Re: NBA 2K20 Player Rating Edit Guide

Came up with a scale for Attack Strong / Dish to Open Man (also think I cracked the 2K formula). Was much happier with the ball movement. Fewer players putting their head down. The Bucks took plenty of threes, while the Knicks took plenty of FTs.

    Bucks 124
    STARTERS
    B.Lopez: 6-11-3 (3-4 FG, 0-1 3PT), 30 mins, 5 fouls, 2 steals, 6 blocks
    Giannis: 31-9-5 (15-21 FG, 1-1 3PT), 26 mins, 5 dunks, 1 steal, 5 blocks
    Middleton: 20-2-1 (7-18 FG, 2-5 3PT, 4-4 FT), 23 mins
    Matthews: 7-5-4 (3-5 FG, 1-1 3PT), 23 mins
    Bledsoe: 18-2-7 (8-14 FG, 2-3 3PT), 30 mins, 1 dunk
    BENCH
    R.Lopez: 4-6-0 (2-2 FG), 16 mins
    Ilyasova: 7-3-1 (2-2 FG, 3-3 FT), 17 mins
    Korver: 0-0-1 (0-3 FG, 0-3 3PT), 16 mins
    DiVincenzo: 10-1-2 (4-9 FG, 1-2 3PT, 1-1 FT), 18 mins
    Hill: 13-2-5 (6-10 FG, 1-2 3PT), 18 mins
    Connaughton: 0-0-1 (0-1 FG, 0-1 3PT), 13 mins
    Williams: 5-2-0 (2-3 FG, 1-1 3PT), 8 mins
    Brown: 3-1-1 (1-2 FG, 1-1 3PT), 8 mins

Bucks got out to a 10-0 start and never looked back.

The only quibble I have with this line is 21 FGA and no FTA for Giannis. His athleticism might be preventing fouls instead of generating them. His animations are simply too clean. He gets these lobs that the CPU makes no effort to defend.

    Knicks 96
    STARTERS
    Gibson: 15-11-3 (5-8 FG, 1-2 3PT, 4-4 FT), 29 mins
    Randle: 25-10-1 (10-29 FG, 1-1 3PT, 4-4 FT), 34 mins
    Harkless: 0-4-2 (0-1 FG), 22 mins
    Barrett: 6-2-2 (2-7 FG, 0-1 3PT, 2-4 FT), 24 mins
    Payton: 9-2-3 (3-9 FG, 0-1 3PT, 3-4 FT), 22 mins, 1 dunk
    BENCH
    Robinson: 8-8-0 (4-5 FG), 18 mins, 3 blocks, 4 dunks
    Portis: 8-1-3 (4-7 FG), 18 mins, 1 dunk
    Knox: 5-3-2 (2-6 FG, 1-4 3PT), 18 mins
    Bullock: 2-3-1 (1-3 FG, 0-1 3PT), 19 mins
    Ntilikina: 14-2-4 (5-11 FG, 1-1 3PT, 3-4 FT), 19 mins, 4 TO, 1 dunk
    Dotson: 0-0-2 (0-0 FG), 8 mins
    Ellington: 0-1-1 (0-0 FG), 8 mins
    Smith: 4-0-1 (1-4 FG, 2-2 FT), 8 mins

Randle finally got the lions share of touches. Prior to this, Barrett would usually lead in touches.
Portis isn't spacing the floor, but this might be a playbook issue. Knicks frequently have Mitchell Robinson at top of key doing handoffs - should be Portis instead in those actions.
Ntilikina had a floater game, made some good passes, but also had 4 TOs in the flow of the offense, which normally doesn't happen.

If you fix the Rockets (the most broken team of them all lol) I’ll be a believer. Is every team going to get this same treatment?

Currently where I'm at with the Rockets w/o much dedicated focus.

Beyond Westbrook taking a few too many threes, they're fine.

Westbrook is pretty hard to handle. Even with a “Shooting three tendency” of 10, and a “Dribble pullup three” of 5 he’ll shoot 4/5 threes per game, hiding Harden’s game

Just wanted to let everyone know I've started breaking down some of my ratings on my roster thread. I will also admit I don't go into as much detail as Rashidi does. But I have started following his format somewhat here. Thank you fellas!

I know, my point was that with these low tendencies he shouldn’t take 4/5 threes

I haven’t researched or anything but I think I heard a stat about how he’d cut down a lot recently. Like I said it was just on a podcast or something, but hopefully he keeps it up. He’s so damn good when he just drives. Over and over.

P.J. Tucker also takes 4 threes a game. He also takes only 2 twos per game.
Westbrook takes 18 twos (not including fouls).

Westbrook should have the lowest 3pt rate on the team (excluding Chandler/Hartenstein).

What's frustrating is I believe 5-Out Offense was patched out which is why we're not seeing proper spacing on the Bucks/Rockets.

There was a weekend update -- not a patch -- for NBA 2K20. It altered the Lakers and Pels playbooks, and it also changed five-out freelances to four out.

The Rockets straight up don't function with P.J. Tucker standing under the basket.

Adjusted my Postup Tendency scale formula tonight. It previously did not account for volume enough.

                      Avg Starter
                      PG: 6
                      SG: 5

                      C: 40

                      15: Luka Doncic, Evan Turner
                      10: Russell Westbrook

A quick glance at Russ's season splits

                        3PA per game
                        Oct: 4.0
                        Nov: 5.7
                        Dec: 4.4
                        Jan: 2.2
                        Feb: 2.5
                        Mar: 2.5

This is an instance where it's likely correct to throw his season production out.
FWIW I can't recall an instance where we saw a guard make such a dramatic shift.

                        Oct-Dec: 34-147 (23%)
                        Jan-Mar: 17-54 (31%)

A reminder that bad tendencies exist IRL, not just video games.

You think you’d be able to post a Ja Morant breakdown at some point? Would love to see if there’s any changes you’d make to his ratings.

I've given 99 Intangibles to Tatum which is something I don't take lightly. It's something I reserve for only Superstars. At age 21, Tatum is a better player than every wing in the league was at the same age.
                                Hey Rashidi!

I hope you dont mind me pulling this old post.

I have a question for you - its regarding intangibles attribute.
As you probably know yourself, there's been a lot of guessing about what does that paramatere even do, if anything specifically in terms of gameplay.

By the way you formed the quoted sentence, I have a strong suspicion you have a strong grip about it

Would you care to share your insight?

In the meantime, I'll share my observations - after watching 150-200 CPU vs CPU simulations, I think the clearest impact could be related to how fast/slow positive/negative consistancy icons appear for individual players.

For instance - Kawhi has his INT set to 25 (at least in the roster I've been using recently) and in last game I watched Clippers, he got a COLD ICON (a snowfluff) after only missing his first three shots!!!

But, I'd rather hear you talk...that is, write
