Adding Barkley after so many years would definitely be an eye-catcher and this year would've been perfect to do it since they have nothing else going for the game. Why don't they just do it? It's a noble cause and 1 million is not that much when they earn tons more than that.

I’ve said this before but if Barkley isn’t added fairly soon, nobody will care. I watched him play when he was at his peak. I played video games with stick figure Charles Barkley in them. I’d love to have him in the game. If I was 18 yrs old, I wouldn’t care. As time passes it just won’t be a big deal.

Because 2K hasn't offered Sir Charles 1 million. I doubt Jordan gets that and if he does... he's the only one.

God help us all if Jordan's not the only one. If he's not, he's gonna take it personally....and we all know how that will end. Steve Kerr might want to warn the higher ups at 2K to have some ice and Advil on hand.

I'd also love to see Barkley in the game but you're right. Younger players these days don't really care about old retired NBA players and are 2k's largest demographic who buy the game every year. They just jump directly to Park.

How many more units do you think they would move if they included Barkley? Because unless it's moving an extra 1.5 million units, it's a terrible investment for 2K/Take-Two.

I'd say a few million for sure. Barkley is still an icon, around the world, so including him would mean they could add the Dream Team 92 as well as his 92-93 Suns, 96-97 Rockets among others and over the long haul they could definitely benefit from making sure retired players are profiting. Marketing wise they could go nuts with former players going around the country to promote it, Barkley could endorse it, they could sponsor some TNT stuff and get Barkley on their pre-game, half-time and post-game show which would also bring in a more authentic feel. They might even be able to get the TNT license that way. Picture adds at games, TNT promoting it, etc. Would definitely bring in some serious revenue. Ow and I think there's a very solid chance Barkley allowing his likeliness for 2k would make Reggie chance his stance as well.

Not exactly. USA Basketball is a separate entity from the NBA, which is why we only see the Olympic teams every four years.

People always seem to think parent company money is fluid. 2K developers don't touch what GTA brings in and vice versa. Each studio is self-sustaining.

Charles Barkley CLEARLY stated he didn't want the money for himself, he stated exactly WHO the money was for hell. . . they threw bones at these celebrities and rappers, they DON'T hoop in the NBA other than the All Star Celebrity games most of us DON'T even use period so STOP it. . . besides. . . there are countless of us old heads out here who still play 2K, Ijs. . .

What you're asking has no cost/benefit.

I don't think people understand how EXPENSIVE filling out Classic teams would be. There's a reason they only did it on the initial few teams 8-9 years ago.

Would you want DJ Mbenga if you had to pay an extra $10 for the game? Maybe you would, but the vast majority of people would not.

Gotta look at it this way. In theory they are paying 1 million dollars for Barkley .

Not directly of course . But imagine if more and more stars starting making million dollar demands .
