Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide
Adjusted Pull-Up shooting tendencies and had some positive results.
Spoiler
THE GOOD:
Thirty 3PA by the Rockets is a step in the right direction.
Russell Westbrook only 1-2 3PT. His volume 3pt shooting issue has been resolved.
THE UGLY
Three-point percentage is in the gutter, and was it was infuriating to watch this play out. A significant portion of these misses were designated "Wide Open"
The AI randomizes shot release timing to create a "varied" experience. I found myself cursing at my TV every time I saw "VERY LATE" or "VERY EARLY" on shots where the player was wide open under no pressure.
James Harden went 2-13 on threes. He is over-loaded with badges and was still missing open shots.
------
Wendell Carter attacked P.J. Tucker all game due to the height discrepancy. The AI is programmed to target mismatches of 6 inches. On the surface, this seems like a good idea, right?
Carter is the 4th/5th option and his season high was 20. These situations make sense when the PG gets matched up with a C during a switch. Yet when it's a game-long matchup, the AI will simply keep attacking and abandon the gameplan.
---------------------
The Rockets lacking 5-Out is a major issue. Tucker is essentially playing the role of Clint Capela, except he can't roll to the rim. Anytime he catches the ball (always near the hoop), the offense breaks down. He dribbles around 10 feet away cycling through options since none of them include "attack the rim". The Rockets are basically playing 4-on-5
I like to share my 2k19 custom roster ( pls skip reading this post if deem not applicable as I'm not sure if it is of any help to tweak yor 2k20 roster)
Harden:
3 pt 99
Spotup 3 99
Off screen 3 60
Contested MR 10
Contested 3 99
Stepback 3 75
Transition pull up 3 99
Drive pull up 3 99 (I thot I zerolised but ...)
Drive pull up MR 10
Spotup drive 50
Offscreen drive 50
Transition spot up vs cut 99
Dish 60
Touch 91
3pt open 83
3pt contest 83
3pt move 85
Shot iq 99
In a game warriors (user) against the rockets (this year roster, cpu), Harden hit 5-16 3pt, Tucker 3-8, Rivers 4-11, Gordon 3-10, Covington 2-3.
2k19 default freelance is 21 delay and default playbook is mainly pnr plays. I added iso 5out to make Harden attack more on isolation. Overall 19-53 on 3s 36% fast break points 40.
Note that this is on custom slider HOF.

Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide
For 2k19, the following will be factored in (1) player touches tendency, (2) players' play type assigned and (3) POE. There is a difference when I set everything on 'no preference' in POE vs having who to attack first. So for cpu HOU as an example, I will set 1st Harden, 2nd Westbrook and 3rd Gordon. If u assign pnr man plays to Tucker and nothing for Westbrook or Harden, u probably see cpu running all the various pnr plays through Tucker. So I dun do that. I set pnr point for Westbrook and pnr wing for Harden, and set play through star - then cpu will run mostly the pnr plays in the playbook. Less on freelance. But series will still be triggered no matter what as this is programmed, like hardcode.
Sorry, i'm not sure for 2k20.

To say Theis adequately and unexpectedly replaced Al Horford would be a gross understatement. He fits the Celtics scheme perfectly and the league is moving away from his limitations (size, post defense).
Jayson Tatum

Enes Kanter

There's no way Kanter should be an 85 OVR (2K's center formula is extremely outdated), but he's also much better than his limited role would indicate. The Celtics have Theis, Williams, and Poirier under contract next season. I can see Kanter being traded during the offseason after he opts in for 5M. Theis ultimately filled the starter's role Kanter was expected to take this season.
Semi Ojeleye
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-vBBMQREVo4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Robert Williams

Javonte Green

The 2020 G-League Rookie of the Year should be poised for a role at the big league level next season.
Tacko Fall
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/U9dLzfwE3ug" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Despite his popularity (and rating), Fall is more sideshow than NBA player. He is historically good at finishing, rebounding, and blocking shots. Yet other facets of the game render him unplayable. He can't score without being featured, and is a walking turnover. He has a chance to be the next Boban Marjanovic - yet Boban was much more polished (coming over from Europe at 27) and despite some bright spots, has still only averaged 9.7 MPG in the NBA.Last edited by Real2KInsider; 06-22-2020, 03:08 PM.NBA 2K25 Roster: Real 2K Rosters - Modern Era

Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide
Just curious here, do you play or simulate any seasons? I ask because I'm currently in my 2021-22 season on Xbox, and I enjoy projecting player potential and editing ratings to guys that I know could make that leap to 80+ (based on my rating scale which is a bit different-but that's neither here or there).

Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide
Mitchell: 66-140 (47.1%)
Kawhi: 63-138 (45.7%)
Butler: 19-75 (27.5%)
2019 Butler: 45-150 (30.0%)
People are quick to assume 2K doesn't know what they're doing.
Checking Basketball-Reference is much quicker, and prevents the spread of misinformation.Last edited by Real2KInsider; 07-23-2020, 04:48 PM.NBA 2K25 Roster: Real 2K Rosters - Modern Era

Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide
Hi Rashidi, thank you for your analyzes. IDK if this question has already been answered on this thread but do you have a formula for these ratings? I'm doing a historic roster but IDK how to assign ratings to players because I am kinda new to roster creating/editing. Thanks!Comment
