Are you also finishing at will with Austin Rivers? Otherwise I personally don't see the issue. Obviously if inside scoring success is very high, then that's not ideal.

All in all, blow-bys are part of the game y'all, it opens up the drive and kick game.

I've watched dozens of hours of the real playoff games and inside drives are incredibly common throughout each game. There is no constant stonewalling because it'd be a foul. Anyone watch Rockets vs Lakers last night? Harden was blowing by the lakers defenders almost at-will (makes you appreciate how good of a job Lu Dort did in the previous round).

I completely understand when we're talking inside scoring success, because it's not fun to shoot like... 80-90% at the rim, but the core idea of a blow-by and drive success is an integral part of basketball and I think past 2K games (namely 2K17 and 2K19) conditioned people into believing that constant bumping on the perimeter is the norm.

Well there is a hot fix for shooting tomorrow for All-Star and under. Maybe this can please most people.

That’s what I was thinking too lol. Two completely different players.

I mean, are you playing against the AI or a human? What difficulty you're on?

I mentioned in another thread, you only see 1 or 2 posters a game in 12 minutes, but you get them about 3x a qtr on 2K (per team). So it's like, a lot you have to take into account.

The defender probably played bad defense and let Austin get to the rim. Nobody played help, and so he converted against weak defense.

I understand your side, but at the same time, just because I'm using someone who can't penetrate IRL doesn't mean the game should suck me into bad defense and force me to miss a wide open shot.

Skill needs to matter in this game. Or else, everyone will do exactly as they do now: get the Lakers, or the Clippers, or whatever team has a superstar, and just drive to the rim every time because that's what they do in real life.

Just because Harden draws fouls in real life shouldn't mean that the game makes me foul him if I play good defense.

I understood what he was saying, and context is important, lol

People throw out examples all the time.

We talking PNO? Offline on a certian level?

In my experience with either I dont see the potential for Austin Rivers type players to drop 50 left and right so if that's what's going down, it would be good to show 2K some examples.

It needs fixing for superstar and HOF too imo.

I’ve been playing this series for nearly two decades now and I love the new shooting mechanics. It feels natural to me. I have been a shot stick user from the beginning though as I’m sure that isn’t the case with most folks having difficulties.

So then why should Rivers be blowing past good defenders? If you want everyone to do anything, because skill matters, then why have ratings at all... Even though doing things that aren't realistic isn't skill anyway, that's cheesing.

Unfortunately I don't have anything to capture my games.
Not really... Because the wide open 3 is an actual rating. "Driving to the rim" isn't a rating.

I can literally take the slowest, worst ball control player in the NBA and run to the rim if I drive right, and the defender gives up a lane. Yes, that is extreme, but the point still stands that, unlike Shaq popping 3s from behind the line, walking from one point to another is mostly entirely dependent on the defender. And if the defender is bad, then yes, you are going to get to the rim.

The issue, as someone mentioned before, is whether or not he's finishing at the rim, through contact. He's a PG, so there's not many players he's going to have a mismatch on. If it's on Pro or All-Star, I'm pretty sure I could drive to the rim at will. If you're playing online and driving to the rim at will, then it's the fault of the defender.

If you are playing against the AI on All-star/Superstar and are driving to the rim against a PG who is actually good at perimeter defense, and finishing through contact like you're Lebron, then yes.

But that would be something that would be useful to show someone: while it is asinine, it's also not impossible, for all of the reasons I've mentioned above.

I'm not saying you're lying, I'm just wondering how, exactly, this is happening. It's not impossible, but it shouldn't be "at-will". I'm trying to see how, exactly, this is happening.

You can't start the playoffs in myLeague with a custom roster that you create. In MyLeague the option is there but for the Playoffs you can't edit the rosters. You have to play with the current roster. It's absolutely insane. I cant believe noone has noticed this garbage.

                          Sure. OK.

Anyways, I just used the Rockets against the Hornets and the Bucks.

Against the Bucks, on both All-Star and Superstar, Austin couldn't get by a good defender in Bledsoe, or half of the people they put on him.

Against the Hornets, with Terry Rozier defending him, he was able to get to the rim. Of course, Rozier is a 75 PD, with no defensive badges.

I can post the video if you would like, but against a good defensive team like the Bucks, Austin wasn't really that effective until I started to game the system. He could do this against a bad defensive team like the Hornets.

Which is why people are asking: online? Offline? Context matters, and just like driving to the rim is a skill is a rating, so is defense. If the person is a bad defender, then yes, even Austin, with his 77 Speed with Ball and 86 ball Handle is probably going to find success going to the rim. Doubly so if this is against a user who isn't even able to stay in between his defender and the rim and stop an easy look at the basket. And especially so if Rivers has Bronze "Handles for Days" and "Quick first step".

I am only saying this to ascertain whether there's a problem or not. I have a good (enough) defender on the Spurs, and I can say with certainty that outside of legit superstars, I'm not having trouble stopping people from getting to the rim. And then, outside of legit superstars, when I send help, bad finishers are finishing at the rim.

If you want to argue whether or not Austin deserves the ratings and badges he has, sure, but I'm not really seeing this thing about everyone turboing and getting to the rim as they please.

I own 2K20 on both PC and PS4. I mainly play MyCareer and sometimes play in park or rec but not a ton. Is 2K21 worth a purchase for that? Was only going to get it until Wow's new expansion at the end of October.

I’m a Real Player % guy. Not because I can’t time a release, but because no other basketball fundamental takes more than a button press to execute and the meter kills the immersion for me just a bit. I’ve now had two consecutive games where less than 5 three pointers were made between myself and the cpu combined on Superstar default with 12 minute quarters. It’s definitely an issue.

I havent understood this so far as well. Im airballing every post hook and other post specific shots. How are you supposed to get a good release if the only way to get it is by shooting a fadeaway (stick down...)???
