something else OP.

That style of so called fixing the issues is flawed and it never balances anything out.

The main problem is, you have an entire era of kids that grew up in an "everybody wins" state of mind. So they feel like if they lose its the end of the world. they want to throw a tantrum. 2ks marketing people know this. so they ask the devs to make the game so easily accessible to these types, to make them FEEL as if they dont have to try as hard in order to win games.
I've talk to a many of 16, 17, 18, 21 year old and they've told me this out of their own mouths in regards to 2k and the cheese. I had a very specific convo with this one guy, at the time he was like 17. We were playing lets say 2k14 maybe... he was bringing out all the cheese. i still beat him. BUt I sent him a message, i said bro, do you like doing those same cheese moves ove rand over and over and over again? isnt that boring to you? He said..."well yeah, it does get super boring. but i want to win."

I said, "we all want to win. but this is a video...GAME. it means we're supposed to have FUN playing it no matter if we win or lose. did you know that?"

He was like, "I never even thought about it like that."

I've heard similar answers to those same questions I've asked other 15 yr olds to like 24 year olds. Winning over actual FUN.

I used to take L's in some of the older basketball games, live, 2k, and some others. but because of how me and some my friends would play. we would make each other have to play BASKETBALL and no cheese if possible. this would make for great games. and even when i lost i had a lot of fun. i miss those days. and I can clearly tell most of you dont have many of those games. its either you win and you're happy or you lose and its "F...2k".

and its not just younger guys either. its some old heads that now have that mentality from all the years of playing online with others with that mentality. people forget why we actually play. You dont play to win. you play to compete, the idea of competing is what is fun. which is why its no fun if the guy you're playing is a brown shirt 60 with no IQ and you're a 99overall with a high basketball IQ. sure you will win that match 120 to 20. but where's the fun in more or less running around taking practice shots? you could do that in your gym in the high rise apartment. lol.

I could easily fix the basic basketball issues with this game. and so could the devs. but they have to listen to higher ups telling them...do not make it to hard for the younger players/casual players. and make sure all players no matter their level are smashed in together all in the same games.

This mentality turns a Helper badge (intimidator) with a newbie into an OP badge with someone who knows the game. This...is the real issue.

What should happen is this, They need to have lobbies setup where you can search to play with people with helper badges and people without them. people that use defensive assist, or box out assist, etc.

I guy like me would play people that has no helper badges. meaning there are no OP badges to help a newbie. this is the place where you go because you actually know how to play the sport called basketball and the video game version as well. Dont come in here if you dont know what you're doing you will get destroyed. go in that other lobby and learn how to play first and then come over to the tougher side.

how the intimidator badge SHOULD work. It should not decrease your shooting ratings at all, it should not cause weird animations that force you into horrible misses or non dunking animations. What it should do is what a true shot blocker does to people in real life when they intimidate you. you're ability to focus on making the shot is messed up by you focusing on the defender swatting your shot to the other side of the court. you're so worried about getting blocked you're not even watching your layup/dunk go in like you should to make sure it does go in. How to simulate this real life thing in 2k? You have a rating called Focus. The less Focus you have, you can't see your shot bar/layup bar, in addition the stick shakes so you can get that little buzz to tell you when to release the layup/dunk. and you should give a boost to the defenders ability to actually block the shot and make contact with the ball without a foul call more often than someone without said badge.

This means the offensive guy knows this guy has a high chance of blocking my shot if i dont release it juuuust right under his arm or before he gets his hand up. that alone is scary and makes you have to either focus or loose focus and blow the layup doing to much double clutching or stop your own dunk attempt and turn it into a layup animation because you're afraid to get your dunk blocked.

you want to make big strong dudes intimidating? fine, make sure their strength is noticeable when a guy attacks the basket and if they foul you while hitting RT or R2, they can actually injure the offensive guy. not take him completely out for the game but hurt the guy to the point of hampering his offensive and defensive abilities for a few mins, an entire quarter, half, or even the rest of a game depending on how you fall/who you land on, etc.

This means an offensive guy is afraid, "if i go in there like an idiot and just trying to keep dunking on the world. they may lay my a... out and then i will have to play hurt. i dont want to play hurt, so i will think twice about going in there when there's defenders in the paint. " this will cause players to learn the game of basketball and spacing. they will start to see...wait that 15 foot to 18 feet range is wide open. let me start taking that open jumper, let me make the extra pass, etc.

^^This is how you create a game to help people learn the actual game so they can have more fun with your video game.

Ummmmmm...doesn't that make the badge even more OP? I rather deal with the RNG against the ratings versus what your suggesting. With your idea, you would be a complete idiot not to equip the badge. Disappearing/Fading shot meter? Vibrating controller? Stat hit? A player has to get a green to make the shot? Man, you're asking for too much.

Kristaps Porzingis is probably the fleetest of foot big over 7' ever in the history of the game. He's not doing nothing with a young Blake.

Seriously, you're talking out your *** right now.
The only people talking out of their asses are you and splash.

Aint nobody making a build based on bojan.

You think only you can make a build based on a superstar?

In my career all players are potential superstars.

Using a superstar and compare it to a bench player is simply flawed.

Even if we stick to active players it would be griffin against a slightly taller gobert or Embiid.

Fact remains that the game lets you create players based on even the best players in history.

It aint griffin on bojan its griffin on shaq.
Now you tell me how that would play out in real life?

Ps its young and old shaq combined.....
