And to be fair...I personally don't know that many players before the 80's outside of the superstars. Honestly, I don't believe it makes financial sense to go after all these "classic" players. What they could start doing is give us the last 3 seasons of each team to use in PNO.Comment

He says this every year, and I agree with him. 2K never answers him.
$1 million shouldn't be a problem for 2K to pay so there must be some other problem. What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Its not only the 10~13th bench players.
How can we be happy when they add a "classic team" full of generic scrubs like '13 Grizzlies, the Heatles without C.B (last year), Pistons without Rasheed, 86 Bulls without Woolridge etc ... ?!
2K and the NBA should make a financial effort for the old Retired Players and settle these licensing issues.Comment

Finally, someone gets it, and it's not a one-time payment of 1 million dollars, he is demanding everyone gets a million dollars.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

It's not every player. He's asking them to donate the money to the national basketball retired players association. I don't know if it's every year or a one time payment but either way it's totally doable.Comment

Re: Barkley Says Give Old Retired Players $1M and I'll be in NBA 2K
2K already pays the NBRPA (retired players association), that is how they have the players they do have from classic teams.
Some players decided they didn't want their rights decided by the RPA and require separate deals for themselves individually.
Barkley is one.Comment

Re: Barkley Says Give Old Retired Players $1M and I'll be in NBA 2K
He said to give the retired players in the game, especially the older players, a million dollars. Do you think he meant 1 million in total? How many players are you splitting that million dollars on? 2k has given million for other basketballs related organizations, including refurbishing public courts all over the United States, so I question if this all comes down to 1 million dollars even if its a yearly thing.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: Barkley Says Give Old Retired Players $1M and I'll be in NBA 2K
Charles is entitled to his demand but I don’t believe it makes economic sense on 2K’s end.
Right now, 2K has over 60 classic teams, most with their core rotations mostly in tact. We’re debating about Chuck, Reggie, and Sheed only because virtually every other legend has already agreed to terms and is in the game. Whatever 2K was offering, MJ, Shaq, Russell, Hakeem, Magic, Bird, and Isiah (and all their teammates) were on board.
If 2K were to acquiesce to Barkley’s demand, I’d suspect there’s a good chance other legends (or their financial advisors) may begin to look at his million as the new standard, thus demanding more themselves, at which point this is no longer a one-time million dollar contribution. Instead, it could lead to a domino effect that extends millions beyond Chuck’s initial demand. And at that point, maybe 2K really couldn’t afford to take that kind of hit on classic teams.
Basically, at this point, 2K’s sacrificed Chuck, Sheed, and Reggie for the most robust classic ecosystem in sports video game history. As cool as having those guys would be, it may not be worth rocking the boat.Comment

When they did that 2k foundations thing in the back of my mind I thought this would lead to 2k getting Chuck. Unfortunately it didn't.Comment

Re: Barkley Says Give Old Retired Players $1M and I'll be in NBA 2K
I could give a damn about 2K's financials if it means some of the older guys aren't getting treated right. And them agreeing to get something as opposed to nothing doesn't mean much to me because someone signing a contract doesn't make that contract fair or right. We can revisit the history of the United States to figure that one out. Being able to sit on my *** and play a video game with a ton of classic teams is a pretty low priority compared to real life.Last edited by dubcity; 09-19-2020, 12:59 PM.Comment
